Chapter 64: Chapter 63 - The Unusual Multiverse
---Next Day---
"You sure you don't need our assistance?", Selena and Ivy asked.
"I am sure, I don't know what the different universes are going to be like till I arrive.", I replied, "Taking you with me might end up getting you killed."
"That is a good point.", Selena laughed, "Be careful, and let us know if you find anything interesting."
"Like what exactly?", I questioned.
"Large diamonds, gold, and other treasures.", Maxima said with a grin, "All of those are excellent gifts!!"
"Sounds more like a Christmas gifts, but I will see what I can do.", I chuckled.
"Make sure you are back for lunch. We worked hard on make our meal today.", Ochaco boasted.
"I understand, I promise to be back in time.", I promised kissing them before I left our universe.
---Void Between Realities---
Racing through the void between the world's, I was looking for any worlds that stood out to me. As I was racing around I ended up coming across several different Flashes from nearly twenty universes. All of them looked at me at disbelief as I blew past them like they were seeing a nightmare.
'Haha...you are no longer the fastest man alive!', I thought with a grin as I ran by.
Making sure to stay away from the Marvel Universes, I didn't want to get involved with that mess while I had Prime and Nekron coming for us. Spotting a universe after twenty minutes of running that looked different from all the rest, I decided to investigate.
--- Earth ???---
Breaking into the universe, I found myself on Earth that was fair different than all the ones I had been too. Listening to the surroundings for a moment, I confirmed my suspicions about this universe.
"Why are we stopping in this universe?", Spectre asked.
"Do you know what number this is?", I replied.
"Not off the top of my head...why?", he inquired.
"In this universe, there is no Superman to begin with.", I answered.
"What!?", he snapped, "A world without Superman?!"
Shooting into the sky I wanted to get a better vantage point. Using the magic veins to confirm my theory, I discovered that this universe's Krypton never exploded. Superman's parents had successfully evacuated their people to a new world thus never sending Clark off on his own. Since he never showed up, most of the metahumans never came out of hiding. There were Heroes like Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman but all of them kept to the shadows.
"This is a very different Earth than I am familiar with.", Spectre said, "Why did you stop here?"
"Because...we have universe where the Kryptonian people never went extinct.", I replied with a smirk.
"...that means they have an army of trained soldiers that under a yellow sun...", he started to say.
"Could be on par or stronger than a normal Superman.", I said with a smile, "Let's go find them!"
After a few jumps around the universe, I found the Kryptonian people living under an Orange Sun. Using my mind reading powers to find out the name of the planet, it turned out to be Staryl. Remembering that there was a storyline where Superman almost married a woman named Luma Lynai from this world, I decided to see what became of them as their people had intermingled here. Descending into their atmosphere I was greeted by dozens of soldiers armed, and ready to fight me.
"Good Afternoon, my name is Clark and I am a Kryptonian from Earth.", I said, "I mean you no harm."
"Lies, all the Kryptonian people came here none went elsewhere!", they said.
"Hold on, I am from another universe!", I stated, "I came here to-"
"Get him!", the soldiers shouted rushing towards me.
Fazing through their attacks I tried to tell them that I didn't want to fight them. Not paying me any mind as they attacked me, I got irritated with them for not listening to me. After several more failed attempts to get them to listen to me I finally snapped. Since I was preventing the Orange Sun Radiation from reaching my body, they were no match for me. Back handing the men into the dirt I stared at them for a moment before heading to their capital to met this world's leaders.
Apparently they found out that their soldiers had failed, and were awaiting me with bigger weapons than the first group. Pointing their tank barrels and cannons at me, I prepared to fight them if I had too. Stepping forward this world's Zod and Kal stepped forward as the military commanders here.
"State your name and reason for attacking our men.", Zod said.
"My name is Clark Wayne, and I am a Kryptonian from another universe's Earth. I came here to talk, but your men attacked me without listening to anything I had to say.", I answered, "Can we please sit down and talk?"
"What are you here to talk about?", Kal asked.
"I am here because of a different Kryptonian.", I said pulling out my view monitor.
Showing them Superman-Prime, I explained why I came and that I was seeking help dealing with him. Telling and showing them the destruction he had caused, I said I was desperately seeking allies to fight the army he was amassing. Telling the troops to stand down Zod told me to follow him. Leading me towards their government headquarters, Zod apologized for the rude greeting.
"Our scientists have been investigating the vibrations in reality that have been changing our world.", Zod stated, "About two months ago we discovered the man you call Superman-Prime destroying an alternate Earth. The information has remained classified as we have concerns that other worlds might believe we would join him if he asked. We have no intention of siding with a monster like that, our people agree that it goes against our beliefs to slaughter so many innocent people."
