Chapter 8: Chapter eight: Struck with placement
" I feel like it's been just a day instead of a week. And, thanks to Midoriya, I learned so many ways to use my quirk." Ashido let out, stretching her arms out.
The three once more walked together. They are walking down the halls of Yuuei, to the locker rooms. The day of the sports festival was finally here. The three weren't the only one walking there, however. The whole class was with them.
" There's no need to thank me Ashido-san. I'm pretty sure you would figure it out by yourself." Midoriya told. The confidence behind his words flown through her. Knowing she didn't have great intelligence, she believed what he said.
" I guess you're right." Ashido said plainly. " Of course he's right. You are the one who came up with that one technique. Wasn't it called the 'Melting walker'?" Kristina stated.
" Well yeah-"
" That was so cool! Having your acid cover your whole body is deadly...in a good way!" Midoriya added.
" Alright alright. You don't have to butter me up!" Ashido said.
The group made it to the locker rooms. Going inside and changed into the gym uniforms. Midoriya had a feeling that it wouldn't be hero outfits, no need to mess up so many of them. Yet, Ashido wanted to show off hers.
The whole class went to the area where Aizawa told them to be. The other class was there too. The ones Midoriya was most interested in was class 1-b, the other hero class. So had unique looks like his class. He then saw an orange-haired girl in the front of that class. 'Kendo Itsuka frim class 1-b, the class president if I'm not mistaken by what Yaoyorozu told us.'
Soon, A loud voice came up. He announced the Sports festival and tried to hype the crowd. Then, he made a signal, which probably meant that they should make an entrance.
The students came in with a roar of claps and cheers. The bright light that came in contact with him made him flinch, though he gazed out. Explosions of any kind in the far distance. The whole thing gave him a nervous feeling.
" This is intense." Midoriya thought.
" Yeah, totally a different feeling I expected." Kirishima said. " Agreed."
The space had gotten more crowded when they all gathered to the stage in front. Midnight had stood on it. As the crowd in the back and the students stopped the commotion, she then began her talking.
" Welcome all to Yuuei's sports festival, where we see are remarkable students skills. Before we start, however, a word from both our first place students at the entrance exam. Bakugo Katsuki, please come up, being the first place student in solo placement."
Bakugo came up to the stage; it gave Midoriya bad vibes, the feeling that it wouldn't go well with whatever he says.
With no facial expression, he said, " There's not much for me to say... But that I'm gonna win. All these extras are here for the petty 'competition'. I only see one that could be 'trouble' for me. Tch, as if it will come to that."
The audience had an awkward boo but questioning who the potential rival is.
Midnight watched as he went back down, saying, " Uh, well said Bakugo. (I was thinking this: Uh chile, anyways ) Next, Midoriya Izuku and Ashido Mina come up. First place in the team portion."
Walking up the stairs, something started frightening him. Was the audience full of people that some were pro heroes, scouting out some student heroes to take in? Wrong, it was the eyes on him like the past.
As they both stood in front of the microphone, Ashido went ahead first, seeing how nervous Midoriya is. " We just want to say this had a different feeling than we expected. But that won't stop us from doing our best to win, and the same goes for the rest. So we're gonna do our best, Plus Ultra style!"
This time, the crowd gave a warm round of applause for her speech. She gave a big sigh of relief. The two walked down the steps. Midoriya tapped ok Ashido's shoulder, wanting to thank her, but she was one step ahead.
" Don't worry about it. I saw you were getting nervous up there, so I took control. No need to thank me, K?"
He nodded, 'yeah, nervous..."
Midnight had soon announced the first activity. It was the obstacle race. Knowing this school, it wasn't going to be a normal obstacle race, including the use of quirks.
The students lined up at the gate, shining light at the end. As Presentmic gave the final count down, the temperature suddenly tanked down. A light blue color appeared from beneath them. Midoriya instantly knew what it was, then jumping onto someone else.
The person below him starts to yell at him, which he ignored. Not even a second later, the hall was frozen, but only the lower half. He got off the person and dashed forward on the ice, then looking around to see some of his class and others, but lost had got stuck.
Now it was a race against the ice and Fire quirk, or ice only.
Now out the tunnel of ice, he saw Todoroki in the distance. He left a sheet of ice on the ground, making it harder for him to catch up.
Likely for him, he's able to breathe fire. He took a breathe, big enough to get him all the across without hitting his throat and let it loose. Using his telekinesis to make it narrow. It shot down the ice path, almost hitting Todoroki.
The ice was then melted and he made a run for it. An explosion went past him, carrying an ash-blonde. "Too slow Deku, ha!"
" Damn it, I don't have any movement."
Knowing the truth about his quirk, the movement wasn't something he knew yet. But he had to work what he has.
Not very long, he caught up to the now still Todoroki. " Why'd you stop moving?"
" because of that." he pointed toward the dust cloud that had a figure in it. It stomped out and it was the zero point robot from the entrance exam.
" That's a great reason." Midoriya told, shocked at the sight of it.
" good. Now I'm gonna go."
" eh?"
Todoroki got to the ground and whipped around with light blue particles forming. Ice struck the robot, freezing it in place. But something seemed off.
That's not balanced!, Midoriya saw his two friends watching it frozen and grabbed their arms. " Don't ask just follow me as fast as you can!"
As the three got under the giant, a loud creak from multiple angles came. It came crashing down, blocking up the students.
Luckily, they didn't get stuck under it. Unfortunately, Todoroki got a bigger lead, Bakugo was already past, along with other classmates that had seen the unstableness.
" Thanks Midoriya, I didn't see that happening." Ashido said, catching her breath.
" Thank me later. For now, let's get move on."Midoriya started running. The two followed but Ashido getting ahead.
The three soon came across a large field. " What is this supposed to be?".
" it looks like a-" Before Kirishima could finish, someone ran past with a smirk. " You shouldn't be standing there!".
The ground then exploded a pink color. It launched the guy in the air, then landing onto another and made a chain effect.
" Minefield." Midoriya finished for him. They tried to take their time to get across. Stepping over each mine. If they did step on one, Kirishima would block it.
The three came then end, surprisingly quickly. As they made it through the gate, a roar of cheers came
Midoriya Izuku is the first place!! Along with Ashido Mina for the second and Kirishima Eijiro for the Third!!
