Chapter 2: Meeting Ash

It's been 3 months since I've been reincarnated here as a Pikachu. It took a while to get used to this body, but once I just stopped thinking about it too much the movement came naturally to me. I've gotten a little closer to Professor Oak, but I still haven't let him touch me. Only occasionally showing him I will go into a Pokéball, if only briefly.

During those 3 months I wasn't just lazing around though despite it going against my being. I've also been doing some training in preparation for my journey with Ash. I know he isn't the brightest bulb in the bunch, so I can expect to be thrown into many difficult if not almost completely impossible battles.

I started to getting quicker and I don't mean like speed. I mean I did that too, but I meant like agility. Being able to turn or stop and get back up to full speed as quickly as possible. I've also learned I can run the electricity that's stored in me through my body and I can run a little bit faster. This is how I also accidentally learned Volt tackle.

This was a huge boon because I honestly didn't know if I could learn move on my own or not. So with that I began learning iron tail as well since Ash will have me battle Brock once we reach Pewter. While I can't plan our journey from my pika body, I can control things that immediately effect me.

Like learning new moves and actively dodging in battle when I need to, to help Ash. Also I wonder if gain experience like the games? I'm the show there was several times they talked about Pokémon gaining experience points and stuff, but I'm not sure if that's really going to work.

Though I might as well shock all those Spearow like original Pikachu does just to see. Anyways I can worry more about that later. For now I need to go over my current available moves, and really hone them in.

I've probably been adding too much variety into my set of moves, but currently I have

Quick Attack

Thundershock

Thunderbolt

Thunder

Volt Tackle

Iron Tail

Double Team

Agility

The next moves I wanted to add were Mega Punch/kick, but I can always work on them along with double edge and Brick break later. For now though I'll just continue perfecting the moves I have in preparation for when Ash starts his Pokémon journey.

Turns out that was today, Oak came to me with the Pokéball before I could go outside and start my daily training. Turns out what happens inside the Pokéball depends on me. I can go into a sleep like state where I don't notice anything at all, or I can keep a watch on my surroundings. That comes with the downside of feeling trapped, but I'll put up with it for now.

"Sorry about this Pikachu, but we have 4 different trainers starting their Pokémon journey today and I've decided to give you to one of them. I think this will be good for you." Oak says with a bit of sadness in his voice I guess even after caring for Pokémon for so long he can still get attached.

I decided to go into the sleep state once he put me on the pedestal with the other Pokémon. It was about 2 hours later when I was released from the Pokéball to see Professor Oak and Ash staring at me.

"Pikachu." (Hello)

When Ash goes to pick me up like he does in the show I give him and Oak a little shock. Oak for putting me in the Pokéball all the time and Ash for taking so long to get here.

I didn't feel like getting dragged like Pikachu did, so as soon as I finished shocking him, I hoped up on top of his head and assumed my position for the Pokémon journey.

We made it 10 minutes into the journey before Ash attempted his infamous pidgey catching at the beginning. I can see now why Pikachu was laughing because I was now laughing at Ash and what he was doing. Though maybe i should have not allowed this happen because now we were currently being chased by the flock of Spearow.

You don't realize it in the show but those beaks really hurt, I was letting loose the occasional thundershock or thunderbolt, but there was still so many. We were now riding Misty's bike when Ash crashed into the muddy road.

Even though I was expecting it, there was still a welling of emotion in my chest when Ash got up and gave that speech. It made me actually want to save him, not just to get stronger. Mustering up my strength I leapt on to his shoulder and past him and let loose my strongest attack. Thunder.

This attack hit all of the spearow and sent them dropping to the ground unlike the show where he only hit a chunk of them. I can't say whether it was just all that electricity running through or what, but I did feel like I had gotten stronger after defeating all those Spearow, but for now I'm laying on my side looking up at the sky with Ash. That's when we saw Ho-oh fly across the sky as the storm clouds started to disappear.

I went to sleep after that and woke up later in the Pokémon center. Ash had brought me all the way here just like the show. I guess we formed a real bond after that Spearow incident. I had one more thing to deal with though, I could prevent team Rocket from blowing up the Pokémon center and just maybe not have to deal with them the entire journey.

