Chapter 13: Meeting

Dix failed to realize this maniacal evil-sounding laughter would shine a bad light on him, and that he wasn't alone there in the forest. But it soon dawned on him anyway and cursed himself for his short-sightedness. He understood he wasn't alone, but he didn't search around to start looking for the being he knows is around. He didn't panic and didn't move at all, he just stood there contemplating. He obviously knew who was there with him and where they were. It was the Nine Tailed Beast, the 'natural disaster' in the seal on his stomach. The Demon Fox. He had many names, all of them derogatory, as the humans wanted to exploit him while shunning him for retaliating. He was the only character Dix could feel sympathy for. Kurama.

Dix just stood there for a while. He knew Kurama will be invaluable in his efforts to reach his goals. He had many abilities, and just by him being sealed in his body gave many options and ways for a cooperation to be fruitful. But Kurama hated every human, and Dix was one of them. Even more, he hates the seal he is the prisoner of. He wants revenge and no one can stand between him and his goal. Unless Naruto manages to convince him. Right now Dix was in the shoes of Naruto, and even though he had taken every positive aspect with extreme joy, he knew he had to face the problems and drawbacks coming with this role. Convincing Kurama will be one of the most important acts he can do to achieve the peaceful ending the anime got, or something even better. Dix had great ambitions, and Kurama will be a cornerstone of his. But he has to overcome his hatred first.

At the end of this thought Dix put his dominant right hand on his stomach and looked into the distance with a solemn, but at the same time, dismal face. He knew Kurama being in the seal he could see anything Dix does. This would mean their relationship had to be extra good for Dix to mask his actual origins. He had to think, and think hard to come up with a way to convince Kurama without revealing himself. He wanted to exploit him to an extent, the same way as everyone else, but... He felt like Kurama's character is the only one he can wholeheartedly accept. If it came to that, he wouldn't hate having Kurama as his real confidant, his one and only true friend.

There was a way... A way with less lies than truth. Dix had to process the idea many times in his brain, he tried his best to find the possible hurdles along the way. No plans are perfect, but this one has to be. There are too many things hanging in the balance. He would be able to use his previous knowledge without many problems, but he would have to sell himself as someone he isn't. He wasn't sure how well Kurama knew that person, but as long as his knowledge reached, they never actually met.

After hours of silent contemplation, after going trough everything he knew about the lore and Kurama, he had to stick to the first idea he had and pull trough with it. It was daring for sure, and could lead to disaster if he slipped up, but this was his best shot. He had to acquire Kurama's allegiance no matter what. There was no other way.

Dix knew it was futile to keep Kurama waiting. Trying to postpone this meeting would do more bad than good. He wanted to dive right ahead, but he knew he will need every single ounce of chakra he has if the worst happens. He proceeded to disperse every clone he had running around doing their tasks. He gathered all the chakra they had in reserve, together with the progress they made in the last few hours. Dix didn't expect anything major happening while he was just thinking, but the amount of work the 155 clones did in the time they had was astounding. It was seriously extreme. And he planned on doing the same thing for years to come.

The amount of experience that arrived made him feel dizzy for a second, but it cleared fast, as the experience and training was all stored in his brain like a memory. His brain didn't have to process them, because the clones already handled it with their own. It's like he spent 3 hours 155 times. While he was overflowing with joy and excitement, he had to note that he had to limit the amount of time clones can train for in a single session, otherwise the sudden intake of memories could overload or even fry his brain.

Back on topic, with his clones recalled he could finally go and meet Kurama. To actually see him like Naruto did in the anime, it wasn't enough just to take a mental stroll around the seal or his brain or something. Even though they were connected, due to the seal this connection was heavily suppressed, and unless Dix releases Kurama, he could only gain access to him by a special method. He had to access a deeper part of his psyche where they can meet face-to-face. In Dix's previous life this state was called 'Alpha-state'. It's a deeper part of one's consciousness which, upon accessed, leads to the deepest desires and emotions of a person. Somewhere in the labyrinths of his subconscious, he would find the cage holding Kurama.

He began the dive with extreme caution. He already came here once, at one of his meditations, when he wanted to explore every part of his body and psyche, so he knows what he can work with. But these parts of him actually scared him. He had to make sure he stays out of the way of some of the nastier emotions as he navigated the labyrinth. It looked the same as it did in the anime. Infinite corridors of metal and pipes with water on the floor reaching to the ankle. Even though he had seen many doors and corridors leading to different parts of his subconscious, he didn't dare enter as he had no way to know what he will find. He just kept going. It took him quite a while, as he never wandered this far before for various reasons, but he could have felt the strong negative emotions, which he knew weren't his own, emitting from a specific direction. They were like a compass for him, and soon he found that one door he was looking for.

As he entered, he had arrived to a huge chamber, which he couldn't see the end or the top of. As he took a few more steps some monumental bars showed up in front of him. These were the restraints of the seal. Dix also noticed a huge solid part in the middle of the line of bars, which had 'Seal' written on it. This was the locking mechanism.

The seal was found but something was missing... Dix couldn't see Kurama, which was peculiar for sure. Right as he wanted to take a few more steps closer to investigate, a huge explosion-like tremor shook the whole place, followed by the loudest roar Dix ever heard. Yep, Kurama was still there, and it had seemed like he was pissed. As the roar and the trembling stopped Kurama showed up right in front of the seal, with his huge body covered by orange fur, his fox-like face and strangely humanoid upper body. Also he still had his signature nine tails. Dix was seriously glad he was on the other side of the bars. There was a second of stop, as they both checked each other out. Dix was actually scared shitless. He was surprised by Kurama's behavior for sure and was glad he got time to gather his bearings.

All the while Kurama had no idea what to do. All the previous memories of the kid ran trough his head and he was having a turmoil about how to handle something like this. He was perplexed, and even a bit terrified. There is no way a newborn was capable of what this monster achieved in four years. After seeing the last stunt the kid pulled, he even had to consider their power being comparable in the near future. He had simply no idea how this could happen. Wanting to rid himself of these though he just shook his head, then looked straight at the little demon in front of him with his burning red eyes. After the short pause came the most important question that will define the rest of the negotiations.

"Who... What the hell are you?"
