Chapter 70: We Need To Talk!

It felt awful watching my dad in that state. I ran to my father and sat on my knees.

I grabbed his hand and held his head. His mouth was open and he was staring at me.

My eyes had tears. "F-father? What happened? Who did-" My father interrupted and said, "Blaze, I need to tell you something."

I could feel his voice was low and weak. "You are not my child." He admitted. My face went pale. I got a shock as if hundreds of rocks had fallen on me. "What?!" I said. I kept mentally saying that all this was a joke my dad was soon gonna say, Gotcha! How was my performance?

"Remember the day you won the Warrior Battle Fest's first match? I had exited the room without informing you where I was going." He said. I nodded in agreement, remembering the day. It had been pretty weird. "Mr. Rock Flames had called me. He told me about your truth. You are not who you think you are Blaze." He said. His words were making me dizzy. I couldn't understand what he was getting at.

"Dad, I need to get some help." I was about to get up to call Lily when my father caught my hand tight. I looked at him and his eyes were closed. "I am afraid I do not have that much time, Blaze. I wanted to tell you the truth sooner but was afraid that I would lose you forever. But now, the time has come." He said. I wanted to protest and believe my protest myself too. "Listen carefully. You are-" His face movements stopped. His mouth remained open as his head fell down on my hand. His hand left mine and fell on his chest.

His breath too, had stopped. Lying there, with my father on my lap, I realized he was gone. It was too much for me to believe. Not being an emotional person, I wasn't crying. But I placed my head on his chest. That's when Lily slowly came in. Apparently, the noise of the fire burning through the house had stopped. What had she done?

She took some time to understand the situation. Then in a low tone, she spoke, "Blaze, Mr. Rock Flames is dead." It was almost like a whisper, hard to hear. Out of all the moments I had shared in the journey, this was as far the saddest one. I just lay there, with my head close to my dad's chest and time seemed to have stopped. All the adventures I had done till now seemed to fade away, not important anymore. I forgot about everything else.

Two Days Later (Time: 8:30 am):-

I stood there, alone behind the crowd until people noticed me and pushed me forward. Now I was in front of the two corpses. On my left was Rock Flames who seemed peaceful after death rather than before. My father lied on the left, he also looking as if he was in ecstasy. Well, at least these two are happy, I thought. Beside me was Rock Flames's wife, Kathy, whom I was meeting for the first time. The DELTAs were right behind me. There was total silence. Then the ritual of burying the dead bodies began. After everything finished and all relatives gone, I stood there in front of the two buried bodies. Oliver tapped my shoulder, "Blaze, we need to talk."
