Chapter 107: Tournament Prep
Yun Che started speaking about some guy who tried to kill him and he ended up landing in here. Cross clicked his tongue and said "I should've killed that kid before, what a bastard!" Yun Che sighed and said "Well, I'm fine now.." he frowned and said "He will land in my hands sooner or later anyway."
Cross hummed and said "Do you think the Emperor told him to send someone after you?" Yun Che shook his head and said "He can't be that stupid right? I'm in the Empire now, if I suddenly go missing won't that give him a bad rep?"
Cross nodded and said "That makes sense... But this 400th prince or whatever... He's so petty? I even had a nice conversation with him, he heard my name and went berserk. I only kicked him out of the city..." he sighed in regret "Seems like a should've slapped him out of existence..."
Feng Xue'er was on the side and looked extremely awkward, these two... They really didn't know who she was? Cross looked at Feng Xue'er and said "Why are you here anyway, Xue'er? Did you get captured by that 25,098th prince?" Feng Xue'er opened her mouth and Cross mumbled "I wouldn't be surprised... That guy... There's not a single good thing about him."
He rubbed his chin and added "Plus, since Xue'er is so cute he probably kidnapped her." it didn't sound like a compliment, more like a fact. Before Feng Xue'er could speak, Cross patted her head and said with a smile "Don't worry Xue'er, I'll beat him up so bad even his family won't recognize him anymore!"
Yun Che also gave her a smile and a nod, Feng Xue'er almost cried. Cross thought it was tears of joy and hugged her as he said softly "It's okay, Big brother is here." Feng Xue'er froze before warmth filled her entire being she hugged Cross back and nodded her head saying "En."
Cross smiled and rubbed her back gently. Feng Xue'er suddenly said "Eh? Why haven't you cultivated [World Ode to the Phoenix] yet?" Cross looked at Yun Che, who touched his nose embarrassingly.
Cross let go of Feng Xue'er and coughed as he said "The chic- Phoenix we got our blood from only had the last 2 levels." Feng Xue'er gasped and said "Waaah! I only have the first 4!" Cross rubbed his nose and said "So you see, we can't even learn it if we want to."
Feng Xue'er jumped up and patted her chest as she said "I, little Xue, will teach you!" she pointed her fingers at Cross and Yun Che's foreheads and a light flew into their heads. The first 4 levels of [World Ode to the Phoenix] appeared in their brains.
Cross sat there for 5 minutes before waking up and saying "Huh... It's only this?" Feng Xue'er jumped in shock and said "5... 5 minutes?!" Cross smirked and said confidently "This big brother.. I'm the greatest!" Feng Xue'er giggled and calmed down before saying happily "It's true!"
Cross grabbed Feng Xue'er and tapped on her forehead, imprinting the last 2 levels of the Ode into her mind. Feng Xue'er went into a enlightened state and Cross sat her up, before putting a Time bubble around her. His control had increased and the time ratio was 10 hours inside, 1 minute outside.
Cross clicked his tongue, he was just too amazing he might even fall in love with himself!
What an asshole...
Several days later
The three became good friends. Feng Xue'er learned the last 2 levels and all three had the full Ode. Not that Cross would ever use it, but it was immensely helpful for Yun Che. Cross also revised his Ice fire Art to make it better than before now that he had the entire World Ode, he was pretty satisfied, it was at least double the strength now, which was saying something because it was already plenty strong before!
Cross stood up and said "We should probably get going, no? The tournament will start soon." Yun Che nodded, Cross poked Feng Xue'er nose as he smiled and said "We're leaving." Feng Xue'er nodded and said "Bye!" Cross choked and said "Little Xue, you're coming with us. What if those bad guys try and take advantage of you when I'm not here?"
Feng Xue'er remembered that she never said anything, she looked awkward and said "Haha.. I'll be fine.. Just come get me later?" Cross was confused and said "But-" Feng Xue'er pushed him out of the cave saying "No buts! Go! I'll be fine, I promise!" Cross sighed and said "Fine, if anything happens to you..."
He narrowed his eyes and finished "There won't be a need for a 'Divine Phoenix Empire' any longer..." Feng Xue'er trembled and looked at his back in a daze, those words should've made her angry but strangely they made her feel warm. She could tell he was serious and a peculiar feeling emerged from her heart as she watched him and Yun Che leave.
She suddenly felt very lonely and sad when he left, he touched the prayer bead necklace and caressed it gently. Her beautiful face lit up with a warm smile as she said in the most gentle tone "I will wait for you Big brother Cross..."
Little did she realize, Cross heard her through the beads. His entire body almost melted into a puddle, her tone was so gentle, so warm.. It was fatal.
Yun Che saw him sway and chuckled as he said "How will the other 2 feel?" Cross smiled wryly and said "The fire in my backyard will probably spread... but she can hold her own. Her personality isn't weak at all. If it gets too much I'll step in." he winked at Yun Che, who snickered and shook his head as they flew back to Phoenix City.
Yun Che took a bunch of materials and made a pill before throwing it in his mouth. Cross threw a time barrier over him as he wasn't going to wait 3 days for this kid to refine a pill. He had more entertaining things to do.
A while later
Yun Che woke up and said "How long did I take?" Cross said "7 minutes and a bit." Yun Che was stunned and Cross winked at him as he said in an old man voice "Time is the lord of all things~" Yun Che shook his head with a smile.
Cross looked at him and said "You're suppressing your strength to not break through? Why?" Yun Che smiled wryly and said "I'm compressing. It already went down to the Earth 5th level yesterday and now I'm at the 10th level but I should be 2 times stronger."
Cross tilted his head and said "Thank god my cultivation isn't as slow as you, I think I'd smash me head against a wall and die." Yun Che felt his mouth twitch as he said "Thanks bro..." Cross chuckled and said "I have a good idea to get you to break through..."
