Chapter 2: Scene - Becoming one
The play started and her role was an evil psychopath who was the leading woman's past best friend.
"You know it wasn't me October. You have no proof." Zhonya was getting in character. She got the essence of the evil wicked villain.
"Lovely. What happened to us? Remember, please remember." Lee said being one great actress as well. Zhonya's wicked smile was slowly fading.
"I don't have a best friend. Remember when you left me!? You left me October. You left me for August! I needed you. When my parents died I needed a shoulder to lean on. When my sister left you didn't even bothered to call if I am alright." She was a very good actress. "Look, October. I just wished you where there when I needed you. Go. August needs you." She continued and walked away. Being stopped by Lee.
"Lovely, please? I love you. Best friends are there even if they don't talk for a very long time." Zhonya looked at her friend, thinking. Then it was her solo.
It was between her and her anger. In Lee's story, her best friend was struggling with her anger since the day her parents died. So tbe leading woman left because she needs to deal it on her own. She has this one scene where she needs to fight the toxic anger in her mind.
"Hi, Lovely." She said in a different voice and the light was red shining on her.
"Stay away!" Zhonya was talking to herself. This time it was shibing blue.
"I know, why you're confused. Embrace me and I won't let it confuse you anymore." Red Zhonya said.
"No! Not this time anger!" Blue Zhonya said when anger boomed the theater.
"What are you doing!? You'll never be her friend again! Remember what she did! Who left you? Who let you spiral down? And who, took your best friend away?" as the last question was spoken it was pitch black and everyone was intrigued.
A small white light was showing August lying on a hospital bed. Zhonga walked towards him slowly. People gasp and was keeping it together. Zhonya pulled out a knife and about to stub him.
When the lights was off and the sound of the knife hit skin everyone gasp and when the light came on Zhonya was lying on the floor. August
slowly wakes up.
"Where... Where am I?" August asked not sitting up.
"August. Please take care of my best friend. She means a lot to me. You two would make a great couple. You have my blessing." Zhonya said acting like she was dead and it was the voice of her ghost.
Lee walked in and saw August alive rushing towards him and hugging and kissing him, "I am so happy you're alive." Lee said.
"Is Lovely okay?" He asked not knowing her body was next to them.
Then Lee's scream boomed the theater. She screamed at the sight of her best friend dead. And a letter in hand. Lee kneeled next to her body and was crying her eyes.
"No! Lovel, don't do this to me. Doctor! Lovely." She waz trying to wake her up.
When she opened the letter and August was standing next to her, kids was posing like it was a flash back. "Dear October, I remember the day we first met. You and I were shy, but our moms was the best of friends they ever had. They made us promise that we'd be like them." Now it was Lee and Zhonya acting as their mothers. The kids was them and they were the kids. "I gave up my life for August because I know he can give you
happiness more than I can. Hey, I can't give you babies. But remember this, whatever happens to me I'd be always watching over you, make sure nothing bad is going to happen. If something does happen to you I'd come back to life and eat that asshole because I'd probably be a zombie by then. Anyway I am lucky, happy, and thankful for meeting you and having you as my best of friend. My only friend to be exact. I love you and keep on living for you and our family. Love, Lovely Zi." And as the light fades and the last couple was seen. End of production.
A moment of silence and everyone cheered and stood up, the lights came on and Zhonya was nowhere to found. She waited Lee at the backstage. "That was amazing Zho, I didn't know you memorized the script." Lee was surprised.
"Hey, I help you practice at the cafe without me holding a script." Zhonya said when a man walked towards her.
"Hi, Miss. You out on quite a show out there." He said as Lee was surprised and
excited.
"Ahm, thank you sir." Zhonya was feeling a but shy when she heard a compliment.
"Can I schedule you on an interview?" He suggests.
"What? I mean, Yes. Of course sir." Zhonya was freaking out yet she remembered what Jerry said. "Ahm, sir sorry but I can't."
"Zhonya!" Lee was surprised.
"Sorry but I can't afford being here. I would have to sell my apartment before I could go here. I am not a rich person..." She was cut off by Lee butting in.
"Dean Preston, She'll think about it but the interview is on. I make sure of it, maybe next saturday?" Lee said when Dean was thinking and nodding.
"Alright Nathalie, miss you have potential hope you don't waste that talents." He said walking away.
"What's the deal girl? That was the dean of Performing." Lee said holding Zhonya both on the shoulders.
