Chapter 2: Trouble is back

“Jesus! Tom!”. Tom laughed at her but Katy seem not to play along with his funny game.

“you scared me” she said placing her hand on her chest with her cell phone and her bag in the other.

“Did I?” Tom asked jokingly. “ok I’m sorry, I thought I could surprise you” he said with a wink. Katy gave him a questioning look and then finally burst out laughing.

“You mean you put a distress call across to me just to surprise me by startling me in the middle of the road?”

Katy gives Tom yet another questioning look. Tom tucked in his hands into his pockets giving Katy a naughty smile.

“well, that’s one of it. Let’s say we left out the most important part of the wedding planning, and that’s mostly because I wanted to make it very special, just the two of us”.

Katy gives him a confused look still appearing speechless. Tom smiled at her and took her hand leading her into the Blue Nile.

It’s a jewelry store and Katy takes in the sight of the entire store and looks at Tom who smiles at her. A young man on a blue shirt and a khaki trouser walks up to them and led them to the section for female jewelries.

Katy finally appears happy and excited as she tried on different jewelries, from the necklaces to the earrings and bracelets and finally they tried on the wedding ring. They both looked so lovely together and they had so much fun trying out different jewelries for the wedding.

By the time they were through at the jewelry store, it was already getting pretty late but then Tom suggested they head out to the heart of the city for dinner. Katy quickly suggest on an Italian restaurant. Tom agrees and they drove straight to an Italian restaurant.

The evening is warm and cozy. They walked hand in hand into the restaurant and the porter ushers them to a table and a waiter walked up to them and greeted them with a bow. Katy is already excited about the dinner as she takes the menu and tries to decide on what she would love to take.

Already not so sure of what she wanted because she had so much on the menu she would actually love to try out. So for starters she ordered for salad, mac and cheese while Tom ordered for minestrone soup and sparkling wine.

While waiting for the waiter to show up with their orders, they decided to engage in a conversation mostly about the wedding.

“Katy!” Tom calls out to her and she looks up at him. Tom took her hands and kissed it. “Thanks for accepting to do this with me. I couldn’t have thought of being with anyone else other than you”. Katy looks at him smiling so hard that someone from afar could tell she’s having some butterflies in her stomach.

The waiter appeared with their order and Katy looks excited at the site of the meal. The waiter pops open the wine and poured it into their glasses and finally bowed out. They both took their glasses and Tom proposed a toast.

“Cheers to us never being apart”. They clink their glasses.

“And to me loving just you and you alone”.

Four days to Katy and Tom’s big day, everyone is going about their normal daily routine. Katy steps out of the coffee shop for her daily espresso and heads out to her office. On getting to her office, she meets Julia, her black British college friend who happens to be her cake designer. Katy is happy to see her as they both gave each other a hug.

“How’s our bride to be doing today?” she asked teasingly

“As you can see I’m doing just fine”. Katy said with a wide smile. “Wasn’t expecting you so early in the morning. Hope everything is fine”.

Julia nods and grins at her. “Yes I know. Came to pick up my mum’s favorite skin care product. She has been so persistent to have it for days now so I thought it was the right time to come in and pick it up”. She said giving Katy a devilish smile.

Katy appears to understand what the smile means and decided to get it out of her.

“And?” Katy ask raising a brow at her.

Julia smiles hard finally realizing she has been caught in her own game.

“ok fine! I also came so we could talk about the bachelorette party”. she grins at her with wide eyes, curious about what her response might be.

Katy gasp with her eyes wide open and the she covers one side of her face with her hand and curse silently.

“oh my God Julia! I almost forgot about that, though Tom and I Haven’t discussed about that. Thank you so, so much for reminding me. Why don’t we go into my office and discuss about it”?

Julia did a naughty child's dance as she follows Katy behind into her office.

Katy has always admired Julia’s enthusiastic spirit and since college she has been popularly known as 'the life of the party' because of her love for parties and her ability to organize parties. She could actually pull crowds and turn a small gathering into a huge party.

Julia later relocated to England to take up her master’s program in Economics. She returned immediately she completed her studies but she decided to open a bakery and she has been doing so well in the business, making the most exceptional cakes in town.

Julia is very jovial and her fluent English ascent has really made her gained a lot of admiration especially from the male folks but she has decided to be single. She said reasons best known to her and all her friends had all given up on hooking her up with random guys.

Katy and Julia spent time trying to discuss about the bachelorette party and the wedding then Julia suddenly became quiet and stared into her friend’s face. Katy stops speaking and ask her why she’s looking at her that way.

“Do you love him?” Julia ask her but then Katy’s smile suddenly disappears.
