Chapter 4: The Hunt for safety
The whole assembly was in uproar,the prince didn't react,rather he signaled to two of his men,who left briskly,the entire barbarians were not happy,how could their princess sacrifice herself for a useless human,who faced no chance against the harsh world,the prince had never gone back on his world,and this was a precaurious situation,they were sure that,if the princess left with this societal trash and Alex,she would die,the noise stopped when the dogs appeared,two dogs were brought in by the guards the prince had sent earlier,they were given to Alex,every other person could see that the dogs provided were the weakest,Alex walked over to the dogs and looked tenderly on them,the dogs responded with barks, Alex took more steps forward,"aren't they beautiful?"he asked no one in particular, everyone could feel their breath seizing,they were waiting for the dogs to tear Alex to pieces,as Alex reduced the distance between them,the dogs barks increased in intensity,and they broke out of their chains,on reaching Alex they licked his foot and squatted gazing affectionately at him,the prince was dumbfounded,Re thought she was dreaming,and the members of the assembly were flabbergasted,this was the first time,the dogs showed such affection, their respect for Alex grew,he was oblivious to the atmosphere around him,the dogs are very beautiful,he took them and walked to Re,then he decided to name them, when he told Re of his plan to name the dogs,she nodded and called one,the brown female,with grey tail, bending on one knee,she touched her ear and named her Alex,Alex was dumbfounded,"Sorry, it's the only name,I can think of now,so what do you have to say? do you like it?she asked,Alex just looked at her,a smirk forming on his lips,he took the other male dog,and called it Re,the smile on Re's face was almost infecting,one could tell from her countenance,that she was in a moment of ecstasy,they looked at the drunkards,who smiled showing off their bad and poorly managed tooth,the voice of the prince interrupted the smile competition going between the new band.
"You are to take them,and if you survive for six months,you can come back and take over the throne"
***On leaving the boundary of the barbarian community,they stepped into the huge ice forest, for 5 days,they survived by fruits and bush meats they got,at night,they rested together,giving off heat,to each other,the dogs were treated like human,as they slept amongst them,the drunkards didn't seem to mind,on the sixth day,they decided to rest after trekking for some kilometers,the five drunkards,cut trees with their hands and made them into logs,a fire was made immediately,you might wonder how they obtained fire,in this freezing forest,it was popular knowledge amongst the barbarians,that some of them,had powers that gave them control over the elements (fire,water,air,earth and forest)once someone's element was found,he or she is recruited into the royal army,the females serve as scouts,while the male,become body guards and war men,under royal service they were given training on how to control their various elements with ease,now one of the drunkards element was fire,he just flipped his fingers and fire was ignited,two of them controlled the earth,one was at the top tier,as most of this elements have top tier and the low tier,and the middle tier,the top tier,were the pure blood,their parent's were pure breeds and had the same elements,their control is higher than those in the middle tier whose parent's had complete control over two elements,one of the elements lies dormant,and the other one is the main element of the owner,but the dormant one could manifest after years of practice and hard work,while the low tier had both parents as half bloods,this means they were products of a pure blood and a half blood,after this explanation,Alex had a better idea of the system of the barbarians,the strongest were those with expertise in one or two elements,no one had surpassed the number three,for a person to break through,to the three star level he or she had to pass a deep emotional situation,it is only during this emotional collapse does the body accept another element,the strongest barbarian was the prince,it was rumoured that he sold his emotions to reach the third star stage,and was now in peak 3star,and would be forever stuck at this point forever,because his emotions had passed their level,all other strong existences were under him....
**Alex was trying to comprehend the world he wanted to rule,to this point he didn't know the name of his companions,apart from Re, despite the cold,he told them to introduce themselves and their respective elements,it was obvious that the reason they didn't work on their element was because they hated the army and royalty.The tall lone drunk who never made a statement with more than three words,took a step to the middle of the fire "I am xhou my element is water,am at peak 1star, saying this he made a demonstration, closing his eyes and inhaling closely,he took both his hands and rubbed them slowly,then he pointed at Alex who was almost frozen due to the cold,since he didn't have tough skins like the barbarians,at this point,Alex felt something leaving his body,droplets of water flew through the air,and landed in front of xhou who picked them up and compressed them to a ball like crystal,Alex clapped and cheered him and for the first time xhou smiled,"shhhh,we are under attack" breeze flew and the fire was extinguished,the footsteps and dog growls were getting closer..