"What I said to him doesn't change. I can't afford per semester here. I have to sell my apartment and that would only cover my first semester." Zhonya explained and got a text from Jerry. 'Gotta go, emergency at work.' He texted. She replied and asked Lee to grab something to eat.
"Okay, how about this? You are free today right?" Lee asked and Zhonya nodded.
"How about a tour of the campus and sit-in in one of my classes. Sounds good?" Lee insisted
She chuckled and sighed, for she was giving in to Lee, "Okay, only this once. If I don't like it I won't go to the interview..." She was cut off by the sight of the campus.
People were playing instruments, filming, taking photos and all kinds of stuff. They are just like normal students but giving it all to being creative. Yet, there are groups.
"There's my friends." Lee said pointing at the girls who were sitting away from the
groups.
"Hey, Lee!" The woman that called her said.
"Hi girls, this is my best friend. Zho, this is my team in production. Jane the choreographer." Lee said pointing at the woman with tank top showing her side bra and sitting on top of the table. She has short wavy hair. "Jean, my Director. If you need someone to boss you around she's your gal." They chuckle, Jean was the one
with super wavey, brown, hair and wearing a red skinny jeans and black jacket covering her white tank. "Rose, my assistant and soon to be novelist." She said referring to the woman who called her. "Julie our hair, make-up and dress stylist." She said referring to the woman with short, straight, hair. "Lastly, Meet Nicole. Our storyboard artist. You and her might get along because she likes comics and anime." She said referring to the woman with a camouflage green jacket, under it was a purple tee of a famous team in football, and black short. Her hair was in a messy bun.
"It's great meeting my best friend's wardens. Thank for not letting my friend here killed." She joked and they are all laughing.
"Hi, so we heard from a little raven that you can do absolutely everything?" Jean asked.
"Not, everything. I still can't make myself look pretty." Zhonya replied.
"Don't worry hun, us too. We get our makeup done by Julie here." Jane said pointing at Julie.
"I told you guys, it's just like coloring a picture. Only you can't quite control the color." Julie explained.
"You know that's why I don't like makeup, I like my colors controlled." Nicole said coloring her new comic.
"So we watch the play and it was amazing Lee, Zho why didn't you apply this year?" Rose said looking at Zhonya.
"I can't. I have a full time job, if I quit that I won't be able to afford anything." She explained.
"That's easy why don't you try and do arts for a job? With us you can get a little boost." Jean said wanting her in their group and in this school.
"Come on, see this students here? They have more buyers than me even with the boosts you guys give me. Who would by my art anyway?" Zhonya said when the girls are concerned.
"Who's the douche bag that's keeping you from doing this?" Jane asked looking at her.
"What? There's..." She was cut off by Lee.
"Zho? Did Jerry said something?" Lee asked making her uneasy.
"Whose Jerry?" Rose asked surprised.
"My boyfriend. He means well, he was right I need to be practical. Dreams costs a lot to make it happen." Zhonya said being all under him.
"Zho, don't tell us you're under?" Nicole was concern.
"What? No. I'm not." Zhonya defended.
"Does whatever he say affects you in a major way?" Rose asked where Zho and Lee answered at the same time.
"Yes/No" Lee agreed while Zhonya didn't.
"Remember the time you wanted to watch frozen when he said he'd rather watch an action movie at home. Than making you see an animation in cinemas." Lee told them.
"Okay that's one time." Zhonya insists.
"Want me to go on?" Lee threaten.
"Okay, go ahead what else?" Zhonya dared her.
"How about the time where your aunt gave you two hundred dollars for your dream art supplies but lets you buy him his dream laptop you even had to do over time just so you could get it. And you see him doing the same?" Lee explained.
"Okay that was two." Zhonya said scared of realizing she was right.
"Why are you still in a relationship with this guy anyway?" Jean asked concern about her new friend.
"Okay, promise me no one would ever know about this?" Zhonya said even Lee was listening. "I'm still a virgin and he respects that. It's hard to find a guy like that."
"Oh, Honey. It's not a reason. You know how many guys would do the same without any catch, only your tender love and care will do." Lee said encouraging her friend.
"Okay, let me..." She was cut off by a disturbing text. She stood up and about leave, when Lee stopped her. Tackling her in a hug burying her face on Lee's shoulder.
"Why? Hey? Are you alright Cupcake?" Lee asked as the girls stood up trying to comfort her.
"What happened? Did we say something?" Rose asked when Nicole took her phone and open it.
