Chapter 83: Royal Knights Exam
Since they only had a week to train, Madara put the Black Bulls through hell. He wasn't Urahara, but he could point out their strength, weakness, flaws, etc.
Madara trained Noelle in lance training and pushed her into unlocking her Valkyrie armor. He could tell she wasn't that far from unlocking. He also built their affection during the time, making her trust him more.
He also trained her in how to dodge and block because, in the original, she let her armor take all the attacks, and that was foolish.
He trained Asta on how to properly use a sword, not just flailing his arms around. He pointed out many flaws that he had. Asta quickly corrected them, making him a better swordsman.
He also trained Asta to have more control and time with his devil form. Finally, he gave clues about the time Asta used his magic to slash Mars.
It wasn't long before Asta figured that he could use his anti-magic the same way. Though it wasn't difficult to do, since he had little control over it, it drained him of his energy.
Madara trained Luck to have full-body lightning armor. Since he focused on speed, he trained him mostly on that.
He had Luck do some exercise to build the muscle in his legs, including the upper body. He didn't want him bulky, so he made him do little workouts. But the little workouts were effective.
Madara trained Magna on magic control so his fireballs would be more potent. He also trained him in speed. He gave him exercises that work the entire body.
He trained Vanessa to get her threads finer. He also started to train her to use her threads as a weapon, not just to bind things.
He wanted to make them sharp and teach her how to pierce people with it. Since it was nearly invisible, it would be useful.
He and Vanessa also did some bedtime sparring. She hasn't shown any signs of pregnancy yet, so he didn't know what to expect.
Madara trained Gordon with his poison magic by having him use his poison magic until he was tired. When he was, Madara would push him to go further until he collapsed. Madara also trained him with control.
Even though he was reluctant at first, Madara trained Gauche to make his light rays faster and deal more damage. He did this by provoking and making him surpass his limits.
Madara tried to train Finral and get him to use his magic like his brothers, but better. But he said he didn't want to hurt people.
All Madara heard was he didn't want to be stronger and stay weak until he sees someone he loves die.
Madara wasn't going to beg him to train. If he wanted to stay weak, that is his choice.
Madara couldn't do anything for Charmy other than getting her to do some physical exercise to stay in shape. If she didn't want to do it, he would say he wasn't going to give her the 'special sauce' and she would do it.
But other times, they were doing their thing in private. Madara also noticed that Charmy was progressively getting better with their extra curriculum activities.
For Grey, he could do anything but get her to do physical exercise and train her in magic control. He didn't know the properties of her other ability so he was left in the dark.
While waiting in the Colosseum, waiting for the 'King' and Wizard King to announce the rules, Madara was leaning against a wall.
Madara talked to the Golden Dawn, waiting for Julius and the 'King'. He kept it short because he wasn't the one to talk much.
After that, Julius came and announced the rules of the exam. He then announced the teams.
It was announced that Madaras' teammates were Sol and Fragil. Sol glared at him with a blush, remembering what happened in the hot springs. She still doesn't know how he got his way into the women's baths.
'Snow and Earth magic, huh?' Madara thought after seeing who was on his team.
The only teams were normal, other than David and Selena being replacements for Sol and Fragil.
After the teams were announced, everyone participating was teleported to the exam site. The matches were announced, Madara was going against some extras, but other than that, the matches were the same as canon.
'Noelle is still going against Solid, huh?' Madara looked over to Noelle to see she had a look of confidence.
"Teams A and B, please make your way down to the exam site." The announcer said, Madara, smiled walking down.
Madara heard the cheers behind him, everyone knew the outcome of the battle before it started. It was just unfair to put him up against anyone in the clover kingdom.
"Match start!" The announcer shouted loud enough for both parties to hear.
As he heard those words, before anyone on both teams could do anything, everyone heard the sound of a crystal shattering.
They all looked to where was just a millisecond ago, to see him on the opposite side of the field. Everyone's eyes widened seeing him close the distance in such a short time.
Just as they came to terms with what just happened, a strong gust of wind attacked them. The cause of it, speed that rivals light magic.
Madara bent his middle finger and tapped the crystal with it, making it shatter. Taking the win for him, and his team.
Madara made his way back to where everyone else was to not watch the boring fights. He couldn't be entertained with something as trivial as this.
Though a few people could make it interesting. The next match was no names bs no names. After that, the matches went as they did in canon.
As the matches went on, Noelle was finally facing off against her brother. Madara opened his eyes, to watch this fight, more so what Noelle would do.
He wanted to see what mindset she has right now. In canon, after they 'recognized' her strength, she becomes all buddy-buddy with them. Like didn't they abuse you your whole life?
He watched intently as she conjured her water dragon, but this time, Madara could feel some killing intent coming from her. A grin appeared on his face, seeing she wouldn't hesitate to attack them or maybe even kill them.
He was satisfied with the results but Solid was still breathing. He didn't like that too much.
As the match ended with Noelle's team winning the match, she looked up to the stage to see Madara with a satisfied look. She smiled inwardly, knowing she did right.
Now that the fight was over, it was now time for Madara and his team to fight again. With the terrain different from the last, it wouldn't change the inevitable outcome of the opposing team.
"Next team, please make your way to the area!" The announcer said as both Madaras' and Asta's team walked down.
Madara could tell that Xerx was wary of him. Close to no one saw him move last round. Asta, on the other hand, had a smile on his face, ready for the upcoming battle.
"This surely will be interesting." The wizard king said, eating the sweets Charmy gave him.
"Haha, this will be good!" Luck said with a grin on his face.
"Don't we all know the outcome? Did you not see the speed he displayed last round? Matter of fact, I don't think anyone saw him move. This will be over in an instant." Someone said to one of his team members.
"Yeah, I think just with him, we'll be able to beat the eye." His team member responded.
"As if." The team laughed as they thought about the possibility. Everyone ignored them because the match was about to begin... but the thought of him destroying the eye lingered in their minds. Either of them had yet to see his full power.
Standing on opposite sides of the area, Madara stood with his arms crossed, waiting for it to start. He knew everyone was watching him, cheering for the both of them, but knowing the result of the battle.
"Remember, choose agility over strength and be mindful of traps and those around you," Madara stated just before the mage announced the match.
'Did he just... give us advice?' The both of them thought surprised as they haven't expected such a thing from him.
"Match start!"
