Chapter 20: 20.
"Someone ratted me out."
Damien was sitting on the couch. Lucas had poured a cup of tea in front of him.
Lucas crinkled his brows.
"Where were you?" Lucas questioned.
"Someone ratted me out."
Lucas waited for Damien to clarify.
"My dad came back . He knew everything about me. How I skipped school , How I am now attending school. How I made new friends. He wanted to discipline me. So I stayed home and behaved in front of him. You know, to get him of my back and all." He smirked slightly.
"Are you okay?"
"Now I am." He smiled his devilish smile. Lucas felt himself blush a bit.
"We have to lay low in school." Damien continued." If he sees I am being close to you he will start an investigation on you. Hell, he might have already done that."
Lucas frowned. He didn't need any more explanation. He understood what Damien meant. Also he wasn't sure he should pry more into his personal life. It didn't seem like he had a warm relationship with his dad.
"Who must have ratted you out ?
"He has got his eyes all over the school. So many rats .This is a rat school."
They both chuckled.
"So what next?"
"I will have to stay away from you. He fears that I should only make business friendship. Use people and throw them. Be friends with people who have to offer something."
Lucas understood what he meant. The "Strict father" he has seen in movies. This guy was living with it.
"He thinks I am useless. And if I act up anymore, he will do everything he can to stop me. " Damien Continued. "So to protect you, I will have to stay away from you at school -Even pretend I hate you."
"When were you close to me ?" Lucas blurted, surprised that Damien thought of him as a friend. All the questions and doubts in his mind had already disappeared. "Why would you protect me ? "
At this point, Damien bent forward , his face an inch away from Lucas'.
"Don't you remember what happened the last time I was here ?" Damien had his devilish grin on his face again
"No." Lucas turned his head away from Damien. The distance was too close for Lucas to keep a straight face.
Damien bent his head and kissed on Lucas lip that was now exposed to him.
Lucas turned his head back to Damien, clearly it was more dangerous to have his neck exposed now.
He backed away to bring more distance between them.
This is too dangerous, he thought.
Damien slouched forward again . He brought his face closer to Lucas.
He had his left hand balanced on the couch. With his other hand, he held Lucas cheek and kissed his forehead and said " I will protect you. " Lucas turned red.
Damien's eyes felt sad. Like he had some pain inside him.
"I really don't want to lose you."
Lucas was stunned. He had no words to respond. And as if something in him was let loose, he quickly leaned forward and kissed Damien.
All the emotions they had, flooded into the kiss. A passionate one , nevertheless.
As they kissed and let the hands roam around each other, Lucas had one question:
"What will happen tomorrow?"
