Chapter 16: Premonition to a disaster
As soon as Celes reached the stage, she immediately non-hesitatingly sliced off the Marquis' wrist and took Amy with her, at the same time Stealth activated on her too.
"Wha-!? She's already here!? Apprehend them, my shadows!" The Marquis said out loud before focusing magic power in his cut off arms.
(He truly was the hero of the war. He didn't even wavered after he got his arms sliced off.) Celes ran back to the entrance that she came from, only to be stopped by a sword swung towards her right arm.
Celes couldn't stop on time because of her momentum, and barely dodged it on time, leaving her with a graze.
"Hmph, you're better than I had thought." Is what another woman in black said. "However, I wonder if you could go against this many armed military men?"
(They're not that much of an issue, I could wipe them out with a single air cutter. The real problem here is you.)

Olivia swung one of her swords towards Celes' abdomen, but was splendidly parried by Celes using her dagger; however, it doesn't end with just one. Following the momentum of her parried sword she spun in the air and swung her other sword which accelerated way faster than her first attack.
Celes couldn't dodge it on time. She raised a barrier thrice the usual thickness at one point with 3 layers, however.

Olivia managed to pass through the first and second layers, but only cracked the third one.
"Tch, not strong enough. Just what on earth are Celestial Vampires? I shouldn't be asking that, weren't you supposed to be extinct due to the albino demon's betrayal?" Olivia asked in annoyance.
"Don't say that, you should be proud that you were able to do that much damage to my barrier, it's also a good way for me to understand how strong my barrier truly is. About that albino demons, I'll have you explain more to me." Celes threw aside Amy for the time being and kicked the floor and rushed straight to Olivia at full speed.
"Kahah!" Olivia cried in pain as her abdomen got sliced open.
"You're seriously too troublesome, just join us already…" Olivia said grasping at her injury.
Celes noticed the flow of mana and quickly overwhelmed Olivia with more barrage of attacks from all side, "I won't let you heal."
Olivia raised a barrier only to be destroyed by Celes, but that is enough time for her to regenerate all her injuries in an instant.
"Enough playing this time. Men, we have to buy more time! Anti magic and anti mobile formation! Enclose!" Olivia ordered, in which the men who was watching us just now quickly responded and built a one meter tall shield wall around the two, still unfinished they raised multiple spears on each gap, from all 2d directions.
(If you didn't get what I meant by 2d, I mean just on the land, not in the air.)
"Magic barrier, raised! We're good to go miss!" Said one of the men who seemed to be the leader.
"This time I'll go all out. Shadow Coating! Pierce through, Shadow Rule!" Olivia casted 2 of her skills before sinking into her own shadow.
Celes wanted to stop her but was unable to because of the black tentacles from Olivia's Shadow Rule.
"This is where the fun begins" She claimed before her entire body sunk into her own shadow.
"Magic squad b! Cast the lights! Engulf the whole enclosed area with shadows!" The leader of the men said a few seconds before multiple balls of light lit up outside the ring of shields.
(For now let's put on a barrier on Amy. 5 layers same thickness as last time.) She thought before doing so.

Perhaps she used more mana than she thought because of the width of the barrier.
"How kind of you to wait for our preparations to finish. I'll make you regret prioritizing that lil lady over there." Olivia said poking her head down to her nose.
"Shall we get started? Don't worry, I won't kill you. We went this far to get you to work us after all. As a mindless puppet or as a slave. Either works!" Olivia sunk once again before countless black arrows flew towards Celes.
She parried those that she could and let those she couldn't hit her barrier.

(I'll just wait until her mana supply runs out.) Is what both of them thought.
"Hey, did you know? Magic coating of your most compatible element decreases that element's mana consumption by 50% And then there's Shadow step that does the same to shadow magic by 40%! Which means I'm only using 10% of the original mana consumption of these arrows! What's more, it's mana consumption is barely noticeable! I can keep this barrage of attacks for one whole hour! By that time Lord Galroe is done with his preparations to capture you! But of course, I'll enjoy this suffering of yours thoroughly, though the mana consumption will be quintuple the arrow's I'll send lances this time! I will run out of mana soon with this, but you will first!" Olivia said before large rods of pitch black lances flew towards Celes.
(Increase barrier power.)
