Chapter 9: CHAPTER 9
CEDRIAN POV
I remain fixed at the door for some minutes, I'm still struck numb from what has just transpired some minutes ago. I just insulted my supervisor on my first day. I know I sometimes go overboard with people but this time I think I went too far.
He must be very close to uncle Philipe, that's the only explanation I can think of, because anyone in his shoes would have fired me on the spot.
I finally enter the room and everyone becomes silent and they stare at me in confusion.
I think Leisha was right, I might have over dressed with the suit.
I ignore them, walk over and take the back chair
“Hey, I think you have the wrong room” a fat lady says.
“No ma'am i'm in the correct room,” I reply
“We are all General cleaners here” she adds.
“I'm also a general cleaner,” I respond annoyed.
They all stare at me surprised, like they have been electrocuted or something.
“ooooh sorry,” the lady replies
“No it's fine, I get that alot,” I lie
“You look like a model or something,” another lady adds.
“Yes you should try modeling,” another guy adds
“Modeling is for prostitutes,” I respond
They look at me like I said something insulting
These ladies are starting to annoy me now, I slide into the corner chair and hide myself. Thanks a lot Uncle Philipe, instead of finding a job at a takeaway joint or restaurant, he came up with this, just great.
An hispanic looking guy in the other row waves at me and smiles.
I wave back at him
he points at an empty seat next to him and calls me over.
I just look away, I do not have time for chit chat
Finally Vincent walks in with two ladies and I squeeze myself behind the fat woman in front of me. I Definitely can't manage to keep eye contact with him after what I Just did.
“Good morning everyone,” he says, “this is Miss Alexis Rosewell, the CEO of this company and Miss Page, her assistant.”
The lady starts saying something and I put my headsets in my ears, thanks to the new phone uncle Philipe bought me.
She will probably say something offending and my mouth won't be able to coordinate with my brain.The CEO would definitely fire me if I insulted her.
After a long ten minutes, she finally walks out with the other lady.
Suddenly I see a slap on the table and I look up, it's Mr Vincent, his facial expression is not as smiley as it was before, this is the guy that smiled at me when I insulted him.
“You are lucky she did not see you back here otherwise you would have been thrown out by security,” he says with a flat face and walks out.
Great I just offended him again
The hispanic looking guy waves again
What's wrong with this guy I ask myself
He finally gets up and starts walking towards me
"Hello me Pedro, you what??”
I look at him annoyed
“What can I do for you Pedro??” I ask.
“You me, we stick together”
I beg your pardon??? I ask him, more annoyed than ever.
“You me friends, am so happy that you are here, us we have to stick together, and look out for each other,”
His English is as annoying as his face.
“Look Pedro, I think you have me confused with someone but I'm not here to make friends,” I inform him.
“Don't worry we know each other, Mexicans must stick together.”
I sigh “this is why I said you have me confused with someone, I am not from Mexico.”
“Even Puerto Rico we are family,” he replies
“No, I'm from Japan,” I replied.
He looks at me confused, and he changes his facial expression
“So you are one of those ass kissing Spanish boys, you think with good English and accent you better than us." he replies annoyed.
ooooh Lord this boy is testing me, I hiss
“Listen you Mexican gusano, I am here to work and not to hold your back or whatever, I do not know which drugs you are smoking but please leave me alone.” I yell out.
“You racists!!” he yells back.
I look around and notice that everyone has left
“You see everyone has left and I do not even have a clue where they have gone,” l say looking around.
“Aaaah! so you were busy with headsets and you did not get what boss Vincent was saying,” Pedro says walking away.
Shit I think I have to be nice now to this Mexican gusano
“Pedro, wait.”
he keeps walking
and I keep following him
“Ooooh so now you not smart boy with good English,” he teases.
“Okay it's somehow your fault, you creeped me out,” I remind him.
“Is that how you apologize in Japanese” he asks
I just breathe in hard to avoid insulting him again.
“See you are racist” he states again.
“I'm not a racist.... would you stop calling me that already.”
“I will be calling you racists because you've not given name and you called me a drug user.”
“I'm Cedrian and i'm from Panama."
He looks at me weirdly
“You do not look like you are from Panama?”
“How are Panamanians supposed to look like?? you are now being racist Pedro”
“You've got European eyes hispanic skin, '' he responds. “But you definitely hispanic, that's why I said we are family. European men came took our women and they gave birth to us hispanic," he adds
I do not know who taught him history but I do not want to talk about me now
“Hey Pedro where are we supposed to be going???”
“You are lucky you are hispanic otherwise I would have taken it personal when you mentioned drugs, Americans think all Mexicans are drug dealers.”
“Mr Vincent said we should all head to the duty room and get allocated,” he finally says
“What! I thought it's just orientation today,”
"No they mean business," he adds
We head to the duty room and we are given cleaning equipment and allocated to specific floors.
“Hello Cedrro, we are on the same floor, a smiling” Pedro says when I reach the floor I am relocated on.
I look at him annoyed, is anyone going to get my name correct in this place??? this is just great, just great.
