Chapter 3: Goblin Camp

(A/N: So.. my internet may have crashed while I was editing... sorry about that..)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the ice needles she conjured failed her blood turned frigid in her veins.

The lead goblin -deciding it was the best opportunity to attack- raised his crude club and began his swung towards Lilith's head.

Jumping to the side, the club scraped the left side of Lilith causing a portion of her snowy white fur to turn crimson.

Feeling the brush of the goblins club clip her side sent another bout of nervousness from Lilith.

The other two goblins who were flanking the one who just hit her let out small excited gurgling noises causing Lilith's nervousness to fade as it was replaced with steely determination to not well.. die.

Deciding that now was the best time to use Illusion Magic -as goblins are dumb as hell- Lilith create fake ice spikes and 'threw' them at the goblins.

The previously goblins stopped as the frantically attempted to dodge the fake ice spikes, not noticing that Lilith was busy sending REAL ice spikes in their direction.

The ice spikes sailed through the air before impeding themselves in the throats -or close to- with a sick crunch. One of the goblins was instantly killed while the other two flailed on the ground as they let out horrid shrieks.

Lilith's body collapsed from overusing her miniscule amount magic energy during the fight as her previously colorful world turned gray. 'Energy Absorption,' she said mentally as the latent magic in the area swarmed and refilled her missing mana.

The monochrome world revolving around her returned to its original color, a heavy sigh of relief exited from the maw of the one-tailed kitsune. Swiveling her head to look at the three foes she was facing not even a minute ago, she saw the horror-stricken faces of the two who thrashed wildly in an attempt to claw for their life.

'Suddenly.. I'm not hungry anymore,' Lilith thought awkwardly while trying to ignore the fountains of blood exiting from the goblins torn throats.

She picked herself up from the ground as her body throbbed with a hidden pain. Even though her mana was refilled from using Energy Absorption, using all of one's magic AND then refilling it to full was a good way to increase one's magic.. but not particularly pain-free. Lilith was lucky to only have to refill her empty reserves once, the pain is a sort of.. build up. The more your refill your mana reserves in a short period the harsher the drawback.

Doing her best to ignore the knot forming in her stomach, Lilith focused on the beautiful landscape blossoming around her. Sky-high trees that were enormous compared to the small fox, with vibrant green leaves dangling from it's branches. The grass that tickled her feet softly as she walked, the wildflowers that decorated the occasional patch of grass as they came in a myriad of colors, ranging from blue to even black. The sun stood unobstructed in the sky as it released gentle, warming rays of sunlight onto her back.

Lilith 𝖑𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖉 the natural ambience of her surroundings. From the random tid-bits of information she still retained form Earth, it was never this.. beautiful? Stunning? Pollution of all kinds damaged the environment of most -if not all- natural places she remembers.

The small fox enjoyed the comforting presence of nature as she continued to explore her surroundings.

...

Before Lilith knew, hours turned to days and days turned to weeks. She spent two weeks exploring her surroundings whilst mentally marking any locations of interests.

Speaking of location of interest, Lilith discovered a small burrow big enough for her to drag small prey inside AND sleep so she no longer has to sleep under a large pile of leaves.

A very large improvement in the mind of Lilith. The only thing complaint that came to mind about her new home would be the 'neighbors'.

Unlike most people -or monster- once someone moves in next-door, even unknowingly, you send them a present or welcome them.

Personally, Lilith wished that her neighbors didn't welcome her. A 5-'man' cell that consisted of short, ugly, and green little monsters that did NOT like their territory being intruded upon sat outside the entrance of her burrow.

They're bag-like clothes stuck to their scrawny, unpleasantly morbid looking bodies. They're wrinkled leathery skin clinged to their bones like they haven't eaten in years, each carried a.. unique weapon. One held a very.. VERY crudely made sword that looked almost like a club if it wasn't for the sharp edge it held. One carried a spear, just as crudely made. Another an actual club, another held a slingshot, and the last was carrying a dagger.

Lilith let out a sharp breath as she mentally prepared for what was to come. Seeing as she was outnumbered, she created an illusion of three kobolds that came running from the trees in front of the goblins.

Seeing their rivals in territory, the goblins promptly forgot about the intruder and decided to take the 'kobolds' down a peg. As the goblins released a guttural growl from the depths of their underdeveloped vocal cords, Lilith snuck out of the burrow and flanked the goblins.

As the kobolds reared their false weapons in an attempt to 'parry' the goblins attacks spikes made purely of ice imbedded themselves through the chests of four of the goblins as they limply fell to the ground.

The last goblin -completely unaware- hadn't noticed the fall of his group as he swung his spear in an attempt to separate the kobold's head from it's furry shoulders.

Lilith let out a fox-ish grin at the stupidity of the goblins. If one took a closer look into the fight, it was completely obvious that the kobolds were illusions. The grass beneath their feet hadn't move an inch even when they were stepping on it, instead of growling like a normal kobold when attacked they hadn't made a noise. Even their physical image wasn't very great as Lilith was new to Illusions.

The young fox ran towards the unsuspectingly goblin as she leaped onto its head while her paws emitted a snowy blanket of frost. Once her paws made contact it's head was layered in a thin layer of ice.

'Checkmate,' Lilith stated mentally as the goblin's face turned blue and he fell headfirst into one of the previously conjured ice spikes.

Lilith's general discomfort of the goblin's blood previously has faded somewhat as she looked at the pool of it forming under the five corpses. One tends to get used to it after eliminating about 10 scout groups from a nearby goblin camp -that much to her chagrin she has yet to find.

Lilith continued to spend the next hour dragging the corpses away from her burrow as not to attract the attention of ACTUAL kobolds.

...

A few days passed as the previous continuous assaults' of the goblins have been quiet for the past few days. Lilith's nervousness only grew as a thunderstorm raged outside. She -however- has not spent the past few days purely sitting around.

Instead of waiting for more goblins to attack she began to pre-emptively LOOK for the actual settlement in an attempt to wipe them out. Once she was about to give up on it on the second day she actually found the settlement.

A ring based fence that was made out of malformed wood and was crudely lined with bones. Deer, squirrel, and kobold skulls decorated the outlines of the settlement in an attempt to drive away any intruders. A few goblin sentries stood at the only two entrances to the settlement.

Due to not wanting to be spotted prematurely, Lilith quickly retreated after her discovery and began to plan on how to sneak inside. That plan however had a LOT of requirements and restrictions. One, her fur was snow WHITE causing it to be hard to be stealthy in general. Two, she knew next to nothing about actual stealth. Three, while her magical reserves have at least improved from before, she'll still be out of magic by the time she kills 7 goblins unless she is resourceful. The third restriction can be easily nullified due to Energy Absorption but constantly refilling her reserves would lead to her body not being physically at its best.

So her plan was to use the goblins against themselves. She has been working on the realism of her Illusions while searching for the camp and even though they can't physically interact with anything they look hyper-realistic to the goblins -because they're dumb as hell. She would create small scale illusions over some of the goblins and turn them into some of the goblin's natural prey and predators to freak the fuck out of them and cause them to fight. Whilst they were fighting, Lilith would dispatch a few strong ones with her ice.

In Lilith's opinion, a simple yet effect plan.

And so, she exited her burrow with a clear mind as she traversed through the thunderstorm.

Even though it was night, it would not effect the effectiveness of the illusions due to the goblins having decent night-vision -one of the only good abilities the have. Plus, the storm would make the soil into mud causing the goblins movements to be hindered in close-combat.

As Lilith was nearing the camp she steeled her will and started to enact her plan.

It was time to kill some goblins.
