"Jordan," my eyes widened and I stiffened. Jordan turned around and immediately shielded my body with his. "Jordan, where's the gun?" I whispered into his ear and both our eyes landed on the gun lying on the ground in the distance between Max and us. 

I saw Max's eyes find the gun between them as both of them made a run for it. My breath hitched in my throat when I heard Max's laugh. He had caught the gun before Jordan could.
