Chapter 3: ✓ First Day
It's been a week since I came here. Everything is going great. I organized my room with my stuff and according to my liking.
D helped me to get the photos I had on the wall creatively. She is the one who decorated this house so beautifully. She is creative and why not she is a tattoo artist, which explains the tattoos on her body. She said there were stories behind each tattoo. She is cool.
D took me around to show different places and for grocery shopping, all the necessary shops were in walking distance. There was even a takeaway and café in the area.
And to return the favour I cooked some food and turns out they loved it. And Caleb said that he would kiss the life out of the person who cooked it, he is a hell of a flirt but is also sweet and funny.
It's my first day of college. I woke up early to my alarm. Finished my business, took shower and then slipped in my black jeans, a white top and a black jacket. Dried my hair and let them settle just below my shoulders, applied eyeliner and lip gloss and slipped into an ankle-length brown boot, grabbed my backpack, putting some money and some other things, took my earphones and left my room and headed towards the kitchen.
D and Cal were having their makeout session against the kitchen table and I turned away quickly muttering a sorry.
They straighten up and Cal muttered a good morning.
Well, cal stays here at night sometimes. They are together for almost 2 years and cal shares an apartment with other friends, so they hang out here as there was no one here, but it's me now and they are trying hard not to have their makeout sessions in the living room and kitchen.
"So ready for the first day?" D asked
"ya, excited" I said
"Great all the best for it." Cal said patting my shoulder.
I quickly gulped down my coffee and ran out of the house.
I will have to take public transport and then a small walk to the college. I visited it once with D and Cal, it's huge and beautiful.
Well, my first day was good. It went off finding a class and having some introduction class. My classes are from 11 to 4 with an hour of break.
It's 4:10 and I walked up to 'sweetness bakery' which comes on my way home. They serve best-baked sweets around. I joined there as a cashier.
The owner Mrs. Loris, chef Jordan and Lexi the waitress. I visited this place with D when we were out to get some stuff. They needed an employee so I joined the job.
I have been working for two days now and turns out Mrs. Loris and Jordan are just as sweet as their baked food and Lexi is a 17-year-old girl studying in high school.
I entered the small cabin where Mrs.Loris was sitting to drop my stuff.
"Hello Mrs.Loris, how are you feeling now?" I asked
"Much better dear." She said waving it off "You say how was your college?"
"Great" I told her.
I grabbed my work jacket and went to the counter after briefly greeting Jordan and Lexi. There were few customers in the shop.
A small girl approached towards the display, her eyes glinting with joy as she scanned everything in the display.
"What would you like to have dear?" I asked the girl sweetly with a smile.
"Chocolate!" She said with a huge smile
Her father came behind her. "Anything with chocolate." He said
I nodded and suggested chocolate pudding, it was a good choice for kids not too sweet and a taste they would like.
The girl took her pudding with a broad smile. Her father paid the bill and they left.
There was a small smile playing on my lips as I continued attending other customers.
"Well, college and work are tiring." I said as I slumped on the couch with a glass of wine in my hand, twirling it slowly.
Beside me, D just hmmed as she went through Netflix. We just finished all the work after dinner and decided to watch something on Netflix.
"How was your day?" I asked her
"Same as always I enjoy working on big tattoos but there are not many customers that come asking for them. Normally they come for small tattoos." She said
"Do you want to have one? I'll not charge my fees to you." She asked
"Not now, I'll come to you when I want one for sure." I told her
We sat in silence as the movie started. It was some criminal and cops movie, I didn't bother to know the name.
My phone vibrated on the coffee table and I checked the caller ID, it is my mom. I stood up from the couch taking my phone away from the noise of the movie.
'Hello mom'
I answered the call while making my way in the backyard.
'Hello dear. How are you and how was your first day?'
' I'm fine and It was an amazing day. How about you?'
'I am the same as always.'
'What about Dad?'
'He is good, but he misses you a lot more so his birthday is coming near'
'I miss you both too' I felt a pang in my chest
I talked to mom for 20 mins before coming back and taking my place.
'Well this is not easy, but I can deal with it.' I mulled my eyes fixed on the screen. I feel exhausted so I let my eyes closed drowning in sleep.
