Chapter 7: Chapter 7

He was overreacting but if small petty issues kept his mind distracted from the pain he didn't care. He drove around the place wanting to get a feel of it, every turn he took people stared at him like they had never seen a human before. He took another turn to finally find the street that was lined up with all mini shops of all kinds. His slight ecstasy came to end as he realized the town he just moved to.

It was a pack; it was a large pack that was probably 90% of the town and how he knew this? Half the stores attaining to them and their own council, administration, registration and other government departments. No wonder they all stared at him, no wonder everyone was looking at him, they weren't weird he was. It must've been the oddest thing to see a human move here with how far out this town is from everything else minus their whole pack population.

Why didn't he expect this with all the obvious signs? He doesn't know, again distractions were a peace of mind right now. He wasn't so sure about living here anymore, especially after what happened. If those people reached here, no one, nobody would hesitate to give his address, they're all so terrified of the group. He thought it was pathetic, despite him losing everything to them he'd rather die than ever show an ounce of fear towards them.

'fuck it, let me at least get some supplies first' he decided after thoughts ran through his head for the next half an hour and because it would've made him look even stranger just parked at the side of the road doing nothing.

He walked out of his car, locking it as he made his way to the first store on the lane 'Hardware store' nobody can live without internet and that was his priority after the whole list of trying not to die. He heard the small bell ring, the generic sound in a lot of small-town shops was so familiar to him, he wishes he could hear it all day. It was a relatively small store, but then considering the small town there shouldn't be much of a need for a bigger one, especially for a hardware one.

He didn't want to waste his time searching through the small aisles searching for a suitable router. Out of all the things he mastered, technology was never one of them. He wanted to approach the worker, who hasn't stop staring at him ever since he walked in except his eyes were wide, with surprise? Panic? What did he have to fear?

'I know this town is full of weres, but have they seriously never seen a human before, the fuck they are acting so odd for?' he groaned in his head, he sighed loudly partly wanting the employee to know his irritation even though they would've heard it regardless. Keeping eye contact he walked towards the counter, before he could say anything the man started to stalk towards him with a strange determination in his eyes.

He stood his ground despite the other man's eye change. Why he felt threatened enough to half shift Elmer didn't understand. Even though the actions were meant to intimidate him, they had zero effect. After the interrogations he's been through, everything he's gained and lost another mere were couldn't possibly intimidate.

He watched as the man stopped 2 meters away from him, his eyes judging every inch of him, or at least trying to. His walls were taller and thicker than any other concrete building in the world. He watched pleased as frustration ran through the other man's eyes, he could read him like an open book, he knew how much it was killing the other man that he couldn't get anything off of him.

'was he the gatekeeper or one of the guards? The fuck does he want to know so much? And why didn't they all think this before they sold a house to a human? Dumbfucks' he said in his head, although he wished he said it out loud cause he just had enough of it all.

He heard the little bell of the door ring again and finally broke their eye contact to look to his side. He saw a small man around 5'5 standing with a shocked expression by the door staring between the both of them. He was just about to scream in anger at the staring when the boy finally spoke but to the presumed employee or owner, he didn't know yet.

"hey Michael, why don't we calm down for a bit, know I told you to stay home, the coming full moon is really getting to you huh?' he said trying to deviate the situation. Although it didn't work, he lived with a pack, he learned to keep track of moon changes despite and he knew full well that the full moon wasn't even close to coming. He appreciated the help though, he wanted to know what caused an adult to willingly half shift and feel threatened by him, but he kept his mouth shut.

"you work here?" he asked the boy in front of him, who slowly nodded in response while pushing the other man behind the counter.

"yup is there anything I can help you with?" he said after pushing the other adult into a seat kept behind the counter's desk.

"yeah, just needed to know about Wi-Fi connection, just moved here and would appreciate it if it could get set up quickly" he answered the boy after eyeing the other man still on edge by what just happened.

"yeah, sure no problem, just write down your address here we'll have someone come set it up tomorrow evening" he heard the boy reply while sliding down a piece of paper on the counter, he walked up cautiously and picked up the pen attached to the table and wrote down his new address. With one last glance at the man in the chair he thanked the boy and walked out the door, he signed loudly, groaning internally and just wished that the rest of the day would go much easier than it had up until now.
