Chapter 66: 66. Hassle
RuQian hurried after changing her clothes to leave for the meeting about her contract. Lan Xie's parents weren't home so she just changed and left. If they had been home, she would've gotten late.
She instructed her driver to hurry up as she didn't want to be late. Nobody liked tardiness and especially from someone like her who wasn't even famous. People would think she was putting on airs if she was late.
Bai Xing, RuQian's lawyer was already waiting for her in the underground parking lot by the time she arrived at the company. This time RuQian was discreet as she entered the company from the underground parking lot elevator itself. The last time she entered from the main door only because she thought the company would mostly be empty, but that didn't happen.
She wasn't planning to reveal herself. It wasn't like she would start endorsing the company products anytime soon. So it was better for her to maintain her distance, for now at least.
"Miss RuQian, what will your demands be? I should, at the very least know what your wishes are from the company to negotiate the terms." Bai Xing was starting to get a little nervous, because he had no idea whatsoever what the deal was about. He only knew that RuQian would be endorsing her grandfather's company products, he had no clue about the details.
"You don't have to worry yourself over this matter. You are only here because I am not of legal age yet. Or else I wouldn't have even called you over." RuQian's eyes were closed as she responded to his boring questions. Even Bai Xing could tell she was just answering out of politeness.
"But Miss RuQian wouldn't it be better to have your guardian over here, instead of me?" Bai Xing still felt a little nervousness. He was a small time lawyer, even though he was good at his job, he still thought RuQian was a kid after all. He didn't want her to have a losing deal because of him. RuQian had been very good to him and his family, even when he had done nothing for her. He felt that he was deeply indebted to her. He shouldn't be dragging her down.
RuQian calmly opened her eyes and glanced at him for a moment and answered his questions as if she was explaining to a kid, "Even if they don't know I'm the owner's granddaughter, you think they have the chance of scamming against me?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh.." Bai Xing dumbly answered, lost in his thoughts. 'Right, her guardian owns this company. How can I be this dumb?' He mentally hit himself on the head, before turning to look at the calm RuQian who had once again closed her eyes. He still had a hard time believing this young woman was just a teenage girl. In her presence even he; a married old man; felt like a small kid. Was there anyone who could make her falter? He highly doubted that.
The elevator opened with a ding. Director Tan, the advertisement director of the company greeted them at the elevator. "Young Miss, welcome." Director Tan was much more respectful. RuQian's eyebrows quirked up. Even if he was impressed with her talent he wouldn't have been this respectful, and more so he had called her young miss.
RuQian sighed softly and stared at Director Tan. He began squirming under the teenager's gaze. He felt a little scared by her stare, he didn't know why he was scared though. Bai Xing scoffed on the side, he had faced that stare before and knew why this man looked scared. He was scared too before. He frankly thought this woman could scare anyone on this planet if she wanted.
"Umm.. Hello, I am Miss RuQian's lawyer, Bai Xing." Bai Xing tried to save this man.
"Huh, Hello, Lawyer Bai, I am the advertisement director. You can call me Director Tan." He grasped the man's extended as if he found a chance to not look in RuQian's eyes.
"Director Tan." Alas, it was just his wishful thinking. He instinctually turned to look at RuQian when she called him, but froze when he saw her expression. Her gaze was staring at him as if she could read his thoughts, but there was a vicious smirk on her lips. She looked like a demoness. He shivered when he saw this expression of hers.
Her lips slowly moved, "I hope you haven't shared the truth of my relationship with Chairman Zhang to anyone else, right?" She smiled as she finished, but her smile looked way worse than her smirk earlier.
"No.. no. How could I?" Director Tan stuttered. So this was why she looked like that? Was it so bad to let everyone know she was the owner's granddaughter? The rumours of her sleeping with the chairman would be gone if they knew about it. So why was she denying this?
"Hmm.. Hopefully I won't have to worry about this." She walked towards the meeting rooms after she finished this. It was better for her identity to be hidden right now. She didn't want to deal with those shareholders just yet. She needed a lot of evidence if she wanted to go against them. If the evidence didn't work, she could always blackmail them into selling their shares, but she didn't want the hassle, she would be prepared for either though.
RuQian had been thinking of leaving the country with Lan Xie, but she was still only thinking about it, she hadn't come to a decision yet. Her decision would depend on the outcome of her party. So she still had to wait. If she stayed here, she would be under constant scrutiny. Not only her grandfather, her classmates, or HIM, but all of the high society, after her identity was revealed. She had stayed away from all those things all these years, but she would have to get into it one day or another. She wanted to use her young age to flee from the dirty eyes of all those people.
She remembered this was the time Lan Xie left in her previous lifetime. It would be easier to convince her grandfather if she and her friend left together. She had to work on many things, but she figured they could be done remotely. The only thing she was worried about was her martial arts. She was currently learning Tai Chi from her master, so she was still on defence and had a lot more to learn. This was the only thing she had to figure out, if she wanted to leave.
But she could wait, it wasn't like she was in a hurry. Lan Xie had finished her high school by finishing many exams at once to get her high school degree. Lan Xie had been preparing for the exams for months now. RuQian could write the exams as well with her, she had the knowledge anyways. Usually this was not possible, but well they were rich, they could make it possible. Unless they got a lower score, or failed, they wouldn't be allowed to try something like that again and had to remain at the school. But she was confident she could do it.
The main reason RuQian wanted to leave for America was that Teacher X wanted her to be there. He said that he would be able to teach her much faster if she was there, since he lived there. She didn't really want to believe him, as she did not even know the person's identity while he knew everything about her, but then he made a compelling offer for her and had even revealed his identity. Of course she still did not know much about him other than his name and face, but he had showed her proofs of the things she had been trying to find, even before her rebirth.
This was an offer she couldn't resist, so she was leaning towards leaving the country for now. She had thought many times of just leaving Lu Xu Mei, or Su Ting alone, but they were the ones who were dragging her through the mud. She couldn't let go. Chang Min hadn't done anything else for now, but she knew Lu Xu Mei and Su Ting would ask him for help if their plans did not work. She would have to deal with him whether she liked it or not.
RuQian sighed out loud, 'Ah, such a hassle.'
