Chapter 2: My family

"Unnie, we are out of chocolate cupcakes!" I shouted, peeping inside.

"They're done. I'll get them soon." She said and I headed out and got their orders. Some of them, st down with their friends and had it with them, while some, took take-out.

It was a busy day.

"What would you like to have ma'am?" I asked.

"I want a birthday cake." She said.

"Sure. The name?"

"Cha Eun-Seok." She said and wrote the name with chocolate and packed it in a box.

"Eomma, I want that." A small, cute boy asked his mother, pulling the hem of her dress.

"We can buy that next time. But now, we need a cake for your brother's birthday." His mother said.

"So how much it the total?" She asked.

"Uh.. 7000 won."

She gave the amount and I gave the cake to her.

"Here, this is for you." I said and gave the candy, the boy asked for.

"It's ok noona. Eomma said she'll buy it for me next time." He said.

"It's ok. This is a gift from me to you and wish your brother a very happy birthday from my side." I said and ruffled his hair.

"Thank you noona." He said and smiled.

"Thank you." His mother said and they left.

I turned and saw my sister, looking at me and smiling.

I went and hugged her.

"Let's get back to work." She said and we continued our work.

*at 8:00 pm

There were less customers, and the stock was also getting over.

Soon everyone left and everything got over. I sat down, joining my sister with a cup of coffee.

"Well, today was quite a very long and rough day." She said.

"Well, all these days have been the same. Nothimg has changed." I said and took a sip of my coffee.

"So, what's tomorrow's plan, Hye?" I asked.

"Yahh, Y/n, show some respect. I'm still 2 years elder than you."

"Mian. But still it doesn't stop me from calling you by name." I said.

"You." She started chasing me. And I ran around, in between the tables.

She caught me and started hitting me.

"Ahhh! unnie, mian. I won't call you by your name. I won't." I said.

"Now go and sleep." She said.

"Ok Hye." I said and ran up. She followed me.

I sat on the bed and opened my arms to hug her. She smiled and hugged me back.

"Unnie, you sleep now. I'll go do the other works." I said.

"Y/n, you're still small to do all this." She said.

"Unnie, I am 28. I can do things on my own too. So, you better take rest or else I'll tell Sung-ho oppa about you, over working at night. Oppa always says to not make you work at night." I threatened her.

"Since when have you both been talking about me?" She asked, folding her arms.

"Aish! Unnie, you can't ask that and all. It's someting between us. Well, sleep tight. I'll go clean up the rest." I said and headed down.

I got to the kitchen and washed the dishes.

My sister, Shin-Hye and I opened a bakery named, Make it Sweet, 10 years back. We made the shop as our home too. We sold cakes at the bottom floor and had a rooftop with our house. Since we started, the business was going well and is still going well.

We both saved a lot of money for this and finally our dreams came true.

My sister has done everything for me. Our mother passed away as she was ill and our father, there was nothing good to say about him.

He would get drunk everyday and come home and hit my mother and hurt her badly. Me and my sister would roll up to the corner and I would hide myself in her. Maybe that's why god wanted to take my mother with him, to spare her from my father.

After that too, my father kept drinking. Drinking never stopped. He never gave importance to me nor my sister. My sister and I ran away from him and we both stayed alone. We were on the streets that day. I still remember it.

My sister took great care of me. She was like my mother. She fed me eventhough she had nothing to eat. She would teach me numbers and words and also baking cause she was fond of it. She used to work at small shops and earn money. And there was this kind and sweet lady who offered us food regularly at free of cost. We were really thankful to her.

There was nothing that she didn't do to me. Everytime I see her working hard, I just can't stand there and watch her. If I am here, it's all because of her. Being with her, I also grew interest in baking and we started this shop.

There is a lot more to say about my sister, cause she is the best thing I could ever ask for. I always wanted to do something big in return.

And there is Sung-ho oppa, our co-worker. Basically, my sister's fiance. He helps me in taking orders. He loves my sister a lot. I can see that. I've always seen my sister happy with him. They are a couple made for each other. I always felt happy for them. He is really caring and sweet.

And this is my family. My sister, oppa and the bakery. There's nothing else I could ask for.

I finished all the dishes and headed upstairs and saw unnie sleeping tight. I tip-toed and reached the other end of the bed and crept in and slept.

Well, it was a hectic day.

*next day

I got down and saw my sister arranging the tables and chairs.

"Unnie, good morning." I said and sat on the stairs, rubbing my eyes.

"Y/n, get ready. We should open the shop fast. Get up." She said. I nodded and refreshed myself.

I showered and changed to new clothes and headed down.

"Oppa!!" As I saw Sung-ho oppa, I ran to him and hugged him.

"I missed you so much oppa."

"Me too." He said and ruffled my hair.

The door opened, with a bell sound and we got back to work.

I took orders, while oppa packed or served them.

"Oppa, when are you going to marry unnie?" I asked, curiously.

"Well, we have talked about it and we decided to marry after you find someone and marry them." He said.

"Wha-" I was in shocked.

"You know your sister cares for you. And we both wanted it. You always come first." He said.

"But not in this." I said and left from there, angrily.

I stood by the corner of the rooftop and tears streamed down as I thought about it.

"Y/n." I heard oppa call me. I wiped my tears and turned towards him, but it continued to flow.

"Y/n, You are more important to us than anything." My head hung down.

"I understand. But how long will you guys wait? I always wanted to give unnie happiness, I wanted to see her happy. And I saw it when she was with you. She feels everything when she's with you. I'm just more burden to her. If I wasn't there, she would've been happy. Everytime she keeps worrying about me and I don't know what I can do in return. I'd would've been better if she had left me there."

As I finished, I felt a pain in my cheek. I looked up and saw my sister, all in tears.

"Who said that you're a burden? And you want me to leave you with that guy who is always drunk as hell and never even looked at us, who never even remembered he had two daughters?" She asked, in anger.

She hugged me and I hugged her back.

"You are my happiness. More than anything. Seeing you happy, brings me everything. You trusted me and came out of the house at a very young age and I was scared if something might happen to you. But you were strong, more than I was. I am really grateful to have a sister like you." She said.

"Me too. I'm sorry unnie." I said and cried.

"No. I'm sorry, for always making you think like that." She said.

"Awww! Look at my two princess' crying." Oppa said and hugged us both.

"Now, go and wash your faces. You both don't look good when you cry." He said and unnie hit oppa's stomach.

"My sister looks good, no matter how she is." Unnie said.

"So do you." And we washed our face and headed down and continued our work.
