Chapter 4: Voice of the World

My eyes widened slightly as I heard the voice followed by a soothing feeling spreading throughout my body. The old man nodded his head and said "You most likely heard the Voice of the World just now. You will hear that voice when you get a Skill, when the world changes, or when something evolves." I nodded my head as I began to memorize the voice so I wouldn't forget it and panic when it speaks to me again.

"Now, I'll begin to teach you how to use Skills." The old man lifted his finger into the air and a small cyclone of air appeared above it. "Now, this is a Skill called 'Cyclone.' It allows me to create a vortex of wind as big or as small as I want. It can be used for something an menial as cleaning the floor, or something as big as tearing through an army of armored knights."

I put my chin in my palm as I nodded my head and waited for him to continue. "Now, usually, all you have to do is think about using the Skill you want to use and envision how you want it to appear." I nodded my head once more and closed my eyes as I thought 'Hell, I don't even know what Skills I do and don't have...'

[Confirmed. Do you wish to preview your Skills?]

I raised my brow at the voice appearing once more so soon, but immediately said "Yes."

---

[Curse] - User is marked by a Curse that they can draw power from, however, depending on the Demon's whims, the user may be harmed during activation.

[Pathfinder] - Activates when user thinks of a destination that they wish to go to, either unexplored or explored.

[Demonic Vitality] - Due to the Demon's blood flowing through your veins, courtesy of your curse, you have the vitality of a Demon, making it considerably difficult to kill you. Wounds may regenerate faster than normal if you have the required amount of Mana.

[Demonic Aura] - Sends a powerful aura out that has the chance to stun, apply a Curse, or even kill enemies weaker than yourself.

I listened the to voice's explanation of the Skills that I currently have and, quite frankly, I was rather pleased. I realized that it must've been the Pathfinder Skill that led me to the Ogre village. My interest, however, was the Demonic Aura Skill. It sounded pretty damn useful so, after a few seconds of debating, I decided to try it out.

I imagined a black-red aura sticking closely to my body, almost like a barrier. I then willed the Skill to activate, causing a black-red aura to stick to my skin. I did this to prevent it from doing the stun or curse thing, but it didn't work.

I opened my eyes and saw the old man's mouth open wide while the red-haired Ogre woman at our side was shaking slightly while fumbling for her weapon. I willed the Skill to stop and the aura surround me disappeared. I laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of my head, hoping that I didn't just blow my chances at having a friendly relationship with the Ogres.

The old man suddenly jumped up and grabbed my shoulders with an amazed look as he asked "How did you do that!? I've used the Demonic Aura Skill for almost my entire life and it is no where near the level of yours!" I was surprised by his sudden contact, but I recovered and said "I don't know. I just envisioned a black-red aura surrounding my body and then willed the Skill to activate..."

The old man's eyes opened wide as he stuttered "Y-You can...see auras...?" I cocked my head in confusion as I hesitantly said "Yes...? Why, is that a bad thing?" The old man shook his head furiously and said "No, no! Quite the opposite! Only the most skilled warriors can see auras, and some say that only the Gods can read them...!"

[Confirmed. Aura Sense acquisition confirmed.]

Suddenly, it was like the world bust alive as a large black flame sprouted from the old man's body, while a small violet flame lingered around the woman's body. She suddenly blushed and turned away while covering her chest, making the old man laugh and causing me to rub my forehead and say "Don't misunderstand. I was looking at your aura..."

The old man's eyes lit up once more as he asked "What about mine, young warrior? What does it look like?" I looked back at him and said "It's like a large, black inferno that almost touches the ceiling...it leaves a sense of dread and a promise of death if provoked, ahaha."

The old man looked pleased as he nodded his head and said "Now, I have a question for you. Are you an Otherworlder?" I knit my brows and muttered "I honestly don't know. If there exists things that I haven't heard of, seen, or done, and if you haven't heard of my home continent, then I might just be in a different world..."

The old man stroked his clean shaven chin and said "Then you must not let any of the Human nations know of this, especially Falmuth. They will try and enslave you to use you for their own gains," I shivered at the thought of being someone's puppet. I hated being ordered around, forced to do things against my will, and I hated anyone who kept slaves.

The old man pat my shoulder and said "I think it is time for you to go back home and get some rest. It's late." I stood up and shook his hand before thanking him and walking out of his house and sliding the door shut behind me. I walked down the street to my house and saw the auras of every Ogre in the village, most of them like the woman's earlier. Small flames that barely covered their bodies.

I was greeted by many people and was stopped to converse about multiple topics, mostly men asking me on tips to improve their skills. Every know and then, a female ogre would gather their courage and talk to me before walking away shortly after. I was thankful that I was rather fond of talking to people, or else this situation would've been more awkward than it should have.

I eventually reached my house an hour later and entered through the front door before taking my shoes off. I stepped into the living room and almost jumped out of my skin when I saw the red-haired Ogre woman leaning against the wall next to the entrance. I took a deep breath and said "Don't just pop up out of no where! Almost scared me to death..."

Of course I was putting on an act since I could see her aura, but I didn't want to make it awkward. She raised a brow and said "I know you saw me with that aura reading ability of yours, so drop the act." A wry smile spread across my face as I said "Alright fine. What're you doing here anyways?"

She rolled her eyes before crossing her arms over her chest and staring at the ground before muttering "My stupid grandfather thought that it would be a good idea to get me to stay here with you so I could take care of you..."

Now it was my turn to raise a brow as I asked "Grandfather? You don't mean..." She looked at me and squinted her eyes as she said "Yes, that old man is my grandfather!" in an impatient voice. I shrugged my shoulders and turned toward the kitchen area to see if I could find anything to eat. I was starving.

I saw a plethora of meats and vegetables, making my stomach growl as I took Onimaru from my belt and began to carve up the meat. The red-haired woman was watching me with interest as I lit a fire and put the meat on a spit and spun it around. In around thirty minutes, there were large slabs of meat, which were perfectly roasted, with sides of various vegetables that I didn't recognize.

I passed a plate over to the woman, who sniffed it curiously, before putting my hands up in a praying gesture and thanking the animals for giving their lives to sustain my body. I had picked up this habit from Shino, and it had stuck with me ever since. The woman looked at me with an intrigued expression before copying me.

I looked over and grabbed her hands to adjust her gesture as I said "If you want to do it, make sure to do it right. It was something I had learned from my friend, and I want to honor it. If you want to do it, then make sure that you honor it as well." The woman looked at me and asked "Where is your friend now?"

I opened my mouth and closed it before saying "He's dead..." in a low voice. There was silence for a while until she said "I'm sorry, I didn't kn-" I waved my hands with a smile and said "Don't worry about it. I'm more than happy to pass on the things I learned from him. It will help spread his legacy."

I began to eat my food with a pleased expression as the flavorful meat filled my taste buds with joy. I saw the woman happily eating her food without a care in the world for manners. It was a rather refreshing sight compared to the Nobles who always had wooden planks up their asses.

I finished eating and felt tired and heavy eyed, so I put my plate up and turned my head to the woman and said "I'm going to bed. I'll see you in the morning." while walking toward the stairs and up to my room. I entered the large room and saw a big wardrobe on the back wall next to the bed, a standing mirror next to the door, and a single window in front of the bed looking out over the village.

I walked over to the bed and fell down face first. The bed was soft and springy and felt like it was made specifically for me. I didn't even bother taking my gauntlets of boots off as I slowly drifted into a nice, deep sleep.

[Warning. A Demon Lord has been born. Continuing...A True Dragon has been born, along with the fourth Cursed weapon user.]
