Chapter 3: Chapter Three.

Corrie.

I watched woefully as she left the diner. I just wished I could have a glimpse of her long face one more time for the night and as if she

were reading my mind, she turned jerkily towards me and back.

Holy cow, my night had just been made.

"Then he says I am wrong," Trey said from beside me.

“What're going on about?”

"Miss Gorgeous legs," he snapped back. “

“Save it please.”

"Okay, if you say so," he said with his arms raised.

"Hey there man, what do you think of this piece of shit going out with Miss. Gorgeous legs?" I had him call out to Carl.

"Abso_fucking_lutely man," Carl hit back even with all his attention on Jess. Attend to your woman, Carl. Then I just thought I was getting too obvious with my feelings for Lauren. I couldn't take my thoughts off her and these fools didn't make it any easier since they kept on talking about her in ways that made me want to say *fuck off cause she's mine and will always be* but because I was a wimp I just couldn't see myself saying it out publicly. The diner was almost closing so I decided to grab my things and get going. I didn't even notice Carl and Jess depart earlier. So it was Trey and I left where he was also grabbing his jacket and heading my way.

"Hey man, let's get some rest for today." Trey said as he patted my shoulder. We headed out and departed from each other as I entered my mini SUV. I entered my apartment only to be welcomed by Carrie.

“What the heck are you doing here this late and who the hell let you in.”

"Carl did." She said almost immediately in self defense.

"Hey there, just wanted to tell you Carrie..." Carl stopped as he found me with Carrie.

"I guess you already found her," he said as he turned back on his heel to where it was he had come from.

"Where have you been and why didn't you even bother picking up my calls like you usually did?" Carrie was screaming back at me.

“Working.”

"Since when do you even work."

“Since the day I decided that I needed to make money and who the hell do you think you are questioning me.”

"You have a sudden change in attitude lately."

“Ooh really, I didn't seem to notice my own attitude.”

"It's because of her, right? I guess you started seeing her and spending more time together."

“Sorry?”

"Don't act surprised. This is just so surreal. I'm killing that bitch."

“You're the pathetic one here. Just go back to wherever the hell you came from before you got here and don't even look hurt cause the look doesn't look pleasant on you.” "Un_fucking_believable, you're the worst."

Then she was out and her presence was just enough to ruin my night. I just decided I needed some sleep. I headed to my room after grabbing a fruit off the counter.

Lauren.

I took a cab back to my apartment after getting out of the diner. It was already getting cold and the air was filled with a cool breeze

with a peaceful atmosphere with only noise from the swaying tree branches and the screeching sound of the car tyres. It took me just fifteen minutes to get back as usual. I was guessing I would find Tess still wide awake as always but I was surprised to find an even empty apartment.

"Tess," I called out just to make sure but there was no response.

When I had just reached my room, I had the front door open justalmost immediately. “ Tess, is that you?”

“Yeah, it’s me. Did I wake you?”

“Not exactly and perhaps I just got back shortly before you.”

“I am soo excited. You won't believe what just happened.” She seemed so happy and needed to talk about it as usual so I left my room and headed towards the kitchen where she was jumping around jocundly while pouring a glass of cold milk for herself which she took every night.

"Guess what, guess what."

“What? Just spill it already.”

"I am so freaking happy. Colton just asked me out."

“Finally.”

“Yeah finally and you can't believe how he did it. You know how I told you earlier that he was coming over with a movie, well he didn't. He came picked me up and took me by some place I didn't even know existed. It was beautiful and full of roses and you could

have a whole beautiful view of the pool we normally went to. So he had organized it in form of a mini camp with mats, pillows and

carpet full of drinks, snacks and food. He lay his laptop somewhere close enough to be visible on which he had downloaded the movie I now consider the most romantic, for you the one I want. It was fucking awesome and romantic. I had butterflies in my tummy the whole time and at the end of the movie where I had my eyes focused came a clip where Colton had recorded himself as he repeated the same exact words he had said in the videos as he knelt right in front of me with these flowers I'm holding right now.

It was the most beautiful moment of my life. Lauren, he fucking asked me out.”

I looked at her and noticed tears running down her cheeks which I guessed were tears of mirth. I moved closer to hug her as she kept wailing.

"Colton fucking asked me out." I was so happy for her cause he really always endeavored to make her happy each time he came over and she had started smiling again after a long while after she had gone through the most painful break up. I admit that it was even worse than my own. Three months back she had received a recorded video from an unknown number of her boyfriend speaking shit. He had said he fucking didn't care about that bitch who happened to be Tess. He had just asked her out and stayedwith her for that long just because his friends and him had made a bet on who gets to date a fucking babe he doesn't even like and gets laid sooner than all the rest. On top of that they said it had to be one of the virgins as they said all those who were virgins by then were just stupid and quirky. He was speaking to his friends in the video and showing off how he had won the bet but I think he didn't expect to have someone record it. He also mentioned how none of his friends should ever go for her cause she was even a lazier and boring bitch in bed that as just a person where by the next morning everyone had seen the video. He had badmouthed her even after taking advantage of her and the dude fucking admitted to it all without any bit of remorse saying he was proud of it. Fucking asshole. But now seeing her happy with Colton was rather promising she had gotten out of her depression and perhaps Colton was nothing like that dumb ass of her ex-boyfriend. But she still keep wailing which at that point i knew was as a result of being disconcerted or just disbelief that this was actually real other than another game by the dudes in their locker room.

