Chapter 44: Talented Me! 14

The moment she had her eyes on the elevator, Avina moved like the wind. It was just a few meters away, and she was so close. The door opened and an influx of people stampeded out. Avina was pushed to the side, and she could only remain pushed against the wall to avoid them. Once the crowd slowly receded, Avina started making her way back to the elevator.

Unfortunately, the doors started to close at that exact moment. Her eyes could only follow the slowly closing doors as her feet rushed, trying to even make it by a second. The doors closed straight at her face holding no sympathy for the young anxious girl.

Avina quickly turned her head to the numbers above the elevator. They were slowly rising from 0 and stopped at every number before continue. She anxiously stared at the changing numbers, but it didn't seem to want to descend for her at all. Avina looked at her watch and looked back at the numbers. Time was ticking and she only had 5 more minutes left!

'5025! Is there a stairway nearby?' If all buildings were built equal, then there has to be an emergency stairway. She could use that instead!

5025 quickly pulled up the building's interior map and spotted the stairway. It told her to go to the right and there would be a door! Avina turned her legs and started to search for the door, and found it. As expected, she opened the door, and there it was, a winding staircase greeting her.

It was long and winded up to the top appearing to be endless just by looking at it. There was no one in sight, but there was also no one willing to take the stairs when there was a perfectly functioning elevator. She clutched her bag and braced herself to climb 4 flights of stairs. This was for Wilona, for her future, and her mission!

'Fourth floor? I got this!!' With that, her journey to the show began one step at a time. Well, not exactly one step, more like skip a couple of steps.

With each step, it felt as if her legs were burning. From fighting a snake, to biking, and then climbing 4 flights of stairs, it was not an easy workout. Her footsteps echoed in the empty space as her braids bounced up and down. Soon, her heart started to beat furiously, and every breath felt cold to her.

'You can do it, Host! Room 405 is on the 4th floor! Almost there!!' 5025 couldn't help Avina much, but it was willing to be her only cheerleader.

Along with 5025's energetic cheering and her great ability to do things, Avina finally reached the 4th floor. At the sight of the wonderful hallway greeting her, she felt her lungs collapsing. Her entire body was screaming for air wishing she had more than one nose and mouth to breathe.

She could barely stand up on her legs, and it helped no less that she couldn't see. Her sweat was dripping down her forehead into her eyes momentarily blinding her. She could see nothing but the sound of her breath signified she was there. Her only support was the walls next to her.

'5025,' Luckily, all she needed were her thoughts to talk to 5025. "Where's 405? I can't see a thing...'

Being the only one who could see adequately, 5025 navigated Avina to Room 405.

'Just a little more! Wait, you passed it! A little back! Too far! A little forward! Stop!'

Avina moved forwards and backward relying on the words of her dear partner. Her feet tottered to whichever direction 5025 directed, even though her balance was terrible off. In the security cameras, it was a whole other story than a simple girl walking to a room. They saw a girl who looked like she had lost her balance to bears walking in the hallways. Back and forth, back and forth, and finally, she stopped.

Avina had finally reached the room and knocked on the door. It took a few seconds but soon, she heard footsteps and then the door opening. She quickly swept away her messy hair and saw a hazy figure greeting her.

The assistant opened the door but was shocked to see a sweaty girl standing outside. Although she may feel that way internally, professionalism taught her to treat everyone with respect.

"May I know what business you have in Room 405?" she asked.

It wasn't the first time she saw fans standing outside the door nor would this one be the last. Celebrities come into the show, and it can't be helped that sometimes it gets out of hand. Despite there being security at the front desk, it didn't stop all stalkers from coming. Plus, the girl was holding a suspicious bag in her arms. There could be anything in there, best to be cautious.

"Hi! My name is Wilona May," Avina struggled to say. Her throat was parched and desperately desired water. Her voice crackled with every word, and it was hard to discern what she was saying. "I have an invite for the show."

Avina reached into her bag and pulled out the invite. She then handed it to the assistant who accepted it with careful hands. The assistant scanned each part of the letter making sure it was part of the show. When she finished analyzing it, she smiled at Wilona and opened the door further.

"Glad you could make it. We were just about to start filming," she said. She guided Wilona into the set and introduced each part of it to her. Finally, she stopped at a small room and looked at Wilona.

Wilona had an unkempt appearance. Her hair stuck to her forehead from sweat, and she was smelly. Sweaty, smelly, and definitely not show worthy.

"Do you have a change of clothes?" she smiled and asked as nicely as possible. "Something, well, a little more presentable?"

Wilona looked at herself and a faint blush rose on her cheeks. She then presented her bag and said, "I have another set in here."

"Good," the assistant smiled. They were already at the changing room, and her smiling eyes seemed to urge Wilona to step right in.

Wilona could only comply and head straight in. Her head was lowered and avoided the eyes of the assistant. She quickly entered before slamming the door. The blush already on her face intensified, and she groaned. How embarrassing! There were so many people and all of them must have seen her appearance!

'Quickly! I got to wear this dress!' Avina said whilst struggling to remove her clothes.

She untied her pigtails letting them detangle with the help of gravity. Her hair flowed down before separating into beautiful loose curls. She pulled out her blue dress and slipped inside of it. Avina yanked off her shoes and replaced them with a set of low wedges strapping them on. Her hands dove back inside the bag pulling out an assortment of hair accessories. Picking one, she pinned her hair into a half do.

Finally, there was only the dress left to zip. She reached behind her grabbing the zipper and pulling up, but nothing happened. Avina tried a few more times but it still wouldn't budge. She could only stop and stare in the mirror.

Reflecting back was a girl properly dressed except for her dress. Her hair was pulled back neatly showing her small face. She stood tall and confident and a small smile adorned her porcelain face. It was nearly perfect if not for the dress.

The dress hung loosely on her shoulders and slipped at her every move. Avina turned around looking closely at the zipper. She tried again to pull it, but it still wouldn't budge.

'5025,' Avina could only turn to her system for help. 'Any way you can pull up a zipper?'

'Let me see!' A faint light showed before a white cat popped from the shadow.

It jumped up onto a ledge and nibbled the zipper. It moved its head up struggling against the zipper, but it didn't work.

'Sorry, Host...' 5025 stopped its futile efforts and apologized. Avina turned around and patted its head before thinking of what else to do. Her martial arts wasn't exactly zipper pulling quality.

She turned towards the door leading outside and decided to ask another lady for help. But not before seeing who's outside the door. The dress kept on slipping and it was not appropriate if someone accidentally saw something they shouldn't.

So with the all-mighty power of monitors, Avina watched as workers moved past her door. When she saw there only being a single female outside, she felt safe to open the door. She peered outside the left and right and spotted her a couple of meters away.

"Can you help me please?" Avina tried her best to not be too loud. She couldn't attract unwanted attention.

The woman looked up puzzled before spotting Avina poking her head out the door. She was hesitant to walk towards her, but the desperate plea in Avina's eyes won over her.

"Any problem?" the woman looked at the head sticking outside the door.

Avina stared at the young lady in front of her and smiled. A smile always garners goodwill!

"I can't pull up my zipper," Avina said.
