Chapter 29: 29- A Shadow From The Past.
After dodging the kicks that Rumi threw at him, Ryuuto countered by sending what he considered a slow lunch towards Rumi, even though to Ryuuto it appeared slow to most people his lunch would seem extremely fast but Mirko wasn't most people do with a little bit of effort she was able to avoid the punch while sending a kick towards Ryuuto's face.
Seeing her kick coming towards his direction he just brought his right arm up and blocked it, in doing so Ryuuto was sent sliding on the ground for 5 meters since Rumi had already started to get more serious.
"My turn."
As Ryuuto said that Rumi saw him suddenly appear in front of her almost as if he had teleported.
'Fast!'
Ryuuto sent a punch towards Rumi's head that she was able to avoid by a hair's breadth while trying to kick Ryuuto's chin, unfortunately for her Ryuuto was able to dodge get attack and swept the only leg she had on the ground while aiming a punch to get stomach that was able to hit her.
As the punch struck her Mirko felt all the air in her lungs escape but thanks to her vast experience she was able to rapidly recover while also jumping high in the air.
"Luna Fall!"
As she was swinging her go foot to drive Ryuuto into the ground he actually caught it and used her own momentum to swing her against a tree but she was able to rotate while I'm air and landed on the tree with her foot and launched herself against Ryuuto one more time.
"Luna Ring!"
Seeing Rumi spin in the air with her legs extended Ryuuto just dodged her attack and as soon as she landed on the ground, even before she could turn around, Ryuuto was already sending a kick towards her back but just before he could hit her Ryuuto saw a shadow move on his peripheral vision and because of this distraction he was actually hit in the face by Rumi's punch.
"Oi kid! What the hell are you thinking?! Focus on our battle!"
'What was that? I'm sure something moved, could it have been an hallucination?'
Just as Ryuuto was about to ignore what happened both him and Runny heard a whisper in what Ryuuto recognized as Orokins language.
"I know your every move, Tenno, there's no place to hide."
"Kid? What kind of language is that?"
While Rumi thought it was Ryuuto that was whispering he finally understood who that shadow he saw move was.
"Sorry Rumi but I'll have to end this here, there's something really important that could be happening now and I need to make a call."
"You think I'll let you go? This is the best battle I've had in a while!"
Before Rumi could say anything else she saw Ryuuto once again already in front of her but this time she couldn't avoid the punch he sent her way, just before falling unconscious Rumi realized something.
'This bastard... He was holding back all this time and I couldn't even put a scratch on him...'
While carrying Rumi by dragging her feet Ryuuto sent a message to Rias in their private chat.
<The Last Tenno (Admin): Rias, if you or Ning Er see this guy anywhere, send me your location and run away! Don't try to fight him! No matter what happens! Do you understand?>
<The Last Tenno (Admin):has sent a photo.>
<Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess: What's wrong Darling? You're freaking out.>
<The Last Tenno (Admin): I didn't think he still exist... Promise me you and Ning Er will run away if you see him.>
<Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess: I promise Darling but who are you talking about?>
<The Last Tenno (Admin): Someone my people called Shadow Stalker, we don't know much about him since he rarely speaks more than one sentence. The most he ever told us is this: 'Some have walked these desolate worlds while you have slept. Some like me. I remember what you did. I remember the day.
The Tenno appeared at the Terminus, gleaming and victorious. Our cold and gold Emperors, breathless, bathed you in savior's silk. Then came the sound. Across all our worlds, all at once, the ceremonial Naga drums. A royal salute to the honored Tenno. Ten solemn beats to declare the suffering was over. I watched from a distance, with the rest of the low Guardians. With each beat terror began to crush my throat. The Tenno were not stoic and silent. They were waiting. They were poised. I tried to call out but only a strangled whisper escaped.
When the ninth beat rang a torrent of blood filled the stadium, loosed by Tenno blades. The drums, the Empire, fell silent forever.
Now I hunt, dividing your numbers. Watching from that dark place, cataloging your sins, I am the ghost of retribution. You may forget but you are not innocent.'
I gotta go now, love you.>
<Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess: I love you too Darling, stay safe!>
Even though Ryuuto knew that the Darker wouldn't normally target someone that isn't a Tenno, Rias had his mark on her chest and the last thing he wanted was to see her dead.