While they are idiot for the most part, they did try to constantly capture Pikachu and I will not have them do the same to me. Being trapped inside something that I wouldn't be able to escape even with my new found powers frightens me. So sneaking out of the Pokémon center I run to where the Police station is in this town and find Officer Jenny.

She was standing there with a Growlithe thankfully, just in case she doesn't recognize me I could relay the information to the Growlithe and maybe she'll at least believe it.

"Pi pika pika chuu!" (Team Rocket is getting ready to attack the Pokémon Center. You gotta stop them!) i said while pointing to a Meowth air balloon that was flying over the Pokémon center.

"Grow grow!" (Thank you, I will inform my master)

The growlithe turned and began to bark to Officer Jenny who after a second seemed to understand what Growlithe was trying to say and immediately hopped on her motorcycle and sped off to the Pokémon center. I used this time to make my way back and sneak back into the recovery room.

The next morning Jenny was taking down the Team Rocket poster and I was perched on Ash's head with Misty close behind.

"Hey Officer Jenny! Did you catch the thieves or something?" Ash asked her as he approached.

"We did. We caught them trying to break into the Pokémon Center last night and we apprehended and we now have them locked up. You have nothing to worry about!" Officer Jenny

"Well that's a relief, I can't believe there are people going around stealing Pokémon." Misty

"Ya you said, I can't believe people would steal at all." Ash

I could only flinch as I knew what was going to come next.

"Ya you're right Ash! Why would anyone steal something that's not theirs, like say for instance a bike, and after they stole it they completely ruined it and left it in the mud on side of the road. That would be a terrible person." Misty

Ash continued to deflate and all I could do was pat his head, since he did use that bike to save me after all. With Misty following Ash so he could pay her back for her bike, we now made our way to Viridian Forest and eventually Pewter City.

Ash caught Caterpie for his 2nd Pokémon, and we ran into pidgeotto the next day. I decided to help Ash out and gave the bird a little thundershock earning Ash his 3rd Pokémon. I still tense up when he picks me up or hugs me, but not as much as the first day when I shocked him.

Since Team Rocket was arrested we didn't run into them, which sadly meant Caterpie didn't evolve. He did however evolve in the battle against the Samurai kid. Ash had sent Caterpie out against the Pinsir and actually managed to win by using stringshot and tackle. They had the amazing Metapod vs Metapod fight when the swarm of Beedrill came.

I started letting thunderbolts fly in hopes of gaining even more experience, but the beedrill still escaped with metapod. I did feel my power grow after defeating about 10 beedrill though, so I know I definitely get stronger by defeating enemies.

It goes like the show from there with Ash going to rescue Metapod and Metapod evolving after getting hit by a beedrills drill that cracked its shell open.

"Pi Pikachu" (it's nice to have you on the team)

"Freee." (Thank you Pikachu)

And so with Viridian Forest behind us we finally made it to the site of where we will obtain our first gym badge, legitimately this time. Pewter City.

"Look it's Pewter City!" Ash

"Ya, I can't wait to take a nice hot bath and sleep in a soft bed." Misty

"Well how about you both get off my merchandise."

Flint

"Merchandise? Aren't these rocks?" Ash

"Yes, they are Pewter City souvenir rocks." Flint

This elicited a groan for me, Misty and Ash both looked baffled at how stone faced the man was as he said that.

"If your looking for the Pokémon Center I can take you there." Flint

As he said that he hopped up and started walking toward Pewter City. Ash shrugged and began to follow, after a moments hesitation Misty followed too. We were finally in Pewter City.

======================================

2nd chapter end.

Author's Note: We flew through the Viridian parts because honestly besides Pidgeotto nothing important happened. Ya Caterpie into Butterfree and all that, but Ash releases Butterfree so fast I honestly would forget about it if they didn't make the episode it leaves so sad.

Now it's time for Pewter where we will get to see Pikachu in his first real battle. Pikachu has trained for this moment for 6 months, he know rock types and ground types are his biggest weaknesses. Has he prepared himself enough to beat them?

Find out next time on Drago- I mean the next chapter. Was that too cringe? Sorry lol

Hope you enjoyed. -SS
