Chapter 2: Cultivation Technique!
As Lucifer was walking through the dark alleyway, he was deep in thought about the memories he received from Edward.
'Even though I got the memories of this world from Edward, I can't solely rely on his knowledge, since this world isn't nearly as simple as it seems to be. The Qi density of this world is abnormally high for a lower plain, with half of the Qi density of the immortal world, yet it should normally be impossible, therefore… something must have happened.'
'In Edward's memories there was a major event that happened about forty years ago that caused a lot of change to happen to the world, but nobody knows what caused it and was just happy with the results it brought. It caused people's lifespans to drastically increase from 100 to 200-350 years, and that is just for normal people that haven't cultivated yet. People felt livelier; they looked more beautiful and got less sick, thus they don't care how it happened or why it happened.'
'If normal people don't know anything then the people with more status and money will, therefore I will have to increase my status to get more knowledge about the incident, what superpowers there are on this planet, can people cultivate, and if they can how high are their realms.
'I should find a place where I can stay and spend a few hours cultivating, then I will take it from there.'
Lucifer had to walk for another minute before he saw a light at the end of the tunnel/alley, but it was a facade as Lucifer had to walk for another minute before he finally reached the exit of the alleyway.
Lucifer stepped out of the alley onto the pavement, scanning his surroundings for any sign of where he was.
Glancing around the place he could only see long stretches of buildings on both his left and right side, but nothing he could use. Luckily for him, he needed nothing extra as the area he was in was a sign of where he was. Just staring at the area he knew that he was in the section where the poor lived.
There was an asphalt road in front of Lucifer, with countless potholes, making it barely drivable. Approximately 80% of the streetlights either don't work or are flickering on and off, which caused it not to properly illuminate the entire area, leaving many dark spots, that increased crime rate.
Inspecting the buildings, Lucifer could see that over half of them weren't even houses, but three-story apartment buildings, split between six to eight individual apartments. Most of the buildings had a lot of cracks on them, looked pitch black as if they were burned, cracked driveways or shattered windows. In all the driveways, especially the apartment buildings, there were a lot of bicycles. Cars, which are normally the majority, are the minority here, with one at every one-hundredth house.
Looking towards the left and right, he struck a thoughtful pose, thinking about what direction he should take to find a place for him to rest, recuperate and cultivate till dawn.
As he was in thought, he spotted something brown a meter to the right of him. He walked towards it, bend down, and retrieved it before looking at what it is.
'It looks like some kind of bronze coin. Ah! I remember I saw it in Edward's memories. Mmm… It looks like this world uses Bronze -, Silver- and Gold -coins to trade. Now that I think about it this I can see that this planet is really strange, as it only has one massive country, called Azeroth. Even though this planet only had one continent, it is still a hundred times larger than Earth is and use this currency system all over Azeroth, and the one hundred regions it has. Maybe I can even use this coin to decide what road to take?'
Lucifer picked up the bronze coin of his palm and pinched it between his fingers as he studied both sides, taking note that the top of the coin had a one engraved into it, and the bottom had nothing. Next, he placed it on his right thumb, which is in a bendy position, readying himself to flick it to decide what direction he should go in.
'If its heads, I will go to the right, and if its tails, I will go to the left.'
*Ting*
Lucifer flicked the coin a few meters into the air before it began descending, but as it dropped below his eye-line, he only moved his right hand and caught the coin with a casual wave of his hand, and bringing the coin closer to see what the results are.
'So it's left, huh?'
Lucifer took one last look towards the right, before stuffing the coin into what remains of his trouser pocket, turned on his heels and began walking towards the left.
As he was walking, Lucifer was simultaneously thinking about a place he could stay at, to cultivate throughout the night, however halfway through his thought process he recalled a memory of a park that is close to this area and fits his requirements perfectly.
As he had a place to stay and had time to kill, he began thinking about what cultivation technique he will use, but before beginning, he made sure that his soul power is spread out in an area of ten meters around him, did he fall deep into contemplation.
Lucifer tried to remember what cultivation manuals he collected, yet he just couldn't remember everything. He just had too many of them and with the damage, his soul sustained there is no way that he will remember every unimportant technique. He had a few hundred thousand manuals he collected throughout his life in the immortal world, be it for cultivation, attack arts, soul attacks, alchemy, blacksmithing, talisman creation, or even formation building. He had them all, luckily the techniques were still in his mind, but Lucifer will have to sort through everything, which could take him months with his soul power being so weak.
Seeing that he couldn't remember every manual, he felt regretful, but he couldn't do anything about it. He could only sigh in regret before moving to his mind-space to begin sorting everything out.
He was prepared to start sorting everything out, yet when he entered he saw a neatly arranged library instead. The library was full of books, build in a gigantic spiral that stretched for thousands of kilometres into the atmosphere. The spectacular sight stunned him momentarily but quickly regained his calm.
He recalled that he already arranged and re-arranged everything in his previous life and couldn't be more pleased.
'How convenient.'
If Lucifer was any normal man, he would have endlessly praised himself, but he wasn't any normal man.
He calmed down his emotions and began searching for a cultivation technique he can use.
'I will begin by filtering out all the low levelled cultivation techniques, and the things that don't concern the cultivation techniques.'
After making a plan, Lucifer called all the high levelled techniques for cultivation, however, he didn't consider how many techniques he had, considering there were still a few hundred remaining.
'I will have to narrow down my search to only leave the strongest of them behind.'