"So...what does that have to do with me?", I asked.
"Our sensor arrays detected your entry into our universe, and we were tracking you all the way to your entry into our atmosphere. We assumed you might be that man, again I apologize.", Zod said.
"I understand, I apologize for getting rough with your men. They weren't willing to listen to what I was saying.", I stated.
"Unfortunately you were dealing with some of our more...stubborn troops. They don't like talking out issues, they resort to violence whenever they can. Your light beating should serve as a healthy punishment for their stupidity. If you were the real enemy...they would have been executed without a doubt.", Kal chuckled, "So what do you know of this Superman-Prime?"
"I will tell you all I know.", I said.
Escorting me into the planet's Council Chambers, I was seated in front of twelve councilmen and several military leaders. Telling them Prime's backstory, I then proceeded to tell them of Nekron and the Black Lanterns. Going into detail of what was going on, and how I was involved they listened carefully to my story. Once I was done Zod looked to the chairman of the Council. Recommending that they join the Alliance, Zod was adamant that they needed to assist in removing the threat.
"The man destroying universes is a Kryptonian.", Zod stated, "We owe it to the people of the universes to end his life with our own hands."
"While I may sympathize with your desire, we have to be careful. The army he has will not fall under our might alone, even with the aid of a Orange Sun.", the Chairman replied.
"Can you not use a Yellow or Blue Sun?", I asked.
"Unfortunately due to our people intermingling, only the pure blood Kryptonian's can survive exposure to a Yellow or Blue star. The half bloods suffer terribly under those stars, some can even die.", the Chairman said.
"Crap...I forgot about that weakness.", I sighed.
Telling me that they could provide some troops, the majority of their support would be via technology. Between the two races they had exceeded the Kryptonian standard I was familiar with. Asking if their were other races that might be willing to help the Chairman nodded.
"We have a close friendship with the Guardians of the Universe. I recommend speaking with them before you return to your universe.", he said with a smile.
"I appreciate the assistance.", I said handing a Subspace Transceiver to Zod, "This will allow you to reach me in my universe. I will head over to see the Guardians before moving on."
Thanking them again I headed to Oa. Once I was gone the room let out a collective sigh.
"That was a little intense...", Kal said, "What was that oppressive aura he had?"
"He had the same aura as that man...", Zod said looking at the phone, "It is a relief that he isn't a villain. I will have those men reprimanded for attacking him. That could have ended very badly for us if they had truly enraged him."
---Oa, Universe ???---
Arriving on the Guardian's homeworld, I was greeted by several Green Lanterns. Seeing my White Lantern Ring, I was welcomed with open arms by the Lanterns like I was royalty. Taken straight to the Guardian's I was sat at the table with them. Already aware of what I told the Kryptonian Council, they asked how they could help. Fully aware of what was on the line, they wanted to join this Alliance.
Explaining my predicament with the Life Entities, they acknowledged the problem. Stating that I would likely find it difficult to manage they offered their assistance with learning to control the Ring to it's maximum potential.
"Well...I am afraid I will overtax that Life Entity sleeping in the ring. If I do, I may kill it and I don't want that.", I stated.
"May we suggest trying to syphon some of the Willpower Energy from the Green Lantern Battery to help the Life Entity?", they suggested.
"That's right! If you wouldn't mind I would like too.", I replied.
"Please do.", they said.
Guiding me to the Power Battery, they said to point the ring at the Battery and say the oath. Looking back at them, I was confused as to my knowledge there was only a single word oath for the ring. Focusing on the ring I said the word 'Live', but nothing happened. Remembering that this oath was supposed to be my oath as a ring user I decided to say the creed I wanted to say.
In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
When all seems lost in the War of Light,
Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!
Combining two parts of two different oaths, I felt this best fit the person I strived to be. I wanted to be the type of man that lived up to the expectation the children that gave me the title 'Guardian Angel' had of me. It was important to me that villains knew they couldn't hide from me, and that the innocent felt safety and hope when they saw me. Uttering the words I felt a surge of energy come over me as the ring lit up brighter than any star I had seen. Immediately the Green Light of the Power Battery shot into ring faster than I was expecting.
"This is unexpected!!", the Guardian's shouted holding onto something to stop themselves from being blown away.
After a minute of charging, the Power Battery stopped sending energy to the ring. Feeling the ring pulsing with energy now I could feel that the Life Entity was awake again. Looking at the ring with a soft smile, the Life Entity came out from within with a healthier glow than the day before.
