Chapter 3: Chapter 8: Kindness Doesn't Come For Free
"No need to be anxious. There are demons out there that are truly malicious but I'm not like any of those demons! I truly can give you the wish that you always wanted. What do you say? Are you interested? Do you care to actually try to make a change in your life or do you just want to end up rotting here in this hospital bed with no one to actually love you?" He smirked at me, using his words to attack me right at the heartstrings, it's as if he knew that I was desperate but still.
"Like I'd make a deal with a devil! I know you assholes are just bluffing! This is all just for your personal gain and nothing else! No need to play dumb with me!" I told him, not going to fall for his games.
"You don't really need to accept my offer but at least hear me out, won't you? It's not like I'll cause you anything because from what I know, you don't exactly have anything else to do nor have anything else to offer in your life RIGHT?" He puts stress on the right part, obviously trying to spite me.
"You are right. I don't really have anything to offer but what makes you think I'll listen to balding gremlin-like you?" I sassed him right away, deflecting his insult at me.
"Actually, forget I said anything. You don't exactly have a choice in the matter. The fact is, you're the one that's stuck to her bed all day long and you can't exactly leave so I'll just explain it to you either way." He smirked, grabbing my hand and giving it a little kiss.
"GROSS!" I slapped him but he dodged so quickly, I wiped my hand on the hospital blanket and proceed to hide my blushing face from him. UGH! This guy is a piece of work! Just giving me a hand kiss for some reason! Ugh, playboy!
"Alright! So I'll get right to explaining how I can solve your issues!" He then proceeded to snap his fingers and a laptop and table suddenly appeared right in front of me. "I am here to orient you in everything you need to know! So you don't get lost and of course!" He flicks his fingers once again to change his outfit from a devilish black tux to a teacher's outfit with glasses.
My heart started to beat fast as the outfit shot me directly in the heartstrings. "You.. you're pretty ho- NO!" I stopped myself from saying what I was going to say! DAMN IT! I CAN'T ADMIT THAT I LIKE THAT DEVIL! HE'S AN ASSHOLE!"
"Anyways! Feast your eyes on this human technology!" He winked at me thinking like he's a big shot after a PowerPoint presentation appeared on the laptop. Uh? Slide show much? Does this devil think it's an accomplishment to make a PowerPoint presentation that even a Grade 3 student can make?
"UM! I'm a demon! Not a devil! I thought I told you already about it!" He scolded me for miswording EXACTLY THE SAME THING, WELL in my eyes they are the same thing but for him, I guess it's different.
"Also can you stop talking so much shit in your mind? It's literally so hard to make a PowerPoint presentation in the spirit realm, try living in a place without WIFI that gives you information easily!" He retaliated at me in a cheeky manner, making me roll my eyes.
"JUST hurry up and present already. I've been waiting here for a long. The least you could do is shut your mouth and hurry it up." I narrowed my eyes at him, making direct eye contact. He notices this and gives me a warm smile which in turn, I gave him an eye roll.
He continued to tinker with the laptop for a few minutes before finally just giving up and snapping his fingers to make it disappear. IMPATIENT MUCH? Also, he's seriously a klutz for being an all-powerful demon he sure needs to get some brain cells.
"Okay. So um. The powerpoint kind of glitched so I'll just tell it to you directly!" He smiled, snapping his fingers to revert back to his black tux. "Before I was summoned here! I already knew what you desired the most and it's to live a longer life and to get back at those people who wronged you, isn't that right?"
"Yes." I facepalmed. "I'm pretty sure I already told you that. Can you just get straight to the point of all of this?"
"You can do that now when I give you the power to take a person's soul. Once you take their soul, you will have everything they have, their looks, their talents, their family members, every memory they have will belong to you. What do you think about that? It ain't a bad offer right?" He gives me a cheerful smirk.
"Huh? What? So you mean I can take someone's soul? I can totally live their life? Like, be THEM forever?" I raised my eyebrow, inquiring him about the deal. "How do I do that? Do I just tell you who to take and I can have their soul quickly?"
"Yes. Though you'll have to kiss the person, directly in the lips to take their soul. If you do that, you'll get everything they own, their face, their body, their wealth, their family, and of course their life span! So you'll be able to live for how long you like!" He proposes to me. It seems pleasing to hear but I know there's a catch to this. Kindness doesn't come for free and not exactly from a demon.
"And what do you stand to gain from this exactly? I don't see a demon, like you being in make a wish foundation so spill what you're getting from this." I let my guard up.
"Oh my. You are pretty smart aren't you?" He snickered. "Though you are right. Of course, there's a catch. Nothing is free in the real world after all.
