Chapter 15: Curse of the Undying
A month passed since Kai began his educational journey in Hogwarts. Kai is attending Hagrid's class which is Care of Magical Creatures when he notices Hagrid is a bit absent-minded.
He follows Hagrid's eyes seeing a big blue carriage being pulled by twelve Abraxan Horses. Kai was now curious to find out who was inside the carriage when he remembered that Hogwarts would be hosting the Triwizard Tournament this time so inside the carriage must be the representatives of another school.
But Kaiser then noticed something else a giant Galleon emerging from the Black Lake. It looked almost like a Ghost Ship which Kai found cool showing that he was still a kid.
"It seems our class will be cut short for today since our guests for the Triwizard Tournament have arrived," says Hagrid informing the class as they were taking care of various Nifflers which are small and greedy little Magic Beasts that are quite adorable once they get attached to a person but you should still control your pockets before leaving class.
Hagrid collected the Nifflers and told the class that they should all go to the Great Hall once it was dinner time before leaving himself to make sure that the Giant Squid living in it won't attack the new arrived ship.
Kai on the other hand walked around Hogwarts when he came across of Hermione and the gang as they were fighting with a group of Slytherin students making Kai sigh in relief that he was a Ravenclaw as he heard from Morrigan about everything that happened over the years and Kai was on his way to an underground chamber.
It was a chamber which wasn't opened in many years. The last time it was opened was almost a century ago by a transfer student just like him just that he was a Fifth Year Student while Kai is a Fourth Year Student.
The corridor he walked down was full of cobwebs and small house spiders arriving at the end of the corridor he walked down some circular stairs until arriving at a door with a symbol which Kai saw many times while studying Magic under Logan.
"Ancient Magic, I thought that Hogwarts didn't know how to wield it since nobody has used it in centuries," says Kai touching the symbol made out of glass which reacted to him opening the door for him.
"There are many secrets still hidden in this castle. This is only one of them," says Morrigan standing beside Kai when Kai walked forward feeling a bit weird as he stops looking at the room which seemed to have a statue of a Knight standing at the center.
"This room is called the Map Room. The group who used this room was called Keepers. They guarded Ancient Magic and protected the Wizarding World from misusing said Magic. Too bad that the Last Keeper died by the hands of a Masters. It is no wonder that nobody knows how to use Ancient Magic," says Morrigan as they continued walking forward when Kai felt the ground shake for a moment.
His amulet began to shake and his instincts took over as his ropes disappeared replaced by his armor and axes while rolling out of the way.
He heard a loud and heavy noise as something hit the ground. He looked to where he stood a moment ago finding the knight which stood at the center of the room holding a two-hander in his hands which was at the moment embedded in the ground.
"It seems one of the Keepers must be still alive," says Kai since he could feel Ancient Magic coming from the Knight who lifted his sword out of the ground.
Kai looks at it seriously when he says, "ᚤᛟᚢ ᛗᚨᛞᛖ ᚨ ᚷᚱᚨᚡᛖ ᛗᛁᛋᛏᚨᚴᛖ ᚹᚺᛖᚾ ᚤᛟᚢ ᚨᛏᛏᚨᚲᚴᛖᛞ ᛗᛖ. ᛁ ᚹᛁᛚᛚ ᛋᚺᛟᚹ ᚤᛟᚢ ᚹᚺᚤ ᛁ ᚹᚨᛋ ᚷᛁᚡᛖᚾ ᛏᚺᛖ ᛏᛁᛏᛚᛖ 'ᛗᛁᚷᚺᛏᚤ ᛒᛖᚱᛋᛖᚱᚴᛖᚱ'."
This surprised Morrigan because she didn't know that Kai could speak Old Norse as she says, "You made a grave mistake when you attacked me. I will show you why I was given the title 'Mighty Berserker'. Let's find out if it truly fits you."
Morrigan stretched her hand out and empowered the Knight with her magic making it stronger and faster while the armor turned black.
Kai didn't care as he took his axes and grasped them firmly while walking toward the Knight he spit on the ground. The knight grew bigger but Kai didn't care and just sprinted at it.
The Knight once Kai was in range attacked swinging his sword vertically down only to find Kai running up his sword covered in a small veil of mana which surprised Morrigan even more since Magic came from the Earth granting people the gift of Magic.
But Kai's Magic does come from there too but at the same time it doesn't as he has an own core of something else in his body which is called Mana or Magicka powering his Magic as well.
Kai ran up the sword and was right before the knight when he jumped again holding both axes over his head and looking like he was about to dunk a ball when he hit the helmet of the knight getting his axes stuck on it.
The knight removed one hand from his sword and grabbed Kai who was still hanging from the helmet before throwing him against a wall.
