Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Hogwarts
'Hurry up Ev, if you miss your train I will be furious!' I hear my mother yell from downstairs. 'I'm coming mother!' I say as I grab my suitcase and my owl cage. Today is the day, I'm joining fourth year at Hogwarts, a little bit late but I just got my Hogwarts letter, but why this late I can't understand. I went to non wizard school till now or how would my parents say 'muggle school', but I knew everything about magic and powerful wizards, or at least I thought so. My parents are working at Ministry of Magic and they told me that it's better for me to stay out of it as it's not safe in this world. But now after this letter I made a decision to go and learn about magic, I mean I should learn how to protect myself right? I check myself one last time in the mirror and go downstairs where I met my mother Lucy and father James.
'Finally, let's go, let's go!' my mother yells as she pushes me out of the house. 'Put your stuff in the trunk Evelyn, ah let me help you' my father didn't even finish his sentence as he grabbed my stuff and put it in the car. He turned car on and stepped on the gas, I had 10 minutes till the train left, but thankfully we live close to the station. Before my mom could yell at me again, I jumped out of the car and grabbed everything I could and followed them. I searched for my ticket, praying I didn't forget it at home and thankfully I founded it in my purse.
'Here' says mother. She could see I was very confused as she continued 'Just walk in the middle of this wall, but be careful about muggles please!' I sighed and checked for people around me, once I saw it was good to go, I grabbed my suitcase and owl cage and started to walk toward the wall. I was expecting to hit it hard and I closed my eyes, but it never happened. When I opened my eyes I walked into what It seems to be platform 9 and ¾. I could hear lots of laughing and saying byes between kids and their parents, when the train whistle scared the crap out of me.
My mum pulled me into a long hug. 'Please, write me a letter once you get there okay? And be careful! Don't do anything stupid or else Snape will write us, okay?' Yes I forgot to mention, my parents know a teacher there, which means I really shouldn't get into trouble. He was a family friend and I often saw him at my fathers 'work related' gatherings.
I laughed as I hugged her back ''Of course mother, I will write you as soon as I get settled, okay?' I could feel her nod her head as she held me tighter 'Can't breathe mother!' I laugh as she breaks the hug.
My father on the other hand just gave me a handshake. He was always very formal, we didn't have exactly a good relationship but we managed to get along somehow. 'Good luck Evelyn.' he said as I grabbed my stuff. I nodded and waved for the last time and rushed toward the train.
I was so nervous since everyone was looking at me. 'She isn't first year, she looks older right?' I heard whispers whenever I went. I kept walking and searching for an empty cabin, but each one of them was full, so I just decided to sit in the first cabin I saw.
There were three students inside, probably fourt or fifth year, two guys and a girl. They stopped laughing as I opened the door to look at me.
'Hey, I wondered if I can join you? I really don't know anyone as I'm new here..' I say with a small smile.
'No, it's full.'' said a guy. He had blonde platinum hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black suit which sat on him very neatly.
'Well obviously I can see a free seat right there..' I point at free space next to girl. Unbelievable this guy, so rude.
'I said no, what can't you understand. Go away and bother some other people!' He said and closed the doors. Other two just started laughing and I rolled my eyes.
'Well fuck them.' I mumble to myself. I'm for sure not sitting next to him now, even if you pay me! Not even in hell! I was so busy with my thoughts I didn't even see where I was walking. I bumped into a girl with bushy hair.
'I'm so sorry, I didn't pay attention where I'm going.' I apologize.
'It's okay, don't worry. You're new right? My name is Hermione.'' She says and gives me her hand. I gladly accept it and shake it 'Yes, I'm joining the fourth years, I'm a little late but at least I'm here right? My name is Evelyn, nice to meet you.'
'Oh, we are in the same year then! Would you like to join us? I mean, I assume you don't know anyone since it's your first year here.' she asked.
'I would love to, yes. Thank you so much!' I smile.
She started to tell me a little bit about Hogwarts and the headmaster as we walked to their cabin. She was also telling me about subjects we have this year and who teaches it, little you knew one name did sound quite familiar. 'I know Snape, his is our family friend! What does he teach?' I said as I looked at Hermione. She gave me a confused look 'Uhh, potions..Here we are!' she opened the doors of their cabin.
Two pair of eyes looked and me and Hermione. 'Harry, Ron this is Evelyn, she will be joining us this year.' Hermione explained.
They introduced themselves and helped me with my suitcase. I knew about Harry Potter, I mean I never saw him but I heard few stories about him, escaping You-Know-Who. Why my father hated him so much I couldn't understand, he was a young boy and he didn't do anything wrong.
'How come you are just joining us?' asked Ron.
'Well my parents decided to keep me out of the wizard world until now. I never asked why, but they probably had good reasons I think... So how do you like Hogwarts so far?'' I explained as they stared at me.
They told me stories from Hogwarts and we laughed as they told me about their classmates. Time really flew by and once we were getting close Hermione turned to me and said 'You should change into school robe, we are getting close. Once you get sorted you will get another one with you house on it. There are four houses by the way, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor, which is our house as you can se on our robes.'' I'm so thankful for her, she told me a lot in few hours, so I can at least be prepared for ceremony. And she was right, at exactly same moment I changed into my uniform the train stopped.
'We are here' said Harry. 'Get your stuff and we will meet you outside, okay?'
I nodded and grabbed everything I had and rushed outside to meet them. Once I saw them I began to walk toward them, but I noticed three more ginger heads. I met Ronald's older twin brothers Fred and George and his younger sister Ginny, I really liked them. While we were talking and joking around, the same guy with platinum blonde hair bumped into me 'I see you found a perfect group. Pathetic Potter, Mud-blood Granger and Weasleys. You couldn't go lower,' he laughs with their friends.
'Go away Malfoy' says Harry and grab me to walk away. I decided to show him a quick middle finger before I actually walked away. I'm not letting anyone walk over me, I learned in my high school to be tough - high school girls can really be mean. The group looked at me as twins spoke up at the same time 'Feisty!'
'Who are they? I met them on the train, blondie especially is so fucking rude, I wanted to punch his face!' they look at me and burst out laughing.
'We like you already! The talking one was Draco Malfoy. His father is Lucius Malfoy, he works at Ministry of Magic with my father, but he is a very bad man. The girl is Pansy Parkinson and the other one is Gregory Goyle. All their parents are deatheaters, they support and work for You-Know-Who. Not to mention they are Slytherins, it's known fact that all people in Slytherin went bad.' Ron explains.
That name sounded very familiar, Malfoy. I think my father works with him as well, but could it be? It's small world after all. I decided to ignore this thought and joined in conversation. After 10 minutes I landed my eyes on Hogwarts for the first time. It was huge and magnificent building.