"Wielder of the White Lantern Ring, we have heard your oath and accept you as our rightful user.", it said to me, "Continue to live up to those words, and use your power for the betterment of all!"
"I will!", I said with a nod.
Retreating into the ring again, I felt a sense of peace that was similar to the magic veins wash over me. Relaxing I let myself slip into the sensation mentally and physically. Several Lantern's were concerned something was wrong, and ran over but the Guardian's told them to stand down.
"Let him be, he is seeing what the Life Entity sees.", they said.
Opening my eyes I saw the night sky ablaze with countless brilliant lights. Realizing that I was seeing every living being in the universe I was in awe of how vast the universe really was. Fly through the universe I would have never realized how many people were out there, and big everything was.
'And Prime is snuffing all of these out...', I thought as a powerful anger washed over me, 'That bastard...both Nekron and Prime can't see the beauty that is out there. Both of them are too blind to see what they are doing is wrong, and I have to stop them.'
With new resolve I thanked the Guardian's and gave them a Subspace phone for communicating with the Alliance. Shooting off to Earth, I wanted to find the Life Entity of this universe to have it help me.
---Themyscira, Earth ???---
Following the feeling the Life Entity gave off, the trial led me to the Amazon Island of Themyscira. Of course the locals weren't happy to see a man arriving on their island, but Wonder Woman told them to stand down. Touching down on the island I focused on the feeling which led me to a small mountain in the center of the island. Following closely behind me to see why I came the Amazons waited to see what would happen.
Once the ring started to hum with life again, I raised the ring and said my oath again. Immediately the mountain began to glow as the Life Entity emerged from the mountain in the form of a Dryad. Approaching me the Life Entity looked at me with a peaceful smile.
"Traveler from Far Away Universes, you have come seeking my aide. Your oath rings true to the man you are in your heart. Take my blessing, and end the nightmare that comes for us all.", the Life Entity said imbuing its power in my ring.
Vibrating I could feel the power of the ring increasing rapidly as the Life Entity within began to heal. Once it was done sharing it's power the Life Entity faded back into the mountain. Thanking the Life Entity, I turned back to the Amazons.
"What was that?", Diana asked me sheathing her sword, "Who are you?"
"My name is Clark.", I said, "I apologize for breaking into your domain, I had business with the being sleeping in your island."
"Please don't worry about it.", she said brushing the hair out of her face, "May I asked why you sought it out?"
Explaining the situation to her, Diana asked to help with the fight. Offering to bring her Amazons to fight in this war I thanked her for her assistance. Giving her a phone as well, I asked if she might be able to persuade the other Metahumans that are in hiding. Stating she would ask them as well, I thanked her before parting ways.
---Void Between Realities---
Back on the road again, I zoomed around the multiverse and stumbled into a rather unique Earth. Finding a world where the genders of the people were reversed, from their usual genders. For example, instead of having a Superman they had a Superwoman, instead of a Batman they had a Batwoman, and so on. The Flash here looked like Sonico, but she was a blonde was smaller around the chest. Observing the Heroes from atop a skyscraper I was interested in how they fought. Unsurprisingly it didn't appear that their personalities changed with their genders. Batwoman was still broody, Superwoman was a Girl Scout, and Flash was a big flirt as she was talking with all the male Heroes. It was quite comical watching them shut her down calling her an idiot.
'This is comical gold, I need to record this and show the others.', I thought pulling my phone out.
Watching Superwoman lecture Flash about her excessive flirting, Flash simple said she was bored and lonely. Saying that she wanted a boyfriend, she was tried of men running away from her. Reminding her that she was too needy Flash flipped Superwoman the bird.
"Will you both stop arguing, we have work to do.", Batwoman stated, "Let's take the criminals in, and keep working."
"Such a buzz kill...just because Catman keeps stringing you along doesn't mean you need to be a bitch.", Flash giggled.
"Say another word, I will break your nose.", Batwoman said, "Not all men are like Louis Lane, isn't that right Superwoman?"
"Shh!!", she said in a panic, "Don't tell Flash that!"
"Wait!? You have a boyfriend!?", Flash shouted.
"Shh!!", Superwoman said.
'I swear...this is going to make an excellent Christmas video for the guys.', I thought watching them argue till they finally calmed down and took the criminals away.
---Void Between Realities---
With the fun over I saved the video, and took off again. Racing around the multiverse looking for an Earth that could help me, I stumbled into the Justice Lord universe on accident. Not realizing it till I stopped to get a bearing, I watched Superman lobotomize Riddler. Quickly leaving I didn't have time to spare with them right now. Going to worlds where the JLA was cyborgs, robots, zombies, Bizarro's, and vampires I was amazed how different the worlds were. Just when I was about to go back home, I saw fighting on Earth 15.
