Chapter 42: Chapter 40
"I should really stop hanging out with Chad." Jules grumpily complained as he got out of the taxi. He got drunk and was not able to drive himself back home. Fortunately Martin offered to have one of his men drive his car to his house tomorrow.
When Keith left his own house, Chad suggested they open a bottle or two from Keith's liquor room. It was just meant to be a bottle at a minimum but they ended up finishing four bottles. That bastard friend of him managed to convince him and Martin to drink another bottle and wait for Keith to come home because Chad said their friend would definitely bring back his Omega. His curiousity got the best of him and he ended up agreeing to Chad's ideas.
One of their maids open the door for him. He notice that the house is a bit quiet which means they already stopped with all the preparations regarding his brother's engagement.
He would have preferred to sleep in his own house tonight but his mom will definitely make a fuss if he is not at this house tomorrow.
Jules started walking up the stairs towards his room. He rub the back of his neck as he cursed Chad again in his mind.
"I could not believe you have the audacity to get drunk when you know there's so many things to do at home. When will you start to become mature enough to know your responsibilities!" An angry voice welcomed Jules just as he reached the middle of the grand staircase.
"Good evening to you too mother." Jules politely greeted his mother, completely ignoring his mother's sermons.
"Are you ignoring me? You know how important this dinner is for the family. Your brother is marrying into an elite family and we should ensure that they will not say anything negative against our family." His mother continue to lecture him as she climb up the stairs and followed Jules. "If you could not be as responsible as your brother at least find a way to be useful."
"Yes mother." Jules replied, he is so used to his mother comparing him to his brother that it does not affect him anymore. Besides, he and his brother Jamie have a good relationship. It's just their mom who is not contented with everything.
"You don't know how stressful it was for me today." His mother said as she started crying. "Your grandfather came and brought with thim the filthy Omega ward of his." She said in between her sobs.
"Mom you know Gramps will not be happy if he heard you call that Omega like that." Jules replied, massaging his temple. It seems his grandfather brought with him another source of headache for his mother.
"I'm trying my best to patronize your grandfather but I could not deal with that Omega who came from God knows where." She further complained.
"It's gonna be fine mother." Jules responded and guide his mother to her bedroom.
"How can it be fine? You know that Omega slut is always hovering and clinging to your brother. That Omega came here to seduce your brother and stop the wedding" She replied frantically and refuses to go inside her room. "I need to do something, we need to keep that slut away from your brother." She muttered fo herself.
"Mother, Jamie will not do that. He is your perfect son so he should be fine." Jules tried to usher his mom inside her room again. His head is bothering him and he really just want to wash up and hit the sack.
"Are you mocking me Julian Bernardt?" His mother angrily asked.
"Of course not mother. You should take a rest now, you have been busy the whole day and you'll be busy again tomorrow. You work really hard, you should rest now" Jules replied trying to pacify his mother.
"Tsk! If you know I work hard, then you should follow your brother's footsteps. Find yourself a decent Alpha woman with a good family background or allow me to find one for you." She nag again and finally entered her bedroom.
Jules heave a sigh when his mother is finally out of his view. His mother has always been chasing for things and reason that would curry favor with his grandfather and lord over his uncles. His father or more like his mother and his two uncles' family are all working hard to get the control of the family business. His mother wanted his father to fight for the inheritance like his brothers. However, his father is contented to just manage the university his grandfather has built and named after his grandmother. With him following in his father's footsteps and venturing into academics as well did not sit well with his mom and it has been a constant reason for his mother's nagging.
Even though his grandfather mostly stay at his ranch in his hometown, the old patriarch still holds the full control over his companies. His three sons are helping him manage it and the wives are doing everything they can to make sure their husbands are always in the old man's good graces. They also make sure to one up each other on various little things and most of the time using their children as pawns. His mother has always been shoving it to her in laws faces that her sons are both dominant Alphas unlike their cousins who are just your typical average Alphas. His brother marrying the only daughter of the Kims who are known as the hospital scions in the country is making his mother too excited because it means she has something to brag about. On his brother's part, he knew that he really love his future sister in law without any consideration of her background.
Despite their constant fight for the inheritance and trying to make the old man happy, there is one thing that his uncles and his mom could not accept, that is the Omega his grandfather has accepted as family and has been treating way better than his own sons. They all see the Omega as another competitor for his granfather's fortune. Said Omega is also currently in front of his brother's door, arms around Jamie's waist while his brother pat the Omega's head.
"No wonder mom is going crazy. Maybe you should cling to Jamie when no one is around." Jules said sarcastically with a smirked, interrupting the two who finally noticed his presence.
"Good evening Jules." Jamie greeted Jules, unaffected by his brother's words. "Timmy has been here since the afternoon, you should take him around and enjoy the city." Jamie said, giving the Omega in his arms a gentle smile and another pat in the head.
"I'm sure Timmy would prefer to spend his time with you instead." Jules replied sarcastically.
"As if anyone would want to spend time with someone like you. You're just gonna ruin anyone's mood." Timmy replied to Jules giving him a mocking smile.
"Yeah.. Yeah! I'm boring blah blah blah. Goodnight brother, I suggest you take your flirting inside the bedroom." Jules said turning his back against the two and head towards his room.
"Idiot!" Timmy whispered making Jamie laugh.
His brother is indeed an idiot, if not, he would have seen the way Timmy is looking at him.
