Chapter 45: Butcher of the Forest (Part 2)

{3rd person view this time.}

"Raided?!" Olken said. "Tell me where are they coming from, lass!"

"Past the bridge, but go to the right. There's an ancient ruins there!" Hyoran replied.

"How many bandits?" Olken asked.

"Too many to count...like...it could fill half the village." Hyoran said.

"My word! Alright, I will assemble the army, wait here." Olken said. Olken quickly went inside his hut as Hyoran is fidgeting in desperation that Kain and his monsters are fighting the bandits by themselves, heavily outnumbered.

Inside the hut, Olken finds a basket where inside has a horn in there. He picks it up and runs outside his hut.

Hyoran sees Olken with the horn.

"What is that?" Hyoran asked.

"A War Horn. Cover your ears." Olken said. Olken inhaled deeply and Hyoran covered her ears. Olken blew into the horn, letting out a loud blaring sound that echoes throughout the village.

The villagers who heard it knew what to do in case of a horn like that. The merchants quickly pulled their items into their shops and closed their windows and doors, some draped their entrances with large cloth, and some put out signs saying they're closed.

The children who were playing outside ran back to their respective families and quickly went inside their huts to hide. Their parents then sealed off their huts from the inside. The villagers who are capable of battle ran to arm themselves with weapons such as swords, spears, bows, and axes.

The guards who are stationed at and outside the gate quickly ran inside and closed the gates to block any trespassers and monsters alike. No one gets in nor out.

Villagers, be it humans, beastkins, elves, and dwarves are now ready for battle where Olken is equipped with viking-like armor and wielding a War Hammer.

"It's been a while since I went into battle like this. Everyone, Kain is out here distracting the bandits and a large amount at that. Hyoran beside me came from where Kain is located and she'll lead us there." Olken announced.

"Open the gate!" Olken yelled to guards. The four guards who are near it promptly pushed the wooden gate open to let the 150 soldiers out from the village.

"All forces...MARCH!" Olken commanded and they started marching outside the gate.

{Meanwhile...now at Kain's first person.}

"Run! That ain't a kid, it's a monster!" one bandit yelled.

"It's not worth it...I'm getting outta here!"

"I'm not getting my ass killed by this demon!"

The bandits began to scatter, running from the bloodthirsty monster that is worse than Gris and Noire.

That is until they tripped over in unison and then their heads were then separated by a glint of light.

"Paura, good job." I said via telepathy.

"Kii!" Paura screeched and carried on the attack.

I looked on a head of the masses still flailing around by Schwarze's cursed feathers.

"How many are cursed?"

[32 have recovered from the curse. 106 remained cursed.]

"Then I better finish it. Gris, Noire, Paura, Schwarze, let's finish it." I said.

As I dashed towards the crowd with my Long sword and mace in my hand, I began slicing and smashing the bandits. My two wolves, an owl, and a spider followed suit.

I can hear the sounds of flesh being torn, bones being crushed, snapped, creaking, blood splashing everywhere, and shrill screams fill the air until they are hastily silent. One by one, they fall.

Gris, Noire, Schwarze, and Paura also tear into the army as well. Gris and Noire tear out the throats, Schwarze claws out the eyes, and Paura disembowels them or cut their throats.

*CRUNCH!*

[144 hostiles remain.]

"RUN! RUUU--"

*SLASH!*

[122 hostiles remain.]

"S-SAVE ME!!"

*SMASH!*

[98 hostiles remain.]

{Meanwhile...}

A smaller group of bandits set up a temporary camp with 40 bandits. They wondering why they're not moving or at the village already.

"What's taking them? And why is it so noisy? Did we encounter a strong monster?" one bandit said.

"Not likely, and we're missing Grundel. He may have a sensitive ego, but he's strong nonetheless." the other said.

That is until a single goblin came screaming with great terror in his eyes.

"Big problem!" the goblin bandit said.

"What's gotten you so shaken up?" one bandit said.

"M-m-m-monsters! Silver Wind Wolf, Black Shade Wolf, Despair Owl, Scythe Spider, Flare Fox, and Middle Wind Elemental! Led by a more powerful monster!" the goblin said.

The bandits are now concerned, some are scared, some are confused.

"Despair Owl!? That thing is death incarnate! Should we run!?"

"What about those wolves? The Silver Wind Wolf will take us as prey if we run, especially for the Black Shade Wolf."

"What about the Flare Fox? It's known to slowly burn us from the inside!"

"If there is a Scythe Spider around, then where are the webs?"

Multiple bandits began to bicker as they have encountered powerful and rare monsters in the Nolten Forest.

"Which powerful monster are you talking about?" a deep voice spoke out and the rest looked.

What they see is a large man, wearing brown and red armor adorned with metallic studs and a cape out of bear hide. His stature is that of a body builder and taller than the average adult human. However, his skin has a pale blue color, his teeth protrudes from his lower jaw and his ears are more pointed. The Ogre.

The Ogre bandit came out of the tent and cracked his neck thicker than a tree stump with his blue muscular arms engraved with tribal markings and scars.

Just by walking out of the tent, towering over the bandits in front of him, he emits a domineering aura without looking angry.

"B-boss! You came!" the goblin said, running over to him.

"Answer the question. What powerful monster?" the ogre said.

"Y-yes. It was a monster in human form. But it had dark skin." the goblin said.

"Dark skin...is it dark red? Blue? Or is it gray? Did it have horns?" the ogre said.

"Its skin is dark brown. I don't see any horns. Must be the hair, but that monster is killing us!" the goblin answered.

The ogre growled which startled the goblin, but that growl was not directed at the goblin. He grabbed a giant mace and held it in one hand.

"I'll deal with the monster. Everyone charge in!" the ogre commanded.

Every bandit whooped and hollered from the ogre's decision and charged ahead to take on the unknown monster that is leading other monsters.

But little did they know...that the monster can do more than just lead.
