Chapter 2: Ch 2 : A FOX CUB
In the middle of the night, a white light appeared at a relatively hidden corner on a mountain.
On this mountain lived hundreds of thousands of spirit beasts but not a single spirit beast dared to get near the place where the white light just appeared as if they feared something.
At the peak of the mountain was a cave that was emanating a hot air from inside it and the white light that just appeared was also coming from it, when the hot air touched the rocks around cave they all melted leaving behind only dust.
Then from the cave came sounds of footsteps. They're slow but steady and resounded in the middle of the silent night. The sound was nearer and nearer until a figure of a man came out of the cave.
A tall man wearing a black robe came out of the cave. The light of the moon shone on his face and revealed his astonishing features. He has a godlike face that can make any woman go crazy for him with only a glance. His skin was pale, not that of a sick person but one that could make any woman jealous.
He has a pair of phoenix eyes that are as cold as ice, so thick that you can only see nothing but darkness through it. His lips are slightly full, the kind that ends in a charming and devilish smirk at the corners. His long hair, that is as black as ink, is tied up in a knot with a jade hairpin that shined beautifully under the moonlight.
His solid body stood there firmly giving the feeling of an unwavering mountain. His back was straight with a hand behind his body while the other one is in front of his belly.
"Now that I successfully broke through, I'll have to go back." The man spoke with a low and charming voice.
He went down the mountain and was about to go away when suddenly he felt like something was tearing apart the space at another peak not too far away.
Teleportation? There still exists someone with enough strength to be able to teleport in this Xia Continent*?
*Xia Continent → 下(lower)大陆(continent)
He was about to go there to see what was happening but then he felt someone approaching him at a fast speed, so he stopped in his tracks.
When the person finally saw the familiar figure that he was looking for standing just before him, he kneeled before him and then spoke with respect and also a hint of hurry: "Master, the spirit beasts from the Beast Forest* started attacking the Xia Continent."
*Beast Forest → 魔兽(magic beast)森林(forest)
The man frowned after hearing this, he looked for a moment at a certain direction and sighed. He could feel that something was attracting him and telling him to go there, but he couldn't do it now.
The kneeling man looked up at his master to see his reaction but he saw that he was looking somewhere else so he followed his line of sight, but he didn't see anything.
"Go to that direction and then report to me if you find anything strange." The man said and just as his voice fell, his figure also disappeared.
Immediate Transfer?! Master broke through! Now that master broke through, those people from the Shang Continent* will no longer be a danger for master. But...
*Shang Continent → 上(upper)大陆(continent)
After he came to himself, he pondered about his master's reaction. What was Master looking at? Is there something in this Continent that could pique Master's interest?
When nobody was there anymore a voice resounded in the middle of the night.
"Hehehehe, what an interesting brat (referring to the master) to have such strength at such a young age. But that teleportation from before was strange, probably it was someone that was teleported from the Upper World* or even above. Hehe, I'm really curious at who was it, I should hurry if I don't want it to be taken away by that little brat (the subordinate)."
*Upper World → 上(upper)界(world 世界)
A little figure appeared for a moment where the two men stood before were but then it disappeared again into the dark night.
In another peak, a little white fox cub was sleeping peacefully while it was surrounded by thousands of beasts.
If someone else saw this scene, he/she would be shocked to death because all the strongest spirit beasts on these mountains were all kneeling on the ground around a little fox while other spirit beasts were still coming from afar.
Suddenly a figure appeared in the middle of the spirit beasts, just beside the sleeping fox cub.
It was an old man that was very short, he could have at least the same height as a ten years old child.
"So, this was the thing that created all that ruckus." He said while looking at the little fox inside the layers of barriers and then at the beasts surrounding him.
When his unfazed eyes met these of the spirit beasts it caused them to tremble uncontrollably with fear.
"I will take this little thing, don't try getting in my way if you still want to live." The old man said with a serious voice while his playful tone of before completely disappeared.
