Chapter 2: Tears From Separation.

[ 2120 WORDS ]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so for the next 4 years, Yuna and Yuji grew closer than ever along with their parents who became close friends.
Yuna and Yuji's relationship outshone their parents though, after all, the two became inseparable.
They laughed together, bathed together, ate together, slept together and they got into fights with each other but ALWAYS made up with one another in the end.
They were each other only best friends and didn't mind at all that they only regularly associated with each other instead of other kids. While they did play with other kids none could ever come close to being as close as they were with one another.
Their parents, on multiple occasions even talked about how the two looked like the perfect couple even going as far as to joke about them getting married in the future.
Overall their 4 years together were a blast but as happy as things were, it couldn't last forever.
~~ 4 YEARS LATER - YUNA'S DEPARTURE ~~
Inside the Yamamoto household, a tense atmosphere filled the living room where Yuna and Fuji stood facing each other.
With tears in her big dark eyes as she gripped her pure white dress in frustration Yuna, with hurt pulsing through each word she cried out said. "Father, I don't want to leave him!"
With a helpless look, Fuji crouched down and placed his hand on her head while saying. "I'm sorry honey but we can't stay any longer. Your powers have been awakening for the past year already and they only get stronger with each passing day. If we stay any longer your powers will only hurt him when you're around him. I'm sure you don't want that right?"
Listening to his reasoning Yuna's small heart sank, she didn't want this. Powers that she never asked for were keeping her from getting her wish, the only thing she's ever personally asked for from her father couldn't be given to her because of them.
Tears continued to stream down her cheeks and drip onto the ground as she cried out. "Powers like these, I don't want them! I want to be with Yuu-Kun!"
Fuji's own heart gripped watching her cry so much, he didn't expect it would have such an effect on her which was his oversight because he knew just how close the two were.
It took him a few seconds of contemplation but he came to a decision. One that had been on his mind for a while now. "Yuna do you care about Yuji that much? So much that you would give up your powers for him?" He questioned looking into her eyes.
Yuna sniffled a bit from the crying before she said. "I do, *sniffle* I want to stay by Yuu-Kun's side even if I lose my powers. I want to m-marry Yuu-Kun just like Aunty and Uncle said."
As she talked about the whole marriage thing she developed a blush as she thought of actually marrying him like her father, his mother and father proposed to them multiple times before.
Although she was still sniffling and crying Fuji could tell that she was dead serious about what she just said.
He didn't think that what he mentioned during conversations as a joke would be how she would want it to be.
As much as the look in her eyes told him she was serious, he wanted to hear it from her mouth. "Yuna, are you sure about marrying him? You know there are many other kids in the God realm who you could end up liking right?"
Without thinking for even a moment she shook her head and said. "No! I don't want them. Yuu-Kun is special. When I was playing with the kids in the God realm I didn't feel like how I feel when I'm with Yuu-Kun!"
Fuji couldn't help but smile because courtesy of his powers he could feel the emotions that Yuna had weren't something to take lightly.
He just wanted to see whether she was aware of her feelings or was just saying it because he mentioned it before.
Naturally, he also knew that Yuji had the same feelings for her, though he didn't know that the feelings would come this far.
"Did you talk to Yuji about marrying him?" He asked.
Yuna quickly nod her head and said. "He said he wants to marry me too." She replied after a sniffle.
Fuji smiled because he could use this..... "Alright how about this then. Why don't we go back to the God realm just like we were supposed to BUT I will make it so that Yuji will come to you one day so you can get married?" He proposed with an optimistic look in his eyes.
Yuna's eyes widen slightly hearing the proposal however, despite it being put on the table after a few seconds of thinking Yuna, still wasn't happy, she didn't want to leave him at all. "But...I don't want to leave him. Why can't I just remove my powers?" She questioned.
Even though she still wasn't convinced Fuji wanted to try again as he said. "Think about it Yuna, if you come back home to the God realm with me you can learn to use your powers to do cool things for Yuji when you two meet again. If you train with your powers you will be able to give Yuji all those cool powers that he wants but if you lose your powers you won't be able to do those things for him. Don't you want to give him special things that nobody else can give him?"
Yuna's eyes widen once again in realisation from what her father said. If this was the reason she was going to be leaving then she could somewhat accept it.
If training to use her powers will allow her to do special things for Yuji when they get married in future then she was willing to go back.
"...fine. I'll go back home." She said as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
Fuji pat her head a bit with a smile and said. "That's my girl now, let's go say goodbye to them."
As he said so he stood back up and stretched his hand out to hold her hand. As if contemplating her decision, for a moment Yuna just stared into his hand but as the grip on her dress tightened in one hand she stretched out the other to hold his hand.
