Chapter 3: Chapter 2

All six of them live their life not knowing how interconnected it may be. One day, Dysnomia is told by the director of the orphanage, an Amber eyed women, to come to her office. The director's office is Amber and even her clothes are Amber. The women is a bit too committed to her eye color and rank but no one can question it in any case.

"Yes ma'am," Dysnomia says as she sees the woman staring at her laptop, which reveals a calendar that has many orphanage events. The woman lifts her eyes up to see the girl and smiles brightly at the person before her, like she's proud of the person she's become.

"Have you found a job yet?"she asks while her face turns hopeful but when she sees the look on Dysnomia's face she decides to suggest one, "I have found one for you. Prostitution will suit you well."

"No, I have found a job," Dysnomia says hurriedly with her Brown eyes widened, because of the horrid suggestion she's been given just because of her rank.

"A job and a family all in one day, how lucky! They said they can only accept you if you have a job though so I was trying to be helpful," she states happily, she's really quite a friendly Amber person. Dysnomia is in shock because of her fortune. Dysnomia also notices that the woman means no harm by her unruly suggestion because for her its the norm.

"I will leave to my job then and be back when I can, please tell me the location and I will go there directly after ma'am,"Dysnomia says while her face lights up due to the fact that she'll now have a family to come home to and not just an orphanage full of children. The lady nods with a huge grin on her face, because when a child leaves her job feels fulfilling and it makes her feel powerful.

Dysnomia runs, through the sandy and rocky streets filled with bushes and a random tree every few miles, to Amzi's house, knocks on the Hazel door and says to Amzi's father, "Hello sir."

"Ah, you must be Dysnomia. My son said you needed a job and I need a multitasker. Are you up for it?"Amzi's father asks kindly and with excitement. "Yes sir, I can do any job,"Dysnomia says politely and willingly.

"I will give you minimum wage since I don't have much, its better than no job,"Amzi's father says kindly, his smile lighting up the dark room that has minimal lighting due to the amount of lighting used up by the rich and powerful. "Thanks sir,"Dysnomia says happily, her face matching his.

Minimum wage is 20$ or if you are a slave, a meal. They make their way through his small home and back out into the sunlight so they can reach a small shed-like room that holds cars in and out that are in need of repair.

"I would like you to help with the fixing of these cars in the garage since its enclosed no one can see you so it's legal and you can help fix my ever breaking truck that I need for work tomorrow," Amzi's father says mischievously, because he knows he's not supposed to make her do this kind of job but he is going against the rules to see a young girl smile.

"Hi Amzi, where have you been?"his father exclaims after a few minutes of silence in the garage. Amzi stares at the two of them illegally working on the cars that are due to be given to their respective owners for minimum wage, since they're also quite poor.

"I was just helping someone out on the way home because their car stalled. I got a meal as pay and so I'm late," Amzi says dutifully and with no emotion as he seems in a hurry to shower. His father nods and goes back to work smiling as he goes along, not even bothered to know if his son is lying or telling the truth. Dysnomia stares at his happy state and then she gets to work alongside the old man.

After a full day, Amzi walks Dysnomia to her new home which is in the Brown community. Dysnomia's eyes are scanned and so are Amzi's, they're both let in.

"How come you are allowed in?"Dysnomia asks politely but only to prove her own stupidity as a Brown.

"Well its the laws. I'm higher than your eye color so I can go wherever you can,"Amzi states like the laws are nothing but empty rituals.

"Don't you hate the laws though?"Dysnomia asks innocently but with ulterior motives, she wants to know his thoughts.

"I won't answer that. How many homes have you gone to?" Amzi says and asks without fellow feeling.

"Well two, but I know the whole system and how it works. Taking kids away from their parents cause of their eye color. So you never know if you are with your real family or not?"Dysnomia states in one breath.

"Stop talking Dysnomia or else you will suffer," Amzi says out of care for her and concern for her safety.

As they talk and walk, they pass trees on the sandy-rocky road. The road isn't tarred because Browns don't have cars or any form of transport except there legs. She comes to the door number and so she knocks on the new family's door. From the outside the house resembles a graveyard with dead plants and darkness surrounding it, the Brown house resembling poop as the darkness of the house, that contains no lights, looms over her like a shadow with no source.

"Hello! Oh sir!"the mother of the house says then looks down her shock evident from her bulging eyes and surprised look.

"I'm just seeing where my worker is living,"Amzi says while peering in then walks out and leaves for his home.

