Chapter 44: B-rank Mission
It was soon the next day and Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi were in front of Jiraiya ready for the mission details. "You are being assigned a B-rank mission, we have received some intelligence that the land of rivers might meet a spy from our village, you are doing border patrol to ensure they don't sneak in."
The instructions were clear if the land of rivers shinobi do show up, eliminate them. Everyone on team seven nodded and left for the land of fire border. Jiraiya then looked at his paperwork, he didn't know how Minato did it.
Jiraiya then turned to Tsunade, "You can do my paperwork while I go get some research for my next novel." Jiraiya was the Hokage, he didn't wait for her answer. When he walked outside he heard screaming, "Damn you Jiraiya!"
Before leaving Naruto sent clones on all sides to run ahead of them, he didn't want to be caught by surprise. It would take around a day or so before they reached the border so Naruto made sure to pack everything needed.
As team 7 was jumping through the trees he gave the orders on what exactly to do, "We will be stopping at the outpost around halfway to the border, let's hope we make it there." Kakashi then remembered his first jonin mission, even if Naruto wasn't a full jonin yet it would still be a good experience.
"Also after we stop at the outpost Naruto will take control of the mission," all of team 7 was shocked, "Why?" they all asked, "The main reason Naruto was not promoted to jonin was because of his lack of experience, this will help change that." Naruto nodded and began thinking of what he should do.
Kakashi and team 7 took breaks on the way, Sasuke and Sakura usually trained in ninjutsu and genjutsu, Naruto worked on taijutsu with his chakra blades, the main reason was that he had been training his Rasengan a lot and wanted his taijutsu skills to keep up with his ninjutsu skills.
After traveling for most of the day they finally reached the outpost. One of the guards stepped up, "Names, ranks, and reason for being here." Kakashi then stepped forward, "My name is Kakashi Hatake, these are my students, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno are chunin and Naruto Uzumaki is a special jonin. We are here on a B-rank mission, we are only stopping for the night"
The guard wrote everything down on a sheet of paper then let them in, "With how late it is there won't be much food." they all nodded and continued in, he was right almost all the food was gone. Naruto, Kakashi, and Sasuke brought their own food but Sakura was out of luck.
"Here," Sasuke handed her some food. "Thanks, Sasuke, you're so cool!" Sasuke hated her fangirl attitude and knew this would happen but it was better than her being hungry and complaining. Plus he didn't dare look down on a B-rank mission.
The beds at the outpost were hard and wet, however the hell that was possible. Overall the outpost sucked in general but it was probably better for the people who stayed longer. The next day soon arrived and Naruto was now in charge of the mission, of course, Kakashi could still overrule him if needed.
Naruto looked at the map and read the mission details again, they had to stay there for five days, if they didn't show up by then they could return and another group would come. Theme 7 headed out again. Naruto and the rest just continued heading to the border, taking fewer breaks as they had a time limit this time.
It took them less time to reach the border because they took fewer breaks. After reaching the border Naruto gave his first instructions, "we will all have sleeping shifts, some will keep watch and some will sleep. Sakura, you cast a genjutsu over the area so we stay hidden." Sakura then cast a simple but effective hiding genjutsu.
It was already night time so all of them but Naruto went to sleep, at the end of his shift Sasuke showed up. "Hey Sasuke, your turn now." Naruto was about to leave but Sasuke stopped him, "I created a new jutsu, I want to test it." Naruto nodded and they walked a little away from the border, not too far but a good distance.
"Ok, show me this jutsu." Sasuke then created a Chidori and pointed his hand out. Suddenly the Chidori stretched and turned as long as a spear, "Chidori spear!" the jutsu cut many trees in half making them crash down, Naruto was impressed with the power, maybe he could do something like that with the rasengan.
Naruto gave his opinion on it then left back to the base to get some sleep. The first night nothing happened, team 7 hoped it stayed like that the entire time. Naruto was bored so he body flickered to Kakashi, he was getting quite good at that technique. Kakashi had to complement how fast he was getting, "You're probably the fastest I've seen at that since Shisui."
Naruto knew who Shisui was, he was so fast that he was known as 'Shisui of Body flicker' if he could reach that speed it would definitely be useful. "Kakashi, can we have a taijutsu spar, I'm bored."
"Go spar with Sasuke." Sasuke isn't nearly as good at taijutsu as you or I are. Kakashi then closed his book, "Well I guess you are team captain, let's not get too out of hand though." Naruto nodded, he didn't want to do too much or they would be weaker once attacked.
Naruto and Kakashi lined up not too far from each other. Once Kakashi began the fight Naruto ran at him, he would use his chakra blades as he didn't want to cause any serious injury by accident.
Naruto and Kakashi were throwing fast punches and kicks that they could both barely react to. Naruto was actually faster than Kakashi, but Kakashi's body was stronger than Naruto's after years and years of harsh training.
Naruto threw a punch which Kakashi caught, he then picked up Naruto and swung him around a few times before throwing him. Even if Kakashi was not the strongest person, he was certainly better than Naruto.
Naruto used a good combo of kicks and punches to finally get a good blow on Kakashi, after landing the hit he wrapped himself around Kakashi and attempted to flip him but his body wouldn't move. "Very good Naruto, but you aren't at a level of beating me yet."
Kakashi then easily got Naruto off of him and in a position for an easy theoretical kill. Naruto had his fun for today so he left Kakashi to catch up on his reading. The rate at which Jiraiya could make novels was frightening. Their second and third days passed, again boring as ever.

If you think about it Kishimoto seriously nerfed Madara. Like Madara has all 7 natures, perfect Susanoo, all Rinnegan abilities, I believe wood style, plus his brain which is as smart as people like Tobirama. He should have had no problems beating Naruto and Sasuke.
Anyway enough of that, this will be the last chapter until I guess probably Monday but maybe Sunday. There will also be fewer chapters because of school.