The two of them then left the house and walked just a few dozen steps till they reached Yuji's house.
*DING* *DONG*
Yuna stood by the door with tears threatening to fall from her eyes once again as the idea of leaving Yuji sank in. It hurt, by far more than any pain she felt from falling or stubbing her toe.
Within a few moments from the other side of the door.
*GHU* *GHU* *GHU*
"It's Yuna!"
Through the door, they could hear the sound of Yuji's excited voice and running footsteps.
It was such a normal thing, hearing his voice and his footsteps that is. It was never something she paid much attention to but now, it felt like these little things were everything inside her.
Although her mind couldn't realise why it was all so different because of her naivety as a child, her heart did. It understood just how important they were.
It shoved her over the edge.
Her throat filled making her feel as if she was choking, tears fell and her hands trembled.
Fuji who realised what was going on couldn't help but feel bad, he was the one that brought them together after all.
Now that he had to be the one to tear them apart when they were so close, he felt disappointed in himself despite it not being his fault.
Gods can not normally exist in the human world otherwise, they would destroy it unless they seal away their powers.
Although works are only temporary as the seals deteriorate over time because of the Gods immense power unless they have some sort of 3rd party assistance that can help maintain the seals.
Fuji didn't have such a 3rd party because of the steep requirements to fill the post, as a result, his time was running out in the Human world and these 4 years were it.
The concept of losing powers for them was none existent which is why he was so persistent in his persuasion.
Anyway, just as the door flew open revealing a smiling Yuji without thinking about what she was doing, Yuna who had been crying silently ran into Yuji's arms pushing him back and down onto the ground on his back making him cough from the impact.
*CRIES* *CRIES* *CRIES*
Yuna let it all out as they fell together surprising Yuji even further than he already was due to the fall.
Fuji could only let out a helpless sigh as he walked in, just as he did. Yuji's parents came.
"Why is Yuna-chan crying?" Eri asked with a sympathetic look.
"Let's go sit in the living room first, then I'll explain, "Fuji replied.
Eri, nod her head seriously because she could tell, thanks to being friends for so long she knew, the tone he just used was when something important is going on.
--
The five of them sat across from each other with Yuji's parents on one side and Fuji, along with Yuna who was clinging to Yuji's arm shedding silent tears from her now red and puffy eyes on the other.
"So, what's going on Fuji-san? It's rare to see her crying so much if at all." Eri said to start the conversation.
Fuji let out a sigh before saying. "Well, it's because we've decided to move away soon."
He didn't beat around the bush at all.
Yuna's grip on Yuji tightened as he spoke while everyone else's eyes widen in shock, 'it's no wonder were their first thoughts but as it sank in, they wanted more details.
The tea had to be spilt otherwise they wouldn't rest easy, not with their close friends just leaving like that.
While his parents took it relatively normally although saddened about it, Yuji took it the worst.
He froze.
Eyes wide, mouth parted slightly and colour drained from his skin. He had been shocked to silence, meanwhile, Fuji continued.
Without them having to ask, Fuji explained. "I got a better job in another county and I can't work from home anymore with them so we have to move."
Yuji's parents could understand their reason for leaving so although they were sad, didn't complain especially because Fuji for the past year had been offhandedly commenting about how he was looking for jobs so it wasn't like this was something new to them.
"Huh...?"
In their momentary silence they heard Yuji speak, his voice broke a bit through the word and as they looked at him, they understood why.
He was crying.
He had his free hand wiping at tears that began to fall as he asked. "Yuna...is leaving?"
His parents looked at him and felt bad, even Fuji did but it didn't last long.
*SNAP*
Everyone in the room except for Yuna and Fuji, who had snapped his fingers froze.
Fuji used a few of his powers that had returned and froze time inside the house for everyone except the two of them.
"Yuna, why don't we just leave now? I can change their memories around so that they think we already had this conversation and have already left. I'm sure you don't want to see him crying too right?" Fuji said as he pats Yuna's head as she silently shed tears looking at Yuji.
To be honest, Fuji didn't want to see him crying too, just watching Yuna was already too much for his softie heart that cares about her and Yuji very much.
"Yes...I want to go." She replied in a cheerless tone.
"Don't worry, you'll see him again. I'll make sure he comes to you." Fuji reassured as he once again snapped his fingers but this time the whole room filled with a bright white light inside which Yuji's families memories had been being changed around to forget almost everything about Yuna and Fuji.
More specifically for Yuji to forget everything about them while leaving some memories with his parents.
All while Fuji and Yuna disappeared back to their home in the God Realm.
Because their memories had been altered to think that Yuna and Fuji had long left, Yuji and co after the two of them left continued their lives normally....well at least they tried to but life just didn't want them to catch a break.