"So you must be Dysnomia," the father of the house states with a smiling face, "your master cares for you a lot it seems." Dysnomia nods, because she sees the clear care he has for her by bringing her to her destination.

"Lets introduce you!"the mum exclaims, "Lily and Jonah."

"Um we have a secret as you can see,"the father says while whispering but smiling nonetheless,"I have heterochromia and I chose to be Brown instead of Green cause of my wife. We ended up having Brown eyed Jonah and heterochromia Lily."

"Did you make her look like that? Heterochromia?"Dysnomia asks seriously as she notices the one Green and one clearly fake Brown eye which is contacts.

"What do you mean?"the dad asks feigning confusion.

"She has Green eyes, not heterochromia,"Dysnomia says with urgency, because she doesn't want to be directly involved with people that will make her noticeable.

"Wow she isn't Brown eyed either!"the mum states astonished at her intelligence.

"Huh,"Dysnomia exclaims with fear evident, because just from one thing she said they just decide she isn't Brown.

"Your too smart!"the mum exclaims sweetly.

The family's lack of any other emotion but happiness stirs suspicion in Dysnomia. Its not normal for a family to be only happy, arguments should've ensued and preparations should've already been made for Dysnomia, because of her future stay there. The next thing a bunch of government officials barge in and inject everyone effortlessly, everyone falls into deep sleep instantaneously.

"Are you testing her? For what?"the man asks in the distance.

Dysnomia wakes up groggily in a bright room, all members of the family looking down on her while she lays in a bed confined, completely tied to it. Unable to move and too frightened to speak she just stares at them with fear in her ever closing eyes.

"Dysnomia?"a man asks seriously.

"Yes sir?"Dysnomia says questioningly.

"We have been watching you because of your school and others claiming that you aren't acting like a Brown," he states staring her in the eye while she's now confined to a chair, the man looking all too similar to Hitler, "so we are going to have to kill you because of this."

"Noooo!"Dysnomia screams in horror.

She wakes up in sweats in the home she last saw before they were taken but it seems it was all a dream.

"Hey are you ok?"Jonah and Lily ask at the same time, looking innocently at her.

"Yeah just a bad dream I guess,"Dysnomia says kindly but not trusting the fakeness of the family and it's constant happiness.

"Please don't tell on me about my eyes," Lily says scared as she trembles right before her eyes, the happiness fading for a matter of seconds until Dysnomia talks.

"I won't,"Dysnomia says confidently.

When Amzi arrives home, he stares into space knowing the truth behind her words but finding it hard to accept that his dad isn't his dad at all.

"Dad, did you enjoy the company of Dysnomia?"Amzi asks inquisitively because of the smile on his face and the fact that he's dancing.

"Yes she's a good worker and in the same boat as we are,"his father states with a slight smile evident on his yellowish skin that's wrinkling.

"Same boat?"Amzi asks utterly confused since their rank is different.

"Yes, we are low class and she's low too," he states as he goes for the ringing phone. RING! RING! Almost tripping over the long line the phone has.

"Hello? Yes this is he,"he states worried about who the caller may be, "oh I see so you won't be coming back then? Oh! Bye!"

"What happened?"Amzi asks anxiously because the caller could be anyone from a lowly slave to a government official which could mean trouble.

"Dysnomia said the government has always been watching her closely so she's going to find a Brown appropriate job tomorrow to get them off her back,"his father states with worry and sadness evident in his wrinkled face, the joy of no longer having a young girl in his house saddens him because he never got to have a daughter of his own.

"That's interesting, I mean how'd she know all that stuff," Amzi mutters to himself as his father leaves the simmering kitchen with a downtrodden expression.

Dysnomia drops school and travels to the city. The bustling city filled with mostly higher class people and very little surveillance. The only job available is a live-in maid which would mean disconnection from that family and its issues. Dysnomia gets distracted by the shining buildings in the sunlight and the beautiful flowers and their aromas. The sweetness filling the air and the sight of a few well-trained dogs, because any animals that are a danger are immediately killed. They're definitely the lowest in rank but some have a better life than most Browns. The colors are so bright unlike the Hazel and Brown communities, they could just as well be the underground sewerage places because the resemblance is uncanny. On the way, she is grabbed by a Blue eyed man with a sour expression, his grip so tight that her circulation cuts off.