This old man was the same person that overheard the conversation between the master and subordinate of before and decided to come here to join in the fun.
His strength was above them so they didn't feel his presence and he could find the little thing before them in just a moment not to say that he already knew where the teleportation happened, with his strength he already felt it but he wasn't in a hurry.
When the spirit beasts heard of his words, they retreated a step unconsciously and trembled harder, they wouldn't suspect of his words because they could feel an immense pressure coming from this human even if he didn't do anything.
Seeing their reactions, the old man just turned towards the sleeping fox cub and started approaching it. When he arrived before it, he lightly swung his arm as a strong wave of spirit energy went towards the layer of barriers created by the woman.
Crack. The layers of barriers cracked, and he stretched out his hands to take the little thing.
When the little thing was finally in his arms he felt as if his heart melted from the touch.
He caressed the little fox's fur fondly but then he felt something cold under its fur, he searched for the source and saw a jade pendant with written on [明玥]
"Ming Yue? Is that this little thing's name? Umm?" He said to himself when he saw an interesting thing while he was playing with the jade pendant.
"What's this? Isn't it the Ming Clan's direct descendant's emblem? Why is something like this in this little thing's hands? Wait a moment...its surname is also Ming..."
The old man was so shocked that he didn't know what to do. To confirm his thoughts, he let some of his spirit energy go inside the little fox's body to feel its bloodline.
What a powerful and pure bloodline!
He could feel the blood of the royal family of the Nine-Tailed foxes, the mystical beast's Empress's blood and a powerful human bloodline, the direct descendants of the Ming Clan.
There's no doubt! She* is the daughter of the mystical beast's Empress Ye Lan, and one of the direct descendants of the Ming Clan. The actual Ming Clan's Master, Ming Xiao, has four sons and this little thing is probably the daughter of one of them.
*Before, aside from the two women, they didn't know that the fox was a girl, so I used 'it', but when the old man was examining her body he found out that she was a female (now she fox).
The old man thinks that today he really had too many surprises that he didn't know what to do anymore.
He stood there unmoving for who knows how much time and then when he came to himself, he burst out of laughter.
"Hahahaha, it really isn't of me to fear these kinds of things. I always did what I wanted and now is the same, nobody can stop me. I like this little thing, so I'll take it as my disciple, who cares what her background is. If they want to come to me, I'll just fight back. From now on you're my disciple, little thing." He said as he left with the little white fox cub in his hands.
The bright sun shone inside the room of a cottage landing on a sleeping fox cub.
The tickling sensation of the warm sun caused the little fox to slowly wake up from its slumber.
Ming Yue slowly opened her eyes and found herself in an unknown place, so she tried to think about what happened.
She remembers that she was sleeping peacefully on her bed in her room, waking up from the pain she saw a woman but when she was about to see her face clearly she suddenly felt sleepy and went to sleep again feeling a warm embrace and strange words appeared in her head.
It was a woman's voice, even if she was asleep, she could still remember perfectly her words. Maybe she did something so that she won't forget them.
She didn't think too much about her words, who would know if she was saying the truth or not, she was an orphan so when did she have a father? And what mystical beasts' Empress? She is a human, not a beast.
She thought so calmly but what she didn't know was that after her sleep her entire life changed and what awaited her was unraveling the mysteries of this world and facing her destiny.
The development of events will be beyond her grasp and only becoming stronger could she control her fate.

NOTES:
☞ Spirit beasts and mystical beasts are different and Ming Yue's mother was the mystical beast's only Empress.
☞ Shang Continent and Upper World are two completely different things even if they have the same first letter (上).
☞ You'll slowly understand the world Ming Yue is in as the story continues, and I'll make a map for you when all the mysteries are unraveled~
☞ Ming Yue is the daughter of Ming Yu (明煜, father）and Ye Lan (夜兰, mother）as always, you'll understand her background more detailed slowly during the story.
