Chapter 3: chapter three
The siblings entered the house that the small family have invited them to. They doesn't feel awkward even though it's their first time entering a stranger house because of a treat. Andre seems to feel uncomfortable but Alex tries his best to calm him down.
"Hey, come sit here, friends. I've cooked you guys some of the meals. I hope you'll enjoy it. Don't shy, just dig in." Charly's mother greeted them. She smiled to them but her attention was focused on the younger at most of time. She feels attracted to be friend with him because he seems like a special person.
"Hey friend, here some food. This is my favorite chicken grill with some salad. Since it's my favorite meal, I wanted to share it to you guys. I grilled it just now, so don't worry, it's not cold yet." She offered him while passing a plate with the meal in it. He accepted it and only bow his head as a way to thank her. He just feels awkward to work on things on his own; such as taking the food on his own even she has gave her permission to since this is a new environment to him. Ain't no one ever invite them to have a dinner before; whenever they moved to a new street or town. Alex looks at Andre as he started to digging up on his food. He must be hungry from working just now. They only ate breakfast last morning and later on working on tidy up things from the old home into the truck before they moved to here.
"Thank you for the offer. I'm glad to meet both of you. You're very nice to us." Alex thanked them and accepted the plate of meal from Charly. He picked up the cutlery and wipe it with the tissue.
"May we know your names?" Asked the mother.
"I'm Alex Frendstar and this is my brother, his name is Andre Frendstar." He finally introduced himself to the old woman altogether with Andre to her. She's look glad upon knowing their name.
"Such a nice names for both of you. I'm Sarah, and I'm this friend mother. For your information, I always invite anyone that move to that house here because I wanted to be friend. Would it be alright for both of you?" She asked and looked to both of them with impatience face. She's just too excited to have some of new friends up in the list. After all, the siblings doesn't look like a criminal; mean that they're kind. Alex looked at Andre and smiled.
"Of course we wouldn't mind if that you wanted from us. It's a great way for us to know this place too." Alex replied. But Sarah seems wanted to listen to Andre's voice since just now that now she's giving him a question.
"Andre, how was my cook? Is it fine?" She asked while pouring him a glass of drink. She offered him and he just accepted it without any reply that she wanted to listen. Andre turned to his brother and Sarah turned to Charly with disappointment. Charly just soothe her with a smile and hoping she would think positive about him.
"Aunty Sarah, he said your cooking was fine. You don't need to worry." He said and Sarah just smiled bitterly. This time, Charly was thinking about question that she wanted to ask him. And she's finally got one.
"Well, may I know where you're working on here? For me, I'm working at PP Company as a lawyer. You?" Charly changed the topic. Alex paused on his meal.
"What a destiny, we'll meet frequently then. I also working there as a management clerk." He answered. Charly gasped, she's surprised.
"What! That's really a good news! Nice to meet you, friend and colleague. Though we're in different department, sometimes I would be there for some documents." She said and offered him a high five. She looks excited to know the news; well, she might as well bury a 'love' feeling to him instantly. He's a good looking though. He accepted the offer to high five with each other.
"You don't need to excited until you jumped out, it's only a small thing. After all you working better than me. You're a lawyer." He said shyly. Just slowly he's blushing but not visible. He turned his eyes away from her and placed it into his plate. He's shyness might drive him crazy.
"It's good to know you're working at a same place. You can go to work together then." Sarah added to her daughter joy. He just chuckled to that statement.
"I have car, but if she wanted a ride, I can give her one." He said.
"I have a car too, so it's okay. I think I would drive my own car. Besides, I usually take a long time to dress up for work, you know. Because I'm a single woman also available." She said in normal tone and slowly whispered when she wanted to be honest with her status. She smirked and wink her eyes to him. It was a silent for a moment before Alex started to answer her statement.
"Well, why do you tell me that?" He asked innocently while a silly smile accompany him. She just sighed.
"Enjoy your food. I'll be in the kitchen to grab some drink." She excused herself due to frustration. Sarah just laughed and looked at both of the siblings. It's a warm feeling to be communicate like this. Sarah asked them to keep eating and add anything they want until they're full.
After a while, they ended their dinner with full stomach, could literally skip morning meal if they want. Sarah and Charly send them to the outside and just see both of them walk to their home that sit only few steps away from theirs. But Andre steps back to them, wanted to tell something. He showed them the mute people sign to thank them for a great dinner. He smiled widely as he said it to them. Sarah and Charly were shocked to know that he's ain't replying or talking to them because he's unable to; he's mute. Sarah learned some of the signs language before and thanks to that, she able to translate it to make them understand what he's been talking about.
"Thank..you.. Oh you wanted to say thank you?" She asked, she just nearly to cry to know it. He just nodded his head.
"You're mute dear? I'm sorry, honey." She hugged him when he nodded again, she rubbed his back; feeling heavy on her chest with the fact she knows now.
She started to loose it when Charly started to rub her back too. She's an old woman, it ain't a new thing when they turned to be too emotional to the some of the small things.
At home where Alex already arrived first; since Andre taking his time to talk to the neighbor, he's having a hard time to deal with himself. He's out of breath just so suddenly. It must be his illness again, with that he grabbed his inhaler and inhale the medicine in quick. He has the feeling where he's scared of death, even it just a regular attack, but this house has been growth a lot of webs and dusty. Besides, the neighbor might serve him some of his allergic foods that they don't know. Now, he's worried to sleep now because his attack might be coming again.