While he chatted with Rias, Ryuuto had reached Rumi's house and after leaving a still unconscious Rumi on the couch he went to get fridge to look for something to drink, finding a bottle of beer he opened it and started drinking.
"Aren't you a little too young to drink?"
Rumi, who had just woke up, asked Ryuuto, even if she didn't really care if Ryuuto drunk sometime she wouldn't let Ryuuto get drunk under her supervision, otherwise he wouldn't be able to fight her at his maximu max.
"You would be drinking too of your loved ones were constantly at dusk of dying."
Saying that without even looking at her Ryuuto took another gulp of beer.
"Then why don't you protect them? You're pretty strong since you could keep up with me."
"Keep up? Please, I beat your ass. And that would just put them in even more danger."
"Who are we even talking about?"
"My wife."
"Is she strong? Do you trust her?"
Even though Rumi was slightly shocked to hear that Ryuuto was already married at his age she didn't really care about it.
"Yes."
"Then why are you worrying? If she's strong as you say she should be able to take care of herself until you can help her."
Listening to Rumi Ryuuto wanted to facepalm himself for his stupidity.
'Rumi's right, Did can take care of herself and with how much the stalker speaks before attacking she should be able to contact me.'
"Thanks Rumi, I needed that."
"If you want to thank me then let's go spar once more kid!"
"Shouldn't you be teaching me how to do a hero job?"
"Fuck that! You're probably the strongest guy I every faced so there's no way I'll waste time with that! At least for today we'll just spar, tomorrow we'll see."
"Fucking battle maniac..."
After murmuring that Ryuuto followed Rumi back to the forest and once again they started sparring, needless to say Ryuuto won every time.
Just before his first day of internships ended Ryuuto remembered about his idea of adding Rumi to Rias' peerage.
"Hey Rumi?"
"You're still here kiddo?"
"I may have something that would let you get stronger and fight stronger people but-"
Before Ryuuto could finish Rumi interrupted him and had basically jumped on him.
"Deal! What is it?!"
"I'll tell you about it tomorrow since it also concern my wife."
While Rumi groaned that she would have to wait Ryuuto started going back his house since it was almost dinner time.
Once home, after greeting Ning Er, getting a kiss from Rias and hugging little Eri, while eating dinner Ryuuto chatted with Rias about his idea.
"So how did it go Darling?"
"Everything went well, we just mostly spared since she's a battle junky, but it seems she could become a Rook for your peerage, you just need to come with me tomorrow so you two can meet and talk about it."
"Thank you Darling, I don't know what I'd do without you."
The next day soon arrived and Rias and Ryuuto were almost at Rumi's house.
"What kind of person is she Darling?"
"You'll see."
As soon as he finished saying that Ryuuto had to block a kick sent by Rumi while slamming her towards the ground.
"You're finally here Ryuuto! Now let's spar!"
"She really is a battle maniac..."
"I told you so and Rumi, this is my wife, the one that could make you stronger."
"Nice to meet you, my name is Rias Gremory."
"Rumi Usagiyama. Now! What exactly is Ryuuto talking about?"
"You see Rumi-san, I'm not a human like you, I'm a devil and we devil have something called Evil Pieces that can reincarnate humans like you into devils. This, depending on which piece is used, will let you obtain various levels of strengthening, for example the Rook piece, the one I'll use on you if you choose to accept, will mostly increase your body's strength and durability but in your case will also allow you to unlock mana."
Saying that Rias took out her only remaining Rook and showed it to Rumi.
"Do if I decide to accept this thing will make me stronger?"
"Yes."
"Let's do this!"
Grinning Rumi slammed her hands on the table while accepting Rias proposal.
"One last thing, there will be times in which you'll have to listen to my orders."
Hearing Rias, Rumi frowned for a moment before regaining her smirk.
"Fight me, If I win you'll give me that piece and I won't have to listen to you, if you win then I'll do as you say."
"I accept."
Going outside to not destroy the house Rumi and Rias put 10 meters between them.
"Are ready? I won't go easy on you!"
Instead of answering Rias made the Boosted Gear appear on her left arm and soon Rumi heard a voice coming from it.
"WELSH DRAGON BALANCE BREAKER: SCALE MAIL!"