Kai now embedded in the wall and still holding on to his axes pushed himself forward before landing on the ground again.
He spit out blood now before looking up as he feels his amulet shaking furiously seeing the knight's sword right over him. Morrigan thought that this battle was over and wanted to destroy the knight but she then notices something else.
It was something that many Masters had inherited from her husband as Kai's eyes turned red. He gave a roar from himself that resembled that of a beast while looking like a madman.
"He really is a Mighty Berserker," says Morrigan seeing that Kaiser had really inherited Jorunn's Blood when suddenly Kaiser was stabbed by the sword of the knight pinning him down on the ground by the massive sword while Kaiser only roared more fearlessly.
Morrigan needed to stop the battle now for real when she suddenly feels someone touch her shoulder interfering her from saving Kai and turns around to see Odin standing there with Fenrir, Jörmungandr, Huninn and Muninn.
"This isn't over yet. He inherited something else from your husband as well," says Odin since he only saw it once and he felt fear when he saw it the first time.
Kaiser let go of his axes as he grabbed the blade that was pinning him down using all of his strength by instinct to pull it out moving the knight backward as the blood staining the blade slowly returned to Kaiser's body while his organs began to repair themselves using his mana and rage.
Kai wasn't clear-minded at the moment and everyone could see that since he used a lot of strength to throw the blade and the wielder through the room.
He walked forward and Morrigan had her eyes open-wide as she says, "That can't be I only cursed Jorunn with this. No other family member should have contracted this curse and that the blood would return to his body wasn't part of the curse but the healing of the wounds were."
She turns to Odin and asks, "How is it possible?"
"He like your husband are natural Berserkers. You cursed your husband with the Curse of the Undying making it impossible to kill him while he was in a Blood Rage. Kai has inherited the curse but he also has learned under Logan's wife some Magic. One day he unconsciously used both at the same time and everyone was scared of what happened," says Odin worried as he was holding Gungnir ready to calm Kai down should he forget himself completely.
"He almost killed his teacher Eivor by accident ofnit wasn't for Thor and Logan stopping him. There are only two ways to stop him now. One would be to let him finish this battle. The second you know better than anyone else," says Odin not telling it out in the open knowing that there were people listening in on their conversation as he turned towards the four giant mirrors.
"You should stop your play and reveal yourself or feel the wrath of Odin Borrson," says Odin making four people reveal themselves.
"We are quite sorry about spying on you," says the oldest of them all politely as he watches Kai demolish the room with the knight.
"Are you sure that he is a Mage and not a Warrior?" asks the only witch in the round.
"Oh, he is both and worthy of the title given by Thor," says Odin seriously as he continue looking at Kai fighting against the Knight.
Kai had already let go of the blade and was using his bare hands hitting and carving a hole into the chest piece of the armor before punching the air creating two circular portals which his hands went through before appearing bigger from over the knight grabbing the knight by his arms.
He then pulled ripping the knight's arms out when his hands returned form the two portals he created with the arms now shrunken to normal size.
Kai still roared and he summoned his axes which flew towards him before embedding them into the chest of the Knight repeatedly until the knight wasn't moving any longer and Kai returned from his Blood Rage when he looks around and sees his partners and Odin before saying, "Havi."
Then he collapsed right there and Odin says, "If words of this leaves this room I will return and destroy this room and everything related to any of you four."
Odin then taps the ground with Gungnir repairing the room as well as the knight protecting it while Fenrir and the others rushed to Kai's side.
"How long will he be out?" asks the oldest of the four and Odin looks at Kai before sighing.
"Thirty minutes since he has too much mana in his body. I think it was his carelessness that activated his Blood Rage by accident. He fought bigger and stronger beings before. This one wasn't much of a challenge," says Odin seriously while Morrigan walked over toward Kai looking after him trying to remove the curse from him.
"You can't remove the curse. It has already been alterated by Kaiser himself by accident when he used Blood Magic at the same time as Blood Rage. The Curse of the Undying was made to keep the person long enough alive to finish his battle and be treated by a medic. Kaiser doesn't need a medic since can use magic to heal himself and control his own blood using Blood Magic," says Odin looking at Kai as his armor repaired itself.
"Logan put him through worse things. I have seen him regenerate two hearts in less than three minutes trust me if I tell you that this small test you put Kai through was nothing compared to what Logan did to him," says Odin as he glared at Fenrir before saying, "Look after him. We all want to keep our head on our shoulders."
Fenrir glares back but nods before laying down beside Kaiser with the other while Odin touches the ground again and the knight turned into a big sphere full with Ancient Magic.
"He did quite a good job before he died the last Keeper hiding it in a statue instead of letting it under Hogwarts," says Odin before leaving in a storm of crows knowing that Kai would be alright.
