Chapter 68: Let me do EVERYTHING and you do ANYTHING
Jey couldn't lie that she kind of had a sense of admiration and interest in someone like Aaron. Not only was he successful in business, but he also had a good reputation in the military world.
Aaron also comes from a family that has the best character, in her opinion. One word that she always missed but never had was in the Aaron family. Family. A true family.
But just as the feeling of admiration and interest in her heart, Jey's mind couldn't make peace with her heart. That small organ in her chest kept sending warning signals to stay away from romantic relationships, especially with someone significant and important like Aaron.
Aaron watched Jey's every change of expression with an amusement look. He smiled a little at every change in Jey's face, which kept changing as the seconds passed.
At that time, Jey, who was busy with her thoughts, let her feelings appear clear in her eyes and let Aaron read and understand her every complaint.
However, the more he looked, the smile on both ends of his lips faded little by little. Aaron could see Jey's doubt and worry, but he didn't understand the root of it.
What made her so scared and worried?, questioned Aaron in his mind.
Seeing Jey, who was still thinking in her world, Aaron reached out and grabbed Jey's hand and then gently grasped it.
"You don't have to worry about whatever in your mind. I just tell you how I feel about you," said Aaron softly as he rubbed the back of Jey's hand with his thumb.
Jey opened and closed her mouth as if trying to say something, but no words came out of her mouth. She just looked at Aaron with watery eyes. Jey took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
There was a hint of relief in her heart that Aaron didn't demand anything from his confession. Because honestly, Jey didn't know how to respond to Aaron's new confession.
Seeing the clear beads of tears on Jey's face, Aaron raised his other hand and gently wiped it. He smiled sincerely and looked deeply at Jey as if to give her some comfort. Aaron finally played the ends of Jey's hair as he said again,
"Let me do everything. You can do whatever you want. Just don't push me away and give me a chance to be a part of your life."
Aaron's words gradually lifted the burden in her heart. Jey smiled genuinely and broadly with a flushed face full of happy tears as she nodded her head in approval of Aaron's request.
Maybe it is alright to try again, hoped Jey in her heart.
Aaron, still with the same smile on his face, gently stroked Jey's cheek. He brought his face closer and gently kissed Jey's forehead. The lip lingers there for a moment before it left some fire sensation to both of them.
"It's getting late, go and sleep. I'll call you tomorrow." Said Aaron, who had leaned back and looked at the stunned Jey with her eyes slowly opening.
Jey absentmindedly nodded her head.
"Good night, Jeqline."
"G-good night, Aaron. Safe drive, message me when you get home." blurted Jey with a smile that touched her eyes. Aaron gave a quick nod and saw Jey get out of his car.
Jey, who had walked a few steps, stopped and turned around. Seeing Aaron's car still in the same place and Aaron was still staring at her from the lowered window, Jey waved her hand and walked back to her penthouse.
That night, the two of them seemed to have taken a step forward in their relationship, which was still a very long way. But it's better to take one teeny-weeny pace forward than take a huge stride back.
