Chapter 27: You satisfied me
Wang Yi-An was ready to begin work; she was in fact excited. She returned to the desk, for the first time she took the new card she had received from Yang Yi-An, and inserted the card into the computer card slot.
Yang Corps invented these super intelligent computers called, "Ultra-Plus." With the advanced technology; employees can turn on the computers when they insert their cards in the reader, to turned off employees must eject the card. The machines record the users' details of the activities, ones that takes place on the specific machine throughout the servers. If someone with a high authority want to view the logs they can check by logging in to the server computer.
To make sure no hackers can get into the system, the server network are monitor 24/7. Yang Corps hired special trained units of security to monitor all the activities that happens on their machines. Employees cannot bring their work home unless they gave given special permission to sign out an Ultra-Plus machine. Yang Corps offered these Ultra-Plus-laptops for their employees; used the same way as the desktop computers in the office, everything is accessible through the network.
Yang Corps developed a similar technology to be sold to other companies; a lot similar to the Ultra-Plus but the codes were tailored to each companies. However, the price was so high only the government could afford it. Mayor Cheung was first to purchased the system. With his relationship with the Yang family, he decided to purchased the security systems for City Hall in City Y, and to his surprise, it was a wonderful system. Mayor Tong was the second to purchase the system, it happened many years ago when he came to visited City Y after he had won his election. He visited the City Hall and saw how great the system worked and wanted one for City A. It was such a great system that even until this day Ultra-Plus remained bulletproof, word spread out, and Yang Corps become the number one security system in the Country.
Wang Yi-An had been working on sketches non-stop for three hours. She loses track of time when she’s focused on working. The time was 12:45 PM and Yang Tian-Xu saw the time. He looked over at Wang Yi-An now and then so he knows she hasn't gone for her lunch break yet.
Yang Tian-Xu ratified a document he looked over and put it back into the folder. He placed it on his finished pile and stood up from his seat and went outside his office. Like a stalker, he stood there to look at her for a while, before he builds up his courage to asked her. "An-An. Did you have lunch yet?"
Absorbed in her work, Wang Yi-An forgot about time, she took a quick look at the time displayed on her screen, and articulated, "Oh..." She smiled and laughed, "I completely forgot about eating."
Yang Tian-Xu took out his courage to ask her, “Would you like to get away for lunch together?”
“No thank you. I have already packed my lunch.” She replied, she reached into her bag and pulled out her lunch box, then she asked. “Can I eat here?”
In the past, Yang Tian-Xu would have said no. He hates it when people eat their food right where they work! He would frequently lose his appetite. However, he didn’t know why, but he jokingly urged her, “Only if you would share some with me I will grant it.”
She ponders about it for a little while. She thinks, did she need to eat all of it or could she share some? Wang Yi-An didn't feel hunger when she was focused on work. So sharing half of her food would be better than wasting it. Food lose favours when reheated for too many times, and so she decided sharing would be the best choice.
“Hmm…” after she buzzed, she instantly replied, “Okay!” Then she smiled at him briefly, approvingly. “But, can you heat it up? I’m too lazy to go.” She stated as she opened her lunch box and gave it to him.
Yang Tian-Xu froze for a second and thought, “For real?” Is he about to share a homemade lunch with her? This is a dream, isn't it?
Anyway, he took the lunch box and went into the break room to re-heat it. The Wang Yi-An made the lunch she packed last night. Stewed chicken meat with rice. It gone cold, however, after he re-heated it. The food looks delicious and smells even better. He arrived back with the lunch box in his hands, “Here,” he places it on her desk.
“Thank you!” She said to him, then she took her lead and split the meal in half, she places her half on the lid, and handed Yang Tian-Xu the rest. “Let’s dig in!” She brings a spoonful to her mouth and chomps down.
For a minute he stood there thinking, “This is seriously happening.” He smiled and pulled a nearby chair over and sat down across from her. The table was in between them, but he could still see her face as he eats. He couldn’t help but smiled.
“The food looks delicious. Did you make it?” He asked, about to have his first bite, as he smelled the food. While she concentrated on her work and responded with “uh-huh.”
Yang Tian-Xu was a fussy eater, considered he was born rich. He took a bite of her homemade food and fall in love with her all over again, and said, “Wow. It’s delicious!”
Wang Yi-An didn’t answer him, and she immersed herself in her work. Yang Tian-Xu didn’t mind she ignored him. Somehow he felt contented this way, as he sat there across from her, watching her, and enjoying her home cook meal!
