Chapter 3: Ch 3 : OLD MAN

"Oh? You're awake?" A voice suddenly came from the entrance of the room.

Ming Yue abruptly turned her head towards the origin of the voice saw an old man that just appeared in the room soundlessly.

When did he come in? How did he do it without me noticing?

Ming Yue was extremely shocked because even if she was lazy, her senses never failed, nobody could come near her without her noticing, but this old man just did it.

Seeing her reaction changing from surprise to alert, he raised an eyebrow curiously.

Even if mystical beasts had a consciousness and could speak right after they were born, they should at least have the mentality of a ten-year-old child and not like this little thing before him. Through her eyes, she seemed to have undergone many dangers to have grown so vigilant.

The old man thought while scrutinizing her up and down, the more he looked at her the more he liked her.

As the old man was eying her, she was also observing him.

A little old man with long white hair tied up in a knot, white mustache, and beard that almost touched the ground. A grin was spreading on his face seemingly satisfied while his right hand lightly stroked his long beard.

When Ming Yue was looking at him, she noticed that not only was she in an unknown environment, the old man was also wearing strange clothes that are like the robes worn in ancient times.

Now that she looked clearly, the strange room she was in looked also like the ones she often saw in historical dramas and films.

Just what happened? Where is she?

Seeing her confused expression, the old man started explaining: "I found you in a mountain, you were sleeping and surrounded by spirit beasts, so I saved you. It seemed that you were teleported here and from your size, I think that you were just born."

Spirit beasts? Teleported? And what does he mean by just born?!

Ming You only then noticed that something was off. All around her seemed bigger and she felt small. She tried to examine her body but was stunned senseless by what she saw.

It was a little fox's paw with snow-white fur and then she saw her body, covered by the same white fur and other three paws.

Seeing her reaction, the old man was a little confused but then he continued introducing himself: "My name is Wang Lei and from now onwards I'll be your Master. "

Hearing the old man's voice, Ming Yue finally woke up from her daze and directed her gaze again towards him and replied bluntly: "No, thanks. I refuse."

The voice that came out was that of a little baby and stunned all of them.

Ming Yue couldn't believe that was really her voice and the old man was astonished by her reply.

"What?! Ah!" The old man jumped from shock and when he was trying to clench his fists, he accidentally pulled away some of his beards and he shouted in pain.

Seeing the clumsy behavior of the old man, Ming Yue slightly grinned as she forgot all about her fox body.

After recovering from the pain and sadness for his dear beard, the old man remarked: "Why did you refuse? I'm one the strongest human even in the Upper Realm with me as your master in the future you might even be stronger than me, standing at the pinnacle, becoming the strongest!"

If Ming Yue said that his words didn't move her then she would be lying, but only words weren't enough to let her accept.

"Then show me your strength."

Hearing her reply the old man finally smiled: "Alright. But with your current cultivation, you wouldn't be able to withstand even a tenth of my powers, so try to feel this for now."

As he said that he let a little of his spirit energy leak out from his body.

What Ming Yue felt was an irresistible pressure coming towards her making her unable to breathe.

Seeing that the little fox couldn't breathe anymore, he stopped before Ming Yue died but even if it was for a slight instant Ming Yue understood the difference between their strength.

This old man could kill me anytime.

"So? Are you satisfied?"

"Yes. Ming Yue pays her respect to Master." Usually, in a situation like this, the disciple should give the master a cup of tea, but they didn't do it since Ming Yue wasn't able to do it.

"Alright, firstly I'll explain how to cultivate so you can quickly transform in the shape of a human."

"I can return to be a human?!" Ming Yue exclaimed excitedly.

The old man immediately discovered that something was off in her words: "Return to be a human?"

Ming Yue didn't plan on hiding anything to her master since if he wanted to kill her, he could have done it long ago and not wasting time with her until now: "Yes. The truth is that I also don't know why I'm like this, but I know for certain that I was a human before waking up and I also suspect that I'm in another world." Well then if he wanted to believe it or not it was up to him.