We chatted for some more time until she was finally calm and headed to bed. I hurried for the bathroom and jumped into mynighties but just before I could reach for my bed, there was a knock on the door. My thoughts quickly went to Corrie but no it couldn't be him perhaps he didn't even know I stayed here. I asked Tess if she was expecting anyone but she said she wasn't. I just reached for the door where by before I could even open it fully, it was swung open by a scorning Carrie.

"I'm going to stick my nails into your eyes, bitch." She said that as she came closer swings her dirty hands to grab me causing me to squeal and leap backwards where I bumped onto the cupboards in the kitchen.

"Why don't you fucking mind your business and stick to your boring single pathetic life and fucking leave Corrie alone?"

“Excuse me?”

"Don't act like you know nothing about what I'm talking about cause I know you do wholeheartedly."

"First of all, you can't appear here and start speaking shit about my roommate."

I almost got swept off the floor by Tess's words Her eyes were still swollen red from the constant crying earlier. She was now clad in her pink barbie pyjamas that Colton had bought for her on her lastbirthday with her hair tied up in a band. She was swiftly moving to where Carrie stood with a bemused look on her face. I moved my hand forward to stop her from getting to Carrie cause I knew how much harm she could do while angry. The last she had fought with somebody was when some girl she didn't even know was talking about her ex-boyfriend and she had sent the girl straight to a hospital bed with a broken nose. She had quite the man energy where after realizing who he was, she had regretted it all and apologized to the girl she had beat up.

"Who the heck are you even?" Carrie said as she stepped back from Tess.

"The girl who is about to rip your eyes out as soon as you don't leave this apartment this very instant," she snapped back almost immediately.

"Ohh wait, aren't you that bitch every guy was told to stay away from cause of your total laziness and bore even in bed? Yes of

course, you are!" Carrie had left us startled. She had messed with Tess's weakest spot and I knew by now she was going to break

down so I thought I should step in now but before I could do anything the front door swung open revealing a furious Jess.

"I had a feeling I should come here after hearing you speak shit in front of Corrie," she said facing Carrie.

"Wow, I see you have very many body guards ready to fight for you."

"You're so right." Another voice said back almost immediately revealing two men at the door. Corrie and Carl were also here. This

wasn't happening. Just some few weeks back I was depressed with no friends but Jess and an a asshole ex-boyfriend but here I was with four people defending me in the middle of the night. How lucky had I become? I looked at everyone and just then I felt tears cloud my eyes.

"So you may as well get your ass out of here before we help you to it." Carl was now saying.

"I fucking can't believe you are now defending this boring lifeless bitch." Carrie said back.

“Then you better start believing it right away. Corrie's words left me askew.”

I couldn't believe I didn't have to worry anymore about anything cause I had so many people standing up for me. I thought of a way I could ever repay them but didn't seem to find any.

"This won't end here." Carrie called out as she left the apartment as she sheepishly pushed her way between the two men who still stood on either side of the door.

"Babe, you're good?" Carl asked as he came closer to me and hugged me as Jess also wrapped her hands around me. Even the

weeping Tess had stopped immediately she had seen Carl and Corrie which had left her in total awe. Looking to where Corrie stood earlier on, he wasn't there any longer.

"Let's get you back to bed before we head back," Carl announced as they took me towards my room. I don't think any of them had noticed Corrie was gone. They kissed me goodnight and were out before I could even bring myself to ask about Corrie. Why had he

left just like that before I could even thank him? He had just saved my life and varnished without a single word. I thought I should send

him a text thanking him but remembered I didn't have his number.

It took me time to get sleep but it came anyway some time later after a series of thoughts of Corrie obviously.

Corrie.

As soon as Carl and his woman moved closer to comfort Lauren, I knew I didn't have to stay here cause we were barely friends which seemed even odd I had been forced to come just immediately I found out Carl and Jess felt it necessary to go check on Lauren.

They had imagined Carrie would head there. I had found it astonishing but went ahead with them. I waited outside in the car for about ten minutes before Carl and Jess showed up at the door clinging onto each other. Fucking assholes couldn't keep their peaceful happy relationship to themselves. But I admit they deserved each other. I just always found myself thinking of Lauren whenever the L word and relationship came up anywhere. I thought I was crazy to think of it that way but I just couldn't help it.

"Hey there man, you left too fast, what's up?" Carl brought me back from thinking of the impossibilities.

“Do you guys just want to get in or stand out there the the rest of the night questioning my actions like I'm a little mummy's boy?”

They just looked at each other as if deciding on what to do andfinally made up their minds to enter the back seat. We reached shortly after that even with Jess whom I wasn't sure stayed here mostly or her own place. I just didn't get why she hadn't moved in as yet. I lay on my bed thinking if Lauren was asleep feeling the urge to comfort her so I decided to text her and find out if she were fine which I felt odd but i still picked up my phone anyway. It was just then that I remembered I had never really asked her for her number and I couldn't ask Carl or Jess even if I knew they would give it to me without pleading but I thought it would bring suspicion so I decided to sleep it off. It was even already morning and just thinking of school meant running into Carrie. I didn't know what really disturbed me more than the other, either meeting Carrie or meeting Lauren. I still couldn't seem to figure it out.
