Chapter 15: 15.
Lucas sat on the bed with his back to the wall. Awkward silence filled the room. Lucas stared at Damien. Damien stared back.
One hour earlier..
Lucas stayed in his bed. He had skipped school for two days. Although he had a good pain bearing capacity, it was rusty now. So the impact of the fight, left him sore all over the next day. He decided it was better to rest. He will just study at home.
But the doorbell rang five minutes later. He wasn't expecting anyone.
He opened the door to see Damien standing at the doorstep.
It was past Lunch hour. This guy should be school.
"What are you doing here?"
"Why are you not at school?" Damien asked in a demanding tone.
"Why do you want to know ?"
"I missed you." He said with a straight face.
Lucas rolled his eyes and pulled the door to shut it.
Damien quickly sprung forward and pushed the door open and went inside the house in a quick step.
"What are you doing ? Where do you think you are going ?" Damien ignored the question.
"Why are you not at school?" Damien asked while looking around the house. The house wasnt big but it felt cozy. It was neat and organized.
"I would like to ask you that." Lucas frowned. HE was clearly irritated .
"I brought you notes for the days you missed." Damien handed the book to Lucas.
Lucas' expression changed. He was confused.
"Since when did you start writing notes?" Lucas asked while flipping through the pages. The notes were clear and precise.
"I didn't. Michael did."
Lucas sighed.
"Thank you." Lucas said meekly.
"If you are thankful, how about you tell me why you are not in school?"
"I feel sore. So i decided to rest."
"It's from that day, isn't it ?"
Lucas nodded.
"Don't worry. He will not bother you again."
"What did you do to him? Did you kill him ?" Lucas asked. He had a shocked expression on his face.
"Jeez No, who do you think I am ? I just told him nicely to not bother you . He repents now."
"You must have bullied him. That's what got me into that situation that day." Lucas said. "Now he will think I am your friend."
"Are you not?"
"I-" Lucas hesitated.
Damien waited for an answer.
"I am just your fellow student."
"Why do you have to lie? Do you think I will bring this notes to a fellow student ?"
"Weird. But you must be a nice person." Lucas said with a straight face. His tone however sounded playful.
Lucas realized that he was kind of happy that this guy came here for him. That he actually cared to see him.
Damien looked at Lucas questioningly. Did this guy just talk nicely to me ?,he thought.
He smiled.
"Now thank you for the notes. You can go."
"I just came in here. Is this how you treat a guest?"
"I am sick. I need rest. I can't cater to you."
"Well then I will help you since you are sick."
"No need."
"Oh come on! Its the first time I am here and I brought you the notes. Cut me some slack!"
Lucas sighed. He gave up.
"I will make you coffee."
"I don't want anything. You go back to bed. Take rest"
Damien followed Lucas into his bedroom.
