Chapter 1: ~~~零~~~

~~~种子被带走了~~~
Screams pierced through the late winter air as a hooded figure ran through the smoke and flames, holding a basket of cloth close to their form.
Blood and bodies littered the once peaceful streets as bulky beings in armor made of dark steel continued to cut down and tear apart any living being in sight.
Men, woman, elderly, children... all of them were fair game to the soldiers who let put war cries and cheers of amusement in response to the screams of fear.
With the only light to guide them being the flames of destruction, the hooded figure carefully navigated their way around the slaughter and to the edge of the town.
They almost let out a sigh of relief, about to peel back the first layer of cloth in the basket until the thundering sound of hooves meeting the ground reached their ears.
The figure immediately turned over their shoulder to see a soldier armed with a bloodied spear before they darted off in the direction of the woods.
The figure's heart began to pound in their ears as they heard more of the armored beings begin to follow them deeper into the woods they had explored since they were young.
With a huff, they pulled out a yellow slip of paper with various writings of red ink and muttered a spell under their breath before tossing the paper over their shoulder, the slip glowing a soft purple hue as it floated midair before exploding when some of the warriors got too close.
Unfortunately, it barely helped in the amount of pursuers as more quickly came up to take the place of their fallen comrades.
The figure had to weave through trees and dodge the arrows of their attackers before they let out a yelp as they rolled down the steep hillside that was hidden in the dark of the night.
As soon as they stopped rolling, the figure looked down at the basket, but had no time to relax as they heard shouts from above.
Ignoring the throbbing pain from all over their body, the figure rose to their feet and took off running through the field of tall grasses to where they heard running water.
Upon breaking past the edge of the field, the figure found themself at the edge of a slow flowing river where they collapsed to their knees.
Slowly peeling back the first layer of cloth on the basket, the figure took the small amount of time they had to catch their breath as they looked upon a surprisingly quiet infant with glowing gold eyes.
"My precious girl, Mother is so sorry," the figure whispered as they placed their hand over the child's eyes with a soft purple glow, "I won't be there with you as you grow up."
"I can't be your mother anymore," they continued, pulling their hand back to reveal a band of metal over the baby's eyes, "so this is the only thing I can do for you now."
As the sounds of hooves and people got closer, the hooded figure placed the cloth back in place before floating the basket in the river.
'I'm so sorry,' they thought, taking one last look at the basket before running upstream along the shore, 'I'll always love you.'
