Chapter 3: Chapter 2

This was my big day!

I had to get the job because Anais wanted it; she wanted to start here as a journalist in whatever she called it. I will know more after I get the job. I looked around me as my hand clutched my bag closer to my chest.

My heart beat fast and the tickling of the clock made the waiting worse. Everyone had a worried look. My eyes watched as one by one, everyone got inside and left with a disappointed expression; this made my anxiety skyrocket.

I tried to calm my heart by pulling a book I bought lately for I had two missions now. I wasn't a bad person so I had to keep Anais' life intact, going the route she planned and I had to learn about love.

Because it was important because I had to learn the ways of humans to get what I want… It wasn't easy dealing with a myriad of feelings, sometimes, you just feel out of place in the middle of nowhere.

"Next!" A voice pulled me out of my reverie. It seemed ready to explode into millions of shards. I immediately walked inside the office where I would be interviewed and sat down in front of a fair lady with grey eyes and brown hair.

She had all what Anais wanted; the aura around her wasn't to joke about. "Didn't you hear me or are you having second thoughts? I yelled for several minutes already."

First rule, never apologize and instead show professionalism. At least, that's what I think. "Of course not… I am sorry," my first rule was broken the first moment she glared at me. Did I rub the wrong side? Oh my God! I will lose the job. I took a deep breath and smiled with confidence.

"I am Anais of the Cross. I am interviewing for the post of copy editing. Here is my CV!"

"If apologies were a thing then I would consider being a priest. I would like also a glass of wine and snacks but I am sorry, I can't do that here," she rolled her eyes. "I am Julie Charpentier, the chief editor of 'The love Prism'. I will be the one interviewing you today.

Let's start with the basics since you must have prepared for the questions already! Why should we hire you and not someone else?"

Okay, this is a tricky question. "I possess a combination of skills and experience that make me stand out from the others. I can fit in beautifully and be a great addition to the team.

I worked hard during the internships I experienced and also communication abilities and teamwork skills, which I will put into use in my future job, and it could be yours if I get the job. I helped in many activities back in high school and I successfully resolved the case of theft that hindered our studies in the past."

"Oh my God! I am so impressed by your mind," she opened her mouth a widened her eyes showing a fake surprise. I don't know what I did but I certainly got on her bad side. She grimaced.

"I would like to know more about you but this is enough for today. To be honest, everyone I interviewed today dreamt of living in Paris and having a good life as it is the city of love with its sceneries and perfect atmosphere for a love affair.

Some of them were good and you are shifted to the second part, you don't have the air surrounding a successful employee, that I-don't-know-something which makes you professional, ma chérie. Tell me, why do you want to live in Paris?"

This is so much for my first interview ever. She is clearly making fun of me. Is this why everyone left so suddenly as they walked on shit? She was too much.

"This is a good question my lady and I don't feel like answering it. You may be an editor or a chief somewhat editor but you lack professionalism. You dare to criticize others while you don't look at your shitty face in the mirror.

I am sorry but because of you, I don't want to work here. I prefer sweeping the floors than having to see your face," I picked my CV from her hands and treaded outside, seriously pissed off.

Did she expect me to just listen to her and leave quietly? I hate that attitude of hers. I bet she thinks she is over everyone. Maybe Andre would have done something about her. No, he said clearly to not bother him.

Anyway, it wasn't like there weren't any other jobs. That Alexandre Owl-thingy has successfully chased all the candidates. Once they planted their feet, they thought they reached the heavens. I bet he is as horrible as her.

"Ow!" My head was all in the air as I thought about that woman that I didn't notice the presence of another wall on this path. I mean I certainly walked the same way back to the start.

Where does this wall come from? My hand immediately moved to my forehead, appeasing the pain. This was an exaggeration but it was certainly a wall, not some handsome looking man who stared at me like I was an alien.

"I knew you were around. I felt you from miles. How did your interview go?"

"Don't remind me of it, Andre! Wait a minute… Aren't you supposed to be kilometres away from my location? I remember someone stating tha-"

He pulled me to the stairs, which no one used to go down. Because literally, no one takes the stairs when there are elevators in the building. The wall moved to let me take back the breath he took away again by slapping his hand to the wall behind me.

"I certainly don't want to be seen with you so this will be the perfect place to have a talk and no, I didn't follow you, you just happen to be in my way to refuse a special interview."

I found myself staring again at the pair of golden eyes, which stared back with a cocky grin. Something in him made me feel attracted like a magnet.

"I wanted to act like I didn't know you, I swear mon amour. I certainly treated you like a wall even in my mind. Such a shame the wall had to move and slapped the wall behind me making it impossible to move freely in a desolated place."

He pulled his hand back and let me have some space to myself. His eyes fixed me with a mixture of amusement and concern.

"No, I'm not. What a pity! Either way, you failed in acting like you don't know me. The usual reaction I get is fluffy cheeks and hot face with panic rising high inside," he tapped his chest.

"You do realize that you have such a great privilege for knowing me."

"And you have such a stroke of great luck for meeting me because I don't get to ask for a lot after the divorce, mister wall. Well, you are really hard," I checked my forehead again unaware of the sentence I just blurt.

The flush travelled from my cheeks to the rest of my body as I realized what I just said. "I mean, you are like a wall, so hard. Certainly, I didn't mean anything else. I mean your chest might be hard if it wanted to but it certainly is and…"

Okay, kill me why I am still available.
