My morning starts off the same as every other morning has for the past 3 years, in pain. My scalp aches from where he probably pulled it. The ache in between my legs seems never ending to the point I may not be able to get up today. I have no choice, I need to get Noah ready for school and unlock his door before he wakes up.
I look down at my body and as expected my gaze is met with my naked body covered in bright purple bruises and old scars. Sighing I try to get out of the bed as quietly as possible and put my robe on. Walking is as usual not the best thing for me right now. He was much more rough last night than he usually is. I guess losing your job does that to a person huh... I look down at his sleeping face and his arms gently gripping his pillow. I can't control the warmth that fills my heart while looking at his peaceful face. It reminds me of all those years ago and the overwhelming love he once had for me. The way he always said i was his peace in this crazy world. I guess even i wasn't enough to keep away the intoxicant.
Now whenever his eyes zero in on me they're filled with hate. I leave the room before he wakes up, he hates seeing me first thing in the morning. It's best he sees Noah first. Even in his booze filled heart i know he still has some love for his son, when he isn't completely wasted that is. I refuse to let him around Noah with all that toxic running through his veins fogging up his brain.
I slip down the hallway into the hallway bathroom, also known as my bathroom. The light up mirror by the sink does no justice to my bruise covered body and neck. Body full coverage concealer usually does the trick to hide all his sin painted across my skin from prying eyes, especially the eyes of my young 8 year old.
