Chapter 54: It's alright, everything is alright. I'm doing alright

The next day, Jey was awakened by the sound of his cell phone ringing.

At first, Jey didn't feel like answering the call and returned to her sleeping world, but it seemed like her cellphone didn't want to lose and kept ringing, forcing the girl, who sleeps on the sofa, to accept the call.

Grumbling briefly and her eyes still closed, Jey stretched out her hand on the table beside the sofa. Feeling around the table, she trying to find the source of the annoying sound.

Without looking at the name printed on the cellphone, Jey answered the call in a hoarse voice.

"Hello..."

"Si-Sissy?"

Ugh... not anymore ... Jey protested in her heart the moment she heard that voice.

Not hearing an answer from her stepsister, Katie called Jey again.

"Why did you call?" sighed Jey.

"I just wanted to let you know that in two weeks, there is a family dinner with Brother Mark's family. I hope you can come, sister, to support me."

Jey was silent for a long time. She is now fully awake.

At first, Jey thought she wouldn't be affected by that name again. Jey thought she was over it. But in reality, her heart still feels those painful-tingling feelings.

"What else?" asked Jey in her flat voice. Only God knows how hard it was for Jey to suppress all her feelings so that her voice didn't give a hint of her pain.

Katie was quite confused by Jey's response. She wondered whether Jey had moved on or just pretended to sound strong.

After reminding Jey about dinner once again, the call ended.

Jey's strong facade finally fell apart the moment Jey put her cellphone on the floor.

Her eyes and nose turned red in an instant. Tears flowed freely down Jey's cheeks.

Jey closed his eyes with his arm. The other hand stretched out to the floor, still holding the cellphone.

"It's alright; everything is alright. I'm doing alright," whispered Jey softly as if trying to trick herself.

Still trying to calm her hurt heart and mind, Jey's cell phone rang again. Seeing the number did not save in her cellphone contacts, Jey hesitated in accepting the call. But in the end, Jey still answered the phone.

"Hello?" Jey replied in her formal tone.

"I'm at your lobby building." A deep, firm voice was heard across the call.

Jey was stunned by the tone. The voice is very familiar yet foreign at the same time.

"A-Aaron?" Jey probes carefully.

"Mm."

Jey, who was lying down, immediately got up and sat down, hearing Aaron's confirmation. Many questions sprang up instantly in Jey's mind. Where? What? How? Why?

"Should I go to up? Or you come down?" inquired Aaron.

"Huh? Er, I-I go. Wait there. 5 minutes."

Jey didn't give Aaron a chance to agree or reject.
