Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Stresses
Chapter Start!
Rushing to the courtyard, Liam, whose room is on the second floor of the mansion taps his feet quickly down the stairs.
He makes it down the staircase without tripping. Turning at every corner in a rush. Dashing past guards and maids, Liam is a sight to see. He finally reaches an exit and dashes through it. He only then stops as he has reached his destination, Phoebe.
"I hope you weren't here for too long.." Liam says in a panting breath.
"That's not important master Liam, did you run all the way here? You seem very exhausted..." Phoebe says with concern.
"Oh, it's nothing, I need the exercise anyway," Liam responds with a smile.
"Then um, why did you ask me here, master Liam?" Phoebe asks.
"Well it's because I would like to ask you a few questions," Liam responds.
At that moment Liam hears some loud footsteps nearing him. He turns over to see who it could be.
"Liam, it's pleasant to see you, I've been looking for you." A blonde boy with turquoise eyes says approaching Liam.
I think I know who this is. He was described to have golden hair, turquoise eyes, and be beautiful in the novel. He must be... the prince! Prince Sebastian Ferris Tivoli! But then who's that next to him?
A silver-haired, black-eyed boy stood beside the prince. He was staring at Liam.
Liam notices the staring and averts his eyes quickly.
I think I saw a hint of blue in those deep black eyes, he's really attractive as well. Wait- could he be... Klaus Reed!? The prince's guard? Jeez, if I knew the prince and guard were gonna be this attractive in real life I would've chosen them over Liam any day~ But Liam's still my favorite personality-wise!
"Liam?" The prince says.
"Ah yes? You said you were looking for me right? What do you need, ...your highness?" Liam asks the prince.
Phew~ I almost didn't add that "your highness".
"Oh, I was looking for my sister. You haven't seen her, have you?" The Prince inquires.
Hmmm... just what kind of situation is this though? Wait a minute, I think I know what is going on! Princess Charlotte, she had a crush on Liam! Wait how did I not notice earlier!? That noble girl... Charlotte must've been wearing a wig to conceal her golden hair! I guess I was too embarrassed whenever I ran into her to notice.
Hiding behind some pillars near the hallway to the courtyard is Princess Charlotte. She has been observing Liam's every action with care. Charlotte noticed her brother's conversation with Liam and decides to take the wig off and heads towards the group.
"Excuse me, but I'm right here..." Charlotte mumbles as she approaches her brother.
"There you are Charlotte! I was wondering where you were. I know you like Lord Liam but you need to refrain from watching him all the time." The prince tells his sister, smiling.
All the time!? I knew in the novel they described Charlotte as having a small crush on Liam but... To think she's a stalker! She has been here all day! Not to mention approaching me at my most embarrassing moments! This is not ok. Sigh~
"I'm sorry, I will go home now..." Princess Charlotte sighs and looks at the ground.
"Father was worried about you!" The prince shouts at his sister. He looks at her and realizes she's scared and tones down. "Just don't do it again."
"I'll try..." Princess Charlotte sneaks a glance at Liam.
"You'll try? ...I suppose that's better than nothing." The prince brings his palm to his face.
"So we'll be leaving then, farewell Liam, until next time." The prince begins to leave.
"Wait! I have something to ask of you!" Liam grabs the prince's wrist.
The prince pauses, confused. The prince's guard notices the urgency in Liam's face. He turns to the prince and nods.
"You wouldn't normally ask anything of me. I am surprised at this. Just what is so important?" The prince looks Liam straight in the eye.
Liam releases the prince's wrist from his grip.
"I need... a favor, a big one. Right now it would inconvenient to say it because of the number of people here. But I'm hoping I can meet you later." Liam answers.
"Later? Hmm... I will meet you in three days then." The prince turns around and begins walking to the gate of the mansion.
The guard and Princess Charlotte follow quickly behind the prince.
"I'm sorry, Phoebe you had to stand there while all of that was going on." Liam rubs the back of his neck and sighs.
"I am fine master Liam. You said you had a question for me?" Phoebe asks.
"Oh, that? You wouldn't happen to know why your here right?" Liam's face is serious all of the sudden.
Liam's eyes pierced Phoebes. She froze for a second but regained her consciousness.
"I'm here because I spilled all your wine barrels. Your family needed them for an important banquet... I don't have the money to pay for the wine so I'm here as a maid. I'm sorry if I did something wrong, master Liam." Phoebe nervously rushes her words.
So she is the real Phoebe. I was a bit suspicious of Phoebe being the killer but her story is all clear.
"There no need to apologize. It's very late now so let's go get some rest." Liam's serious face is now a smiling one.
"Uh, then good night master." Phoebe watches as Liam turns and makes his way into the mansion.
"Master Liam almost seems like a whole different person. It's like that icy cold aura has melted. He feels warm now, like the sun on a cool summer day." Phoebe heads off to the maid's quarters.
Liam plops onto the bed in his room. The orb glows red this time. Liam looks at it hoping it's nothing bad and starts to think of a different, larger issue.
I guess I really can't assume just anyone is my killer. I was suspicious of Phoebe but her bright personality, as described in the novel, is just relaxed around Liam here. I doubt it's the prince too. Just who is the killer!?
The thoughts of Liam fade as his eyes grow heavy in bed. He begins to enjoy the first rest after an eventful day.