He spent a few minutes carefully scanning each one before finding what he wanted and pulling them with his consciousness towards him, making them float in front of him.
Standing inside his mindscape, and staring at the three ordinary-looking books in front of him, he began studying each one.
'These three are peak ranked cultivation manuals that is extremely rare even in the immortal world, since it can take you to the realm of Qi God-king or even further if you manage to fully cultivate it. I couldn't cultivate any of these in my previous life, since I needed to cultivate any of them from the very beginning, but now I have a chance. Hahaha, the heavens are truly smiling on me.'
Finishing his inner monologue with a stoic expression still plastered on his face, he started reading the names and descriptions about what the techniques can do.
"The first one is the 'Heavenly Devouring technique', which is a technique that defies the heavens and everything it stands for. The one that cultivates this art can extract 100% of the medical value from pills and herbs without getting impurities or risking implosion; Can absorb 25% to 50% of others' Qi and store it in the dantian to refine later into your own; Use surrounding Qi to its fullest, losing none of it when pulling it towards one's direction or when moving it towards the dantian; Be warned that one's lightning tribulation will be a thousand times worse than the others, as the heavens will try to smite thee. The higher your realm, the more Qi thee will require, and if one doesn't cultivate this technique well, then it can cause an unstable foundation or even one's death."
"Second one is the 'Demonic Flame technique', which is a technique one cultivates by using the flames from the deepest reaches of hell itself to cultivate, strengthen and refine the body. When cultivating one will always be in immense pain as the fires will continually burn your flesh, organs, blood, muscles and even one's bones will have their turns. In the first realm, it will continuedly to burn the flesh off, and if one cannot withstand the pain, one may lose their minds; in the second realm, one's muscles will disintegrate and rebuild themselves repeatedly and can also make one lose one's mind if they can't withstand it. The higher the realms go, the more intense the pain will be, but the more strength one will gain. If successful and thee can cultivate it, then one's Qi will turn into Fire Qi that can later become Demonic Fire Qi. Be warned that the one that cultivates this art will evoke the wrath from the heavens, but gain the trust from the demons."
"Third one is the 'Heavenly Yin technique', which is only a technique a woman can cultivate, which will allow one to collect yin passively from their surroundings even if they are sleeping, eating, intercourse, or just walking. Their cultivation speed will soar through the heavens as this art will increase one's cultivation speed by 200% in cold areas and 500% in an area dense with yin energy, which is normally places where many people died. The one that cultivates this loses their emotions if they do not fight against it, or any loved ones in their heart. When one cultivates, the body will chill over from all the yin energy, which may or may not cause pain. If one reaches the next realm, one's body will enclose in ice for hours, days, months, or even years, but when one exits… one will be reborn. The ice would yin would fuse with one's body, blood, organs, muscles, bones, and even your Qi, making it hundreds of times stronger. One will become even more beautiful and strengthened when one reached higher realms and breakthroughs the 'cacoon' of ice. Be warned the one that cultivates this art will evoke the wrath of the heavens."
Looking at the descriptions of these three techniques, he couldn't help but suck in an icy breath of air before he finally just shook his head.
'They aren't peak ranked cultivation manuals for anything. If I cultivated one of these in my previous life, I wonder what heights I could have reached.'
*Sigh*
Lucifer couldn't help but sigh at his thought process, so he quickly threw all of those thoughts to the back of his mind and seriously stared at the three cultivation manuals, pondering about what he should choose. Just as he was about to decide, he saw/ felt the park in front of him through his soul power.
He exits his mindscape and opened his crimson eyes to look at the park in front of him.
The park was beautiful, looking as if it came straight out of a painting, with large luscious trees, soft green grass, rainbow-coloured flowers, yet the most beautiful thing was the large pond in the middle of the park that had vapour floating above it, making it seem ethereal.
'This place is perfect for me to cultivate! The Qi density here is 20% denser than outside of the park. But… why is there no other cultivator here? I don't believe that there are not any cultivators when the Qi is so rich. Perhaps there is no-one at the Qi ancestor realm, which is the realm where you can use your soul power, within this city.
Without soul power, people can't accurately gauge how much thicker the Qi concentration is here and will just assume that it is only slightly better.'
With these thoughts, Lucifer almost burst out laughing at how lucky he is, but he didn't because he is a 'refined' immortal and had an image to uphold, thus he just let out an amused chuckle.
He noticed he has shown far more emotion on this planet than he ever has, which is another thing he will have to think about.
'Maybe this has something to do with this body? Maybe it's slowly changing me while my soul and the body continues to fuse.'
He looked for a place to sit and cultivate, yet it was too dark to see anything, thus he drew the Qi inside of his soul power's range and covered his eyes to momentarily enhance his vision. He scanned the area and soon saw a park bench near the pond, covered with trees, making it almost impossible to see in the dark.
'Perfect!'
He slowly made his way there, as he proceeded to read through each technique once again, before making his choice.
He stopped his thought process when he arrived in front of the park bench, sat down, and changed into the lotus position, calming himself down and closing his eyes.
'I have chosen the Heavenly Devourer technique, thus it's time for me to start cultivating.'
He slowly breathed in and out in fixed intervals, drawing the Qi from his surroundings towards his body, through his nose, and his meridians into his dantian, which is right below his navel and started circulating the Qi from his dantian throughout his meridians, breathing out through his mouth, according to what the technique said.