"Mmm. What an unbelievable thing, but it's not impossible you were reborn here. It's said that the cycle of life is a continuing cycle controlled by the King of Hell. After one die if he committed sins during his lifetime then his soul will have to go through retribution and then start a new life, and if he didn't commit any sin that he will directly be reincarnated. So, one person would have infinite forgotten past lives and maybe it just so happened that you still remember your previous life." He explained.

"But I didn't die." Ming Yue was surprised by this explanation.

"Maybe you died while sleeping." He said.

"Ugh." Now that she thought about it, she really was sleeping before she came here. Did she really die in her sleep?

To think that I, Ming Yue, 21st century's strongest woman in the world with a beauty that could even compare with the Gods, just died like this. What a waste, I didn't even have a boyfriend. Wait! What will happen to my beautiful face?! If in this lifetime I'm ugly?! Noooooo, what should I do!

While Ming Yue was struggling on useless things in her mind, the old man started speaking again: "So now I'll transfer you the basics of cultivation techniques, it's up to you to find a cultivation technique that's most suited for you, but even if you couldn't find it I would still give you the best cultivation techniques."

"Yes, thanks, Master." Ming Yue felt that acknowledging this Master of hers wasn't that bad after all.

"Let's get started." As he said so he lifted his left hand towards Ming Yue while his right hand was still brushing his beard.

A gentle wave of spiritual power slowly flowed inside of her body. It was as if a flow of warm water was flowing in her veins going through her meridians.

When that power reached her brain, strange signs suddenly formed, shining brightly in the darkness of her mental abyss*.

*Mental abyss: a space in the brain where also resides one's soul and mental powers, it's the most important place a cultivator should protect.

Ming Yue watched these signs quietly and as if the world suddenly become clearer, something in her head changed and a cultivation technique appeared.

Ming Yue followed the instructions that just appeared in her head and started to absorb the spiritual energy* around her.

*Spiritual energy is different from spiritual power. While spiritual energy is the raw energy in the air containing impurities, spiritual power is the absorbed spiritual energy that underwent a refining process to eliminate the impurities and successfully becoming part of one's cultivation.

When Ming Yue started feeling the spiritual energy around her, she noticed that they were small balls of light of different colors.

They were mostly blue, green, yellow, orange and red light balls. Their color seemed a bit dim, maybe because of the impurities they contained.

In the instructions, she saw that their color represented the five different elements that are water, wood, metal, earth, and fire. As the colors suggest blue is water, green is wood, yellow is metal, orange is earth and red is the fire element.

Each person usually has an affinity to only one element but there are occasionally people who have an affinity to more elements. When someone has an affinity to all five elements then he will be deemed to be a trash because if you have to cultivate many elements at the same time then you will take more time to have a breakthrough causing you to fall behind with your cultivation among people of your age, maybe also younger.

Ming Yue tried to absorb the spiritual energy around her, but she didn't know what element she had an affinity with, so she just picked up a random light ball and just absorbed it to start the refining process that would take a while.

The light ball really entered her body and that could only mean that she had an affinity with it, it was a green light ball meaning that she had an affinity with the wood element.

When that small light of green entered into her body, she started refining it only to find out that the light ball didn't have any impurity.

Ming Yue didn't give it a second thought and continued absorbing lights balls since she knew she had an affinity with the wood element this time she only absorbed green light balls and just as before she still didn't need to refine it.

But then she wanted to also try absorbing other elements so she started with the red light ball, then the yellow one, orange and finally with the blue light ball, and the result was that all the light balls were absorbed successfully and as the green light balls they also didn't need to be refined.

Having affinity with all five elements meant that she would be trash among trashes, but Ming Yue didn't give up on cultivating just because of this instead, she thought that having all elements was also more useful.

To better absorb spiritual energy, you have to sit in a lotus position but since she is in that form, she's unable to do it so the speed used to absorb the spiritual energy was relatively slow.

But her master was still surprised by her. It was common sense that at everyone's first try they would always fail and even the most talented person he has ever heard of...

...that person also needed a day's time but this little thing before his eyes made it just in a few minutes, but if you think of her genes then that should also be normal.

Her future must be the birth of a new sovereign!
