'Why do I blush a lot these days?' I asked myself.
"Th-Thank you . . . Ahri," I whispered while staring at her feet.
"You're welcome," Ahri answered, and I swore that I'd heard giddiness in her voice. Maybe it was just my imagination.
"By the way, did you know that we first met exactly three hundred sixty-four days ago?"
I looked up while my eyes grew wide in surprise.
"R-really?!" I asked her in disbelief.
She nodded with a very happy smile on her face.
"Time goes by quickly, Iminha." She patted my head, and this time, I swore that I'd heard a pang of sadness in her voice.
"Then that means my birthday had passed one or two weeks ago," I said to myself thoughtfully.
Ahri looked at me with surprise in her eyes.
"Wait . . . your birthday has already passed?" she asked in disbelief.
I nodded. "I-I ran off from my home a week a-after my birthday and met y-you almost a week later."
"I'm sorry . . ."
She looked down at the ground with a sad expression on her face, and her fox ears were drooping in a sad but cute way. She must've been the most adorable woman I'd ever met in my life.
'Why is she suddenly sad?' I thought in bewilderment, trying my best to ignore the feeling of warmth on my cheeks.
Then I realized why.
"Uhh . . . y-you don't have to feel sad about not k-knowing my birthday, Ahri," I said reassuringly, "I don't mind about my birthday, anyway."
She perked up. "Why don't you?" she asked in a confused voice.
"W-well . . . it's b-because nobody has ever celebrated my birthday in m-my life . . . s-so I grew to not mind it," I explained, my hands squirming behind my back in embarrassment. 'Although, it'd be fantastic if I could celebrate it with someone . . .'
"Oh . . . umm . . . ok," Ahri said uncertainly, her nine tails swaying behind her frantically while her ears twitched like crazy. "I . . . I'm sorry to hear that."
"It's alright." I tried a reassuring smile. "I-I'm used to it."
The only thing I got in return was a sad expression on Ahri's face.