Viewing it from the timestream I saw that the JLA and Lantern Corps were fighting a small host of Black Lanterns. Asking Spectre if he thought I should interfere, he said it was up to me. Wanting to help them, I dove into their world to assist.
---Earth 15---
Shooting onto the scene, I blasted several Black Lanterns back with my heat vision. Touching down with the League and Corps, they were happy to see that I had returned to assist. With a much more charged Lantern Ring now, I blasted them with my ring's light. This time the energy shattered the rings, and stripped them of their power. Unfortunately it didn't have the power to revive the Heroes so they died once the Black Lantern powers were removed.
'I think with another blessing or two from other Life Entities I can start absorbing the Black Light of a Black Lantern.', I thought pondering the idea after absorbing Willpower from the power battery on Oa.
"Thank Goodness you arrived when you did!", Mera said, "We were losing this fight."
"It's fine, I happened to be passing by when I saw the fighting.", I stated, "Did you sensors pick them up this time?"
"No, unfortunately they only detected them once they were here.", Sinestro said.
"I have the frequency to look for. I found it last night on a Kelex database from a destroyed universe.", I stated with a smile as I handed him the information, "Set your sensors to it, and you should detect when they get close to your universe."
"Perfect!", Green Lantern shouted, "This will be invaluable to us!"
"Thank you.", Batman said, "Something change your mind about helping us?"
"I managed to find an universe with Kryptonian's that are willing to help us fight Prime. With their help we can even out the battlefield a bit more.", I said.
"So you moving to fight here?", Batman asked.
"I can't make that decision alone.", I answered, "I still think that Earth 15 is cutting it too close."
"Come on, I am sure you can do!", Mera laughed slapping my back.
"Yeah...", I chuckled uncomfortably, "Either way, I can setup a meeting for you to ask them."
"Can't you maybe help persuade them?", she asked with a smile.
"I will try, but I can't promise anything.", I stated, "Here is a communicator so you can take part in the Alliance discussions. We are having a meeting this evening."
"Thank you.", she said with a wink.
Nodding my head I said I had somewhere to be, and left. Once I was gone, Batman asked Mera what she was doing.
"I think he is kind of good looking.", Mera said.
"You say that because he's saved us twice.", Cyborg said.
"And? I am a single woman, and have been for a while. You all keep saying I should give Aquaman a chance, but that isn't happening!", she snickered, "I have higher standards than that. All he does is hang around the bar every night, and get drunk."
"That is true.", Green Lantern added.
"I think I can use my feminine charms to win him over. Once I do I will make sure he stays here to help.", Mera said with a grin, "Wonder Woman, care to join?"
"I am spoken for.", she said glancing at Batman.
"Oh right.", Mera stated.
---UA High School, MHA Universe---
Arriving in time for lunch, I sat down with the girls to eat. Allowing the students to eat outside today, we find a decently private area to relax together. Portioning out our meal, Toru and Ochaco made sure everyone was served before sitting down. Knowing that the girls had worked hard to make the meal, I thanked them for their effort. Their cooking still wasn't the best, but everyone has to start somewhere.
"What do you think?", Mina and Momo asked nervously.
"I think it's delicious.", I said impressed with their attempt.
"Really!?", Itsuka and Dorothy inquired.
"Yes.", I said with a smile, "You all have improved your cooking tremendously. This is very good...the only issue is a bit too much salt."
"I knew it!", Toga laughed.
"I thought it was right on.", Toru sighed, "Well now I know."
"Still though, it is very good compared to your first few attempts.", I chuckled, "This isn't as hard as a brick."
"Haha very funny.", Momo said playfully hitting me.
Enjoying our meal together, Nejire and Melissa showed up saying that they had finished class earlier. Sitting down to join us, I shared my portion with them and asked how the lesson was. Stating that it was rather boring, they said that the workout session wasn't really that difficult. Complaining that things were too easy in the Hero Course now, they asked if there was anything I could to get them accelerated. Saying I might be able to persuade Nezu to make them my sidekicks, they excitedly asked me to try.
Promising to try I finished my meal, and informed them of what I had been up too. Telling them about the different world's I went too, I also showed them the video of the female versions of Batman, Superman, and Flash. Laughing the girls thought it was hilarious to see them bickering.
"So what do you intend to do with this?", Ochaco asked.
