Chapter 2: Rebirth/Confusion
I wake up in a daze to a clamor of chatter in the background. I open my eyes to see that I'm in a place that resembles a hospital. I realize that I've just been reborn. Morgan had said that I'd wake up when my system adapts to my soul. I assumed I would gain consciousness when I'm in the womb. Something seems off here. The people around me are speaking in some other language. Now that I listen closely it resembles Japanese. That is weird, if anything it should be Chinese that they are speaking since ATG is a wuxia novel. Oh well, who am I to judge. I look around and i notice that the doctor and the nurses seem to be in a panic. This does not bode well for my mother from this life.
"Let me hold him please." Says the mother.
A nurse hands me over to the lady lying in bed. She seems awfully pale. She holds me as gently as she could and kisses me on the forehead. "I'm sorry Little Rai, mother cannot be with you but know that I will always love you." she says.
I don't exactly know what she said to me but the meaning seems clear enough. I do not know a thing about her but something inside me is making me grieve for her. I burst out crying uncontrollably.
She hands me over to the nearest nurse and says "Please inform A about the birth of his son Rai." The people nearby seem shocked by her statement. But seeing her pale visage, they agreed and someone quickly left to inform said person. It did not take long before a muscular tan skinned man with tattoos on his arms barged into the room in a panic.
"Why didn't you tell me he was my son, Yui?" A screams at the woman.
"I didn't plan on keeping this from you, but since we're almost at war I didn't want to distract you from your duties towards the village. Sorry. But please promise me that you'll take care of Rai." Yui pleads
A can still be seen huffing trying to keep down his rage for being kept in the dark. Rai is a result of a drunken night that he shared with Yui. He did not hold any romantic feelings towards her but did not like this feeling of suddenly being told that he is a father. He has a complex feeling looking at her on her death bed. He has seen many of his comrades and friends fall before and now even the mother of his child is dying. Yui is one of the best Iryonin's in all of Kumo and her death is also a big loss towards the militaristic might of the village. But he finally accepts the situation and says "I will give him the best that Kumo can offer. I am his father and as the next Raikage, I will ensure that he grows up with love and affection. This I promise to you."
"Thank You" Yui says with tears in her eyes and after looking towards where Rai is, she finally drifts into an eternal sleep.
"Give him to me" says A. He gets a good look at the child and sees a healthy fair skinned child just like his mother but with pale blonde hair like his own. One look at the boy and he knows that this child is his own.
Rai POV
I can hear angry screaming and crying in the background and am trying to make sense of what is happening. Then I am handed over to big muscular man, I look up at the man and he seems to be familiar to me. But I just can't seem to remember where I've seen this face before. He takes me out of the room and hands me over to someone else to take care of me.
"Take him to my house, I need to speak with the Raikage about this situation. After all Rai is his grandson." – A
Wait did I just hear him say Raikage? And now that I think about it, I finally remember that he looks like the younger version of the Fourth Raikage from Naruto Shippuden. Crap. Wasn't I supposed to be reborn in ATG verse, how the hell did I end up here in the shinobi world. Is this why I haven't received the system yet. Morgan clearly said that he'll be giving me an ATG system. Now will that system even work here or will I get it at all. Noooo! Fuck you Morgan. Omnipotent being my ass. How could you mess this up? Is this another prank? If it is, this is not funny. This place isn't much better than ATG when it comes to chances of dying and I might not even get the system. This is seriously bad.
I calm down as much as I can. Now I have to weigh my options of what I can do to ensure my survival. First I really need to figure out what timeline did I come into. A just said something about Raikage to the person who is holding me. So should I assume that he isn't the Raikage currently? But then again, I can't jump to any conclusions. Damn, all that anime that I've watched and I still couldn't understand a thing. Ok. Let's look at the bright side, Kumo is not very prominent in the show until the time of the fourth shinobi war. And there are no attacks on Kumo until Sasuke comes along to kidnap Killer Bee. There are no members of the Akatsuki from Kumo either, so in a way this is the best place to get stronger without worry of being attacked I guess.
On top of that being A's son basically guarantees that I will have access to the good stuff in jutsus. Just imagining myself with the Lightning Chakra suit that they're famous for is making me feel all giddy. I've always thought that lightning is the coolest element. I mean take one look at Killua from HxH or even Kakashi's Raikiri, how is that not cool. But I will really have to work my ass off. I am hoping that I get most of A's talent from his genes. Now that I have to plan for things without a system, I really hope that I'm talented enough. Come to think of it, I think mother named me Rai. Hehe. Doesn't that mean lightning in Japanese, looks like I'm fated to be great at it. Oops let's not jinx myself. Honestly though I'm glad that my mother is the one who chose my name. I really don't like names like A B C or D. I mean seriously could you be any lazier when it comes to picking names for your kids. I'll think about all this later, now I'm really feeling drowsy. Time to enter the land of dreams.
A POV
A can be seen standing in front of a beast of a man who with a lightning shaped scar on the left side of his chest. This man is A's father the Third Raikage also named A actually. (He will be referred to as the Thrid Raikage from now on)
"So you're telling me that Yui died after childbirth and that you're the father?" Third Raikage can be seen asking A in a calm voice.
A can be seen sweating bullets in front of his father. Looking at his father's calm countenance he knows he's going to get a tongue lashing and maybe even a beating right now. Their family is known for their explosive personalities and he knows from personal experience that it is never a good thing to see his father being calm because he knows that under that calm façade is a volcano about to burst.
"Yes. I was only told of this earlier." A answers back
"Ho. So you bedded a woman in your drunken stupor, you've known that she was pregnant all this while and didn't think about the possibility that she's carrying your child. Are you a fucking idiot?" The Third Raikage explodes at his son.
"Ah. I'm too old for this shit." The Raikage adds.