Yun Che had a bad feeling and they teleported to the Sky Poison Pearl.
Luna walked out of a crack and sat down on Jasmine's bed, next to Jasmine as they talked about the new blue bead on Cross' necklace.
Cross suited up and took out his mace as he said "I will suppress myself to the 5th level Sky Realm..." he paused for a moment before grinning "But I'm gonna try and kill you." Yun Che took out Dragonfault and swung at Cross, who appeared in from of him, swinging at Yun Che's head with a feral expression.
Yun Che grinned and continued to Cross' neck. They both stopped centimeters away from death, Cross chuckled and said "Using my own tactics against me?" Yun Che smirked and replied "Seems like the only solution when fighting a maniac like you." Cross laughed and kicked out, making Yun Che jump back before they clashed again.
Jasmine and Luna watched as Yun Che put up a good fight before getting obliterated and beat like a ragdoll. Luna said "He's gotten much better." Jasmine snorted and said "Of course. He trains with me." Luna looked at her and said "Oh? You think you're better than me or something?"
Jasmine 'smiled' and said "Isn't that obvious?" Luna chuckled and cracked her knuckles as she said "I remember someone's strength being sealed.." Jasmine backed off and Luna punched out, a white light with multicolored specks shot out from her fist at Jasmine.
Jasmine blocked her and sneered "That's all you got, you old bitch!" Luna chuckled darkly and white tears poured from her eyes, turning into an army of giant whales. All the whales were pure white with multicolored specks, Luna 'smiled' and said "How about this, 'LITTLE' sister?"
Jasmine grinded her teeth and they started fighting.
Luna pulled out a fishing rod and her eyes started glowing as she looked at Jasmine, who was defending against the constant whale attacks. Luna casted her fishing pole and the line wrapped around Jasmine's ankle, Luna gave a light tug and pulled Jasmine's balance off letting her get hit.
The line disappeared and Luna lasted out again, nailing Jasmine in the shoulder, letting a whale do the rest.
Jasmine was severely stunned, Luna had full control of the fight. If she was just as strong as her Jasmine didn't think she would last 5 minutes in a spar, but if it was directly killing Jasmine knew that she would win.
Jasmine got a little excited, she could train her senses like this, Luna smiled and continued to put pressure on Jasmine. Luna stepped to the side and appeared several meters away, attacking from a different angle.
Jasmine felt like she was fighting a battle while surrounded, but Luna had a massive flaw. She liked to control the battlefield but she herself couldn't use her preferred style without the use of her whales.
Jasmine flashed to Luna and tapped her shoulder.
Luna sighed and Jasmine smiled happily saying "Actually, you're really strong! Against slower enemies they can only wait to die. The fishing pole is also an extremely strange weapon, but anything else wouldn't work for your full control."
Jasmine said honestly "I'm actually really shocked! Can you see flaws?" Luna nodded with a smile as she said "I can see flaws, weak points, and 10 seconds into the future." Jasmine was stunned and shouted "What!? That's insane!" Luna giggled and said "Round 2?" Jasmine giggled and they started sparring again.
3 days later
Cross healed Yun Che, who was on the ground. Cross picked him up and said "If we don't go right now, we'll be late." Yun Che felt revitalized and they left the Pearl quickly, leaving Jasmine and Luna to spar inside.
Jasmine said "Amazing! You're even better than Cross!" Luna smiled sadly and said "I just want to help him, that's all..." Jasmine trembled and slowly hugged her as she said "We will." Luna smiled and said "Thanks, sis.." Jasmine wiped her eyes and smiled sweetly saying "Let's get back to it then!" Luna smiled and summoned her whales again, her fishing rod turned shiny black and they started sparring again.
With Yun Che and Cross
Yun Che frowned and said "Why is there no seating for the Blue Wind Nation?" the man, named Feng Zhanyun sneered and said "Why should there be?" Cross started laughing and his aura flared and spiked as he snatched Feng Zhanyun by the neck and said "No seats eh? Maybe the entire Divine Chicken Empire shouldn't have a place to live either? What do you think?"
Feng Zhanyun paled and started trembling in fear, who was this expert!? Cross grinned, revealing his sharp canines as he said "The Reaper is from the Blue Wind nation, are you saying that you're better than him?" Feng Zhanyun shook his head frantically and Cross chuckled grimly as he continued "I think you are. I think you think you're the best in the world. I think you'll find a better Empire in hell."
Feng Zhanyun said "Please! I didn't mean anything! If I knew there was such a powerful senior even if I had 1000 times the guts I wouldn't dare!" Cross sneered and said "Then where are our seats, you filthy ant." Feng Zhanyun shook and said "P-Please follow me!" Cross let him go and he scrambled to the main seating places before saying "P-P-Princess snow!?"
Cross and Yun Che looked over before freezing over. Cross coughed heavily and Yun Che looked away, Princess Snow was Feng Xue'er... Feng Xue'er looked over and saw Cross and Yun Che, she also looked awkward. Cross realized and turned green as he said "Bro... Remember when we were talking in the cave.. about.."
Yun Che slapped his forehead and said "You have to be fucking joking." Cross scratched his neck and chuckled awkwardly, before kicking Feng Zhanyun saying coldly "Stop staring at m- Princess Snow and show us to our seats before I make you change your allegiance."
Feng Zhanyun trembled and said "O-Of course!" Cross followed him with his eyes on Feng Xue'er, he touched the blue bead on his necklace and said "Little Xue, I didn't know you were the princess... Err Sorry for threatening your family..."
Feng Xue'er giggled and replied "It's okay..." then she whispered "I'm still waiting for you to come save me~" Cross almost tripped and Feng Xue'er giggled from where she was standing.
