" Who was here the entire time??", Lu Chang Chang asked in a cold tone. She wasn't liking the silence one bit.
Liu Chen came forward and said," I was here Your Highness."
" Tell me what you saw.", she commanded.
" Your highness, I was going to go to His Highness's study to prepare the required materials for today. At that time, I saw Miss Mo trying to go into His Highness's study.
Knowing that no one was allowed to enter the study without His Highness's permission, Chu Chu who was walking this way, stopped Miss Mo from entering.
This angered Miss Mo… And..", he spoke.
" Hmm…", she hummed in response. She then turned to face Mo Jia and her servant with a dark face.
" What is the crime she committed?? Fulfilling her duty??", she asked in a loud tone that was filled with anger and coldness. Both Mo Jia and her handmaid didn't dare to speak.
Lu Chang Chang, sighed in frustration. Her patience was wearing thin with every passing second. She hated the people who couldn't acknowledge their mistakes.
" Who hit her??", she asked with a tone laced with anger. Again no reply.
She then scanned everybody standing there. All of them were looking at Mo Jia but when their eyes met Lu Chang Chang's, they would look down. It was easy to guess who the culprit was.
Pa.
A strong slap landed on the cheek of Mo Jia's handmaid. The maid fell to the floor due to the force with which she was hit.
Every single maid's head snapped up in shock. They thought she slapped Mo Jia, but then they saw the red mark on her handmaid's cheek and realized it was not Mo Jia but her maid who got hit.
But it was not a normal slap. Unlike Mo Jia who was a delicate flower, Lu Chang Chang was strong and agile. Her slap had so much force that the maid fell down, her cheek turned red instantly and there was a bit of blood near her lip.
Mo Jia felt as if she was slapped. She could feel her cheek burn just by listening to the sound. Then how much would that slap have actually hurt??.... She didn't even want to imagine it.
" Nobody has the right to raise their hand against my handmaid.", Lu Chang Chang said in a cold and assertive tone.
" And Miss Mo. That slap was meant for you. The only reason you didn't get it is because you are a distant relative of my husband. But if you plan to pull such a stunt again, then I will forget that.
Remember that you are a guest here. You have to follow the rules of this palace if you want to stay here. If you can't, then you are free to leave.
And if any servant causes a problem, you will have to tell it to us first before you take any action. If they are found guilty, they will receive their punishment accordingly.
You have no right whatsoever to raise your hand against somebody just because they are of a lower rank than yourself.
I have been told that you have been picking fights the past few days that you were here. If you have a lot of free time, then I would suggest you to read books and make yourself knowledgeable than wasting it picking meaningless fights.
I am a person with pretty good patience. Just because I didn't tell anything the past few days, it doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want.
I am not a person you want make angry. So I hope you will keep this in your mind and control your actions from today…"
After saying this she turned to Chu Chu." Fetch the physician.", she told Liu Chen before crouching beside Chu Chu.
She slowly helped her up. Her hand went to Chu Chu's cheek that was slapped and gently caressed it. Chu Chu slightly winced in pain. Lu Chang Chang felt her heart clench.
" Ssshh… It's okay… You will be alright soon…", she said softly.
She then turned to the other maids standing around and asked," If you guys don't speak up for each other then who is going to??"
The servants looked down in embarrassment. Lu Chang Chang looked at their lowered heads and sighed.
" You might be lower in societal ranks but that doesn't give anybody the right to treat like you are not human…
I am not asking you to disobey your masters. All I am asking is to stand up for each other when you are treated unfairly…
You have the right to speak for yourself or your colleagues if you are being mistreated…. I may not always be there to protect you.."
Every maid was looking at Lu Chang Chang in admiration. No one would stand up for their servants and take care of them like this.
Some maids rushed towards her and supported Chu Chu and took her to their quarters.