"Oh I am going to make one hell of a Christmas card for them.", I chuckled.
"Haha!", Mina laughed, "They are going to hate you."
"I am sure they will, but it will be so worth it.", I replied.
Lounging around for the remainder of lunch, Jiro and Asui came over to join us. Telling us that Shoto and Bakugo got into it, I looked over to see Aizawa lecturing them about fighting on campus. From what they told us Bakugo and Shoto were arguing about career paths. Shoto apparently let it slip that Bakugo would make a terrible Hero, and he lost it.
"Go figure.", I sighed.
"Does he ever just chill out?", Mina asked, "He walks around like he has a chip on his shoulder."
"That is true.", Toga said, "It gets annoying."
"Speaking of annoying people...has the Sticky Ball Bandit bothered you anymore?", I inquired.
"Mineta?", Jiro clarified.
"Yeah him.", I chuckled.
"Not when they are in the locker room.", Asui pointed to my girlfriends, "If they aren't him a few others peek. It's really bad for Class B."
"The teacher's don't stop them?", I asked.
"They try, but they are crafty.", Melissa replied, "Uncle Might has caught them twice."
Listening to all the different ways they have tried, I asked how they hadn't been thrown out yet. Informing me that they were being punished when they were caught, but the problem was that they weren't always caught.
"You think you can do something?", Asui asked, "It was annoying at first, now it's too much to deal with."
"Sure, I can handle it.", I said, "That won't be an issue."
"Thank you.", they said.
---Later That Day---
Coming back early from patrol, I looked around for Mineta and his colleagues. I knew that several clubs met after school so I expected them to try to snap some pictures of girls in sport clubs. Looking around the campus I found them within a few minutes, and they were in some tress over looking the swimming pool. Several women were getting stretched while having some fun being girls.
Seeing the boys with some high end camera equipment, I started levitating them out of the tree. Trying to grab onto the branches they realized that they couldn't move at all. Looking around for who was doing this they spotted me, and turned with pale white with fear. Sensing that they wanted to delete the pictures on the camera, I felt it was best to let Nazu handle this.
---Nezu's Office---
Dropping the four students in his office, I handed him their cameras. Asking what was going on I informed him where I caught them, and what they were doing. Looking at the boys, Nezu asked if he should look what pictures were on the camera. Shaking their heads violently they said they would take disciplinary actions over showing the photos.
"Boys, this is the tenth time this semester you have been caught doing this...", Nezu said, "I have tried to be fair with you, but this has gotten old. If there are any compromising pictures on this, I will have to expel you from UA High School."
"Expel us!", they shouted.
"You can't keep harassing the female student body with your antics.", Nezu said turning on the first camera.
Flipping through the pictures, nothing was terribly inappropriate. The photos were of girls working out nothing that one couldn't see if they were walking by. The second and third camera were the same, but when the fourth camera was picked up the boys started sweating. Looking at me fearfully Nezu realized that something bad must be on here. Handing me the camera, the boys gripped their chairs.
Turning the camera on I started sifting through pictures. The first half were pretty sketchy angles, but nothing that couldn't be called a lucky view. In the second half the pictures of my girlfriends started popping up in compromising positions along with Jiro, Asui, and Class B girls. Looking at them with a cramped smile, the boys bolted for the door. Stopping them before they got out of their seats I gave them a murderous smile.
"I thought I made it very clear the consequences for snapping pictures of my girlfriends...", I said staring at them.
"It's hard!! They are just so curvy!!", Mineta shouted.
"I see...", I said handing the camera to Nezu, "I think I told you what would happen if you did it again..."
"Now Clark, killing them isn't going to solve anything.", Nezu reminded me.
"Oh I am not going to murder them...", I chuckled with a twisted grin, "I hope you boys aren't afraid of heights."
"...what do you mean?", they asked.
Levitating them off the ground I took them outside, and high into the atmosphere. Screaming like little girls as they looked down at the ground, they held each other telling me not to drop them. Once we were in the upper stratosphere, I dropped them and followed after them to make sure they didn't get hit by a plane. Screaming all the way down they cried, pissed themselves, and called out for their mothers. Stopping them only half an inch from the ground in the center of campus, they hovered their twitching in fear.
"This is your final warning...try your crap again, and I won't catch you next time.", I said in a cold tone, "This time it applies to all the students on the campus...understand?"
"Yes...", they said before I let them hit the ground.
Fainting when they touched the ground I looked over to the women snickering with delight. In the end Nezu made them do community service as I put the fear of god into them. Leaving it at that I left with my girlfriends to prepare for the evenings meeting.
