Chapter 14: Seal Of Darkness
I woke up in the infirmary again. I was groggy and had no idea where my head was at, but once I sat up I saw Hope and Emma talking. I must have looked confused because they took one look at me and laughed,
"What?" I asked. They didn't respond, just kept laughing. I took one look at my body and arms, only then did I realize how severe my injuries were. My right wrist was in a cast, the smae with my left leg. I looked at Emma, a look of concern in my eyes. She said,
"It's fine, they're just to keep your bones from any further damage." That instant I felt relieved, and a smile came across my face. I slowly got outta bed, my right leg shaking under the weight of me. I tried to stand but instantly fell back on my bed, I took that as a sign to get back in bed.
"Im gonna get some more rest, is that good with the two of you?" I asked.
"Yeah go ahead, Were just talking." Hope said. I slowly shut my eyes, feelings sleep engulf me.
"Hello my son." A voice said. I opened my eyes to see my father, covered in darkness as usual.
"Hello father," I replied.
"I wanted to give you something, it's a sealing marking." He said. Now he had my attention,
"Go on," I said. He pulled up the right side of his rob, revealing a tattoo looking marking all along his right arm.
"This is the seal of eternal darkness, once in place it gets passed down generation to generation. But the one flaw of this seal is once in place the user's fate gets changed." He said, he began to trail off.
"Usually not for the better I assume." I replied. He nodded, "But there is a chance that if the user is strong enough to awaken the seal's power and change his own fate, this seal can be used as a weapon to uphold the peace in our world." He said, I knew exactly what he meant.
"Do you think i'm strong enough?" I asked. His black shadowy face met mine,
"You are my son, it is in your blood to use this seal." He said, his voice confident.
"So what next?" I asked. All He did was murmur something in greek,
"Σας Erebus σας παραχωρείται τη σφραγίδα του αιώνιου σκοταδιού, χρησιμοποιήστε το καλά" I knew exactly what he said. But before i could process anything my right arm erupted in pain like it was being burned, stabbed, and chopped off all at once.
"Good luck, josh." Were my father's ;ast words to me before I let out a blood curdling scream and snapped awake.
"AHHH.. AHHHH'' I screamed, rolling off the bed in agony. I looked down at my right arm, the marking was spreading up my arm. The same as my father had, "Josh?" Emma yelped as she ran over.
"DOCTOR" Hope screamed.
"NO!" I screamed.
"Stay BACK!!" I screamed, my mouth foaming from the pain. I couldn't stop myself, I kept screaming.
"AHHHHHH!!" I kept screaming and screaming until the pain eventually stopped. I began panting, I looked at my arm. I saw my father's symbol, one on my forearm, my bicep and inner palm. I looked up and down, tracing the line that connected all three symbols. I began climbing to my feet,
"I'm ok." I said to Emma, who was still by my side. I knew this was going to help me in the long run but holy shit did that hurt. I crawled into bed without another word, and fell asleep.
In my dream
My eyes snapped open a moment later to the lord of the deal staring a hole into me.
"Good, you're here." He said.
"Thanks to you my favorite pet has returned home." He said, a boney smile across his face.
"But on a less happy note, Thesis has joined the opposition." He said, gloom in his voice. My jaw dropped, shock etched across my face.
"I firmly believe that my dear boy has a good heart, but in the mindset he is in right now he is easily manipulated." Hades said, sadness in his voice. I surprised myself when I said,
"I'll bring him back, in a body bag if I half too." Hades didn't even bat a boney eye.
"Bring him home to his true family, you." The lord said, with that he vanished in a swirl of darkness. With that I finally got some actual sleep.
Hours later
I gradually opened my eyes, looking around I saw no one in my room. I saw that my casts were off, so I got up and dressed myself. I walked out staring at my arm, the massive marking now only a symbol of my father on the center of my palm. I had to do something to awaken this power, so I walked into the arena. I walked into the center of the massive area, I spread my arms. Unsure of what to do next I tried something, I channeled power into the mark on my hand. Then it felt like my whole arm lit on fire, I looked down and I saw the mark expanding up my arm. I could feel my power rising, but with the more power I got the pain kept rising. I was inches from screaming in pain, my arm kept burning. The pain eventually started to die off, the mark clearly visible all over my right arm. I arose from my knees, panting. I aimed my arm at a nearby wall, and a bolt of pure black lightning show from my hand. A smile etched across my face as I looked at the black score mark on the concrete wall. I tried channeling my darkness into my whole body, I could feel my eyes beginning to glow a blood red.
"This power is truly great!" I thought to myself. I could see the black lightning racing across my body, I ran to touch the wall. And I was there in seconds, almost like I teleported. But It couldn't have been that, I felt the gust of wind as I ran.
"My speed is as fast as teleportation!" I realized. I was about to run again but Hope busted in.
"Josh! Emergency!" She screamed, In a gust of wind I was there.
"What happened." I asked.
"We've got sightings of the wolf man, Lycan!" She screamed. My mind flashed to the greek classes i had taken months ago,
"Lycaon was a cruel king, who tried to trick Zues into eating human flesh. The god turned him and his sons into the first werewolfs." I knew what had to be done.
"Gather my weapons, we're going hunting." I spat. We raced out of the arena straight to the armory.
