Chapter 1: Prologue, The Beginning
"There are three realms that make up the universe. The Underworld, Earth Realm, and the Heavenly Empyrean. All cultivators and martial artist wish to make their way towards the Empyrean. Yet not everyone can reach towards this level of ascension, for the journey of ascending to the highest of heavens can be unforgiving, cruel, and filled with numerous ordeals.
Earth Realm is between the Underworld and the Heavenly Empyrean. It was once a battleground to wage wars between the Underworld and the Heavenly Empyrean, but after one hundred millenniums, the passing of the Holy Doctrine was issued to cease further conflict. The Holy Doctrine, created by the Great Sage, stated the battle would come to an end and the opposing sides would go back and reside in their respected realms.
The aftermath of the war caused the land to expand and grow more than ever throughout the continents due to the seemingly endless battle. The unrecovered corpses from the war slowly dissolved and seeped into the skies, mountains, and land, giving every living thing around an abundance of strong and pure Ki. The overflowing Ki within Earth Realm soon launched many civilizations into what would soon to be called the Golden Age.
Many techniques, manuscripts, scriptures, art, and music flourished across the civilizations, as well the high rise of many peerless talents and high level cultivators came from the Golden Age. Five-thousand years have passed since then and the forgotten relics and treasures left behind from that period still remain uncovered and slowly waiting to be found.
The Underworld, a place inhabited by all forms of ancient and dark evils. It is a chaotic realm that is endless and has yet to be fully explored due to its dangerous terrain, deadly spirit beasts, and demons. The sky is always crimson, it is a place where only the strong survive. Such a savage place, if one were to enter, they would soon die.
The Heavenly Empyrean can be separated into seven distinct levels. The first four layers are known as The Outer Heavens. The fifth to sixth layers are called Inner Heaven. Lastly, the final and seventh layer is known as The Summit.
There has been no written text or records that describe the seventh layer, for too much about it is still unknown. Its name was given by the spectators who saw many immortals and cultivators that tried venturing into finding the seventh layer but never returned. Their disappearance remains a continuous mystery. The name also suggests that you'll only know what is at the peak only once you have reached there.
Some say it's a gateway to the apex of cultivation, while others say it leads to an existential plane beyond our comprehension. Nonetheless the Heavenly Empyrean is a land filled with lush, unending beautiful lands where the skies and the stars universally meet. Those who reach and enter the Heavenly Empyrean are bound to find fame, riches, and power..." a book shuts loudly.
"...You will need the very basic knowledge of this world to survive." a clear, rich voice suddenly rang. "I'll shall wait for you here, until your arrival."
A figure began to finally appear from a dark black mist.
It was a tall man that had a lean body with long but roughly well kept ashen hair, along with a set of deep yellow eyes. It was as if they were akin to the dragons, glowing intensely and were ferocious. He held a jade fan and his attire seems to be made from only the most priceless and hard sought materials, customized into a leisurely but protective design.
His robe which was old, used, and seen better days. The mysterious man then closed his fan and a bright light began to surface. My eyes slowly opened and before me I saw the same ceiling I have seen ever since I was a child.
"So it was just a dream." As I closed my eyes again to sleep through the afternoon.