He states, "You seem interesting! Lets go lowlife!" The man smells of alcohol, a delicacy for the rich, but she doesn't want to hurt the man even though that seems to be his intention.

"Let go of me!" Dysnomia screams but no one turns a listening ear because she's a Brown after all, "please!"

"No, so lets go!"the man states without a care in the world since she's a Brown he has every right over her life.

A young man punches him in the face, after a few minutes of torture, leaving a bloody nose and a very confused Blue man.

"Hey! Who do you think...! Sorry sir," the man states with anger which turns into submissiveness out of fear for his life, his eyes raging with many emotions from lust to anger to fear.

"Lets go, you'll be safe with me," the young man says kindly and smiles at her sweetly.

"Who?"Dysnomia exclaims and looks into his Amber eyes as worry sets in, "oh sir! I'm sorry!"

"Please, don't call me sir,"he states annoyed, his eyebrows furrowing at her polite words, "call me Enzo."

Dysnomia nods hurriedly but knows the reality, she cant just decide to not call him sir because he says so, "I'm Dysnomia."

"Why are you in the city? Its dangerous for Brown's," Enzo says seriously as they hide in an alleyway filled with darkness and overflowing garbage cans that can be smelled for miles. The stench keeping them safe from passerby's who're trying to avoid the disgusting pile.

"I need a job to get away from my new family," Dysnomia says honestly while she looks him in his eyes, a weary smile taking over her face.

"Oh I see. Well I can give you a job in the government ,"Enzo says helpfully but her eyes widen at his words, since that's what she's trying to run away from.

"No thanks, I'm trying to hide from them but they always seem to find me," Dysnomia says seriously as she looks at him, trying to say your here from the government and they sent you.

"Why are they looking for you?"Enzo asks concerned and curious.

"I can't say exactly," Dysnomia says withholding the information like it means her life.

"Ok you don't want to tell me, fine,"Enzo says while chuckling, "I can give you a job in the Green's house."

"Um sure,"Dysnomia says apprehensively, her face unsure.

He grabs her by the hand and starts speed walking towards a very big and fancy house with ivy crawling along the gemlike house. The house isn't too far from the city, but its in the Green community that's very close to the city gate. She immediately looks down to avoid any trouble from the Green family.

"Clytemnestra! I got you a gift!"Enzo exclaims as he walks into the Green house uninvited as the door is unlocked.

"Sir, what are you doing here?"Clytemnestra's mother exclaims in a state of shock since she didn't expect guests and she sees him rushing through her home uninvited with a Brown girl trailing behind.

"I'm looking for Cly,"Enzo says obviously like there's no other reason he'd come here. He doesn't even bother to care about his manners as he barges through the house uninvited as usual.

"Clytemnestra! Your friends here! Please make sure your sisters do their homework!" Clytemnestra's mother exclaims and leaves hurriedly while he walks up the stairs with Dysnomia. He straight away enters Clytemnestra's room without even knocking.

"Cly,"Enzo exclaims excitedly, he hears the sisters gasp in awe.

"They do exist and they're rather ugly!"they state while looking at her in disgust.

"Don't be rude Claudia and Hope,"Clytemnestra reprimands her sisters.

"Sorry Clytemnestra,"they state in a sing-song voice.

"Who's this?!"Clytemnestra asks flabbergasted, "Enzo!"

"Oh yeah, this is Dysnomia! She needs a job, so she can be your personal maid,"Enzo says excitedly, like he's solved the worlds biggest problems.

"I don't like slaving people around. So why do you want a job Dysnomia?"Clytemnestra says and asks suspiciously.

"I want to get away from my new family because well, I have reasons but I need a job because they forced me to leave school,"Dysnomia states in one breath and then she takes a deep breath at the end.

Clytemnestra and Enzo stare at her as she finishes her well thought out explanation.

"Fine but address me as ma'am in public only, in private we're friends but in front of anyone we're not, according to laws and no hiding secrets if it means trouble,"Clytemnestra says hurriedly, because she worries about the safety of her sisters and her mother.

"Then I already have to tell you something ma'am,"Dysnomia says feigning nervousness.

"Also don't call me ma'am in front of Enzo, so tell me!"Clytemnestra says with worry evident in her voice.

"Well the government is constantly watching me for reasons unknown to me,"Dysnomia says seriously but lying through her teeth partially.

"Oh I see!"Clytemnestra says without fear, "well I'm sure Enzo will help in some way."

Clytemnestra believes its a minor offense and a fixable problem.
