Chapter 4: The Incident at the Bar

Avi slowly blinked as she took in her surroundings. It had been three years since she was dropped into this city and bolted through the grand portal hall. Now that she got a better look, it wasn't nearly as grand as she remembered. Compared to the golden hall she had just been in, the long stone hall lined with empty portals was rather underwhelming. All of a sudden she heard a loud voice echo through her mind.

A PLAYER HAS CLEARED THE GAME. NOW UNLOCKING THE CRYPT. BEST WISHES.

"Fuckin hell Lyds you never mentioned an alert." Avi shrugged. "Better find a place to chow down and pass out for the night so I can deal with that tomorrow," Avi said as she stumbled her way towards the big wooden door at the end of the hall. Avidia had never really explored the city, so her first goal was to find a person to help guide her around the city. However, seeing as it was night, she figured it'd be best to just find an inn and deal with stuff the next day. Avi kicked the big wooden door, causing it to swiftly swing open and collide with the sides of the stone building. Immediately she heard a gruff male voice say, "What the fuck was that?" Avi brazenly stumbled forward, finding herself face to face with two men, dressed head to toe in plate armor, towering over her.

The guards looked her up and down. This dead drunk, blood soaked, redhead carrying two massive scythes appeared out of nowhere. On top of that, all she had on were bandages around her chest and a pair of baggy pants with the right leg cut before the thigh. "Who are you to so boldly walk out of there? You know the guild has all portals reserved for the next three days. We'll have to take you in for intruding on the guilds reserved time." The guard on the right stepped forward to grab her arm. Before he could even process what had happened, he found himself face first on the ground and completely unable to move. The girl had wrapped herself around each of his limbs and now had her mouth extremely close to his throat. She reeked of blood.

"Now now ocifer thas no way to treat a lady. I'll let you off now because Im sucha nice person." She gently kissed his neck and hopped up, stumbling a bit as she steadied herself. "Now where can a girl get a meal and bed on thish fine evening. Only the best fer me." The guard on the left, who was now quivering from the sight before him, pointed down the street. You couldn't die in Remedias, but the pain and loss of hp you could feel was still very real.

"Ma'am the best p p place to eat w would be the guilds main hall. It's down the street and on th th the right."

"Why thank ya young man," she said as she began to skip her way down the street. The piercing stare from strange glowing eyes and lightning fast speed were too much for the man as he collapsed to his knees.

"Who is that god-awful monster," the guard said as he tried to calm himself.

"Those guys were sho kinddd," Avi said as she skipped down the street and to the right. In front of her stood a cozy looking building with a yellow sign that had a fork and bed on it. "This must be the one." Avi made her way to the door. But what was that about a guild? Avi shrugged and took one last swig of blood as she proceeded to barge her way through the door. When she made her grand entrance, the whole building was deathly silent and all eyes turned to her. (The players were already stunned enough by the message from the GM, but now some random chick is busting her way into the highest ranking guild pub.) Avi stood, leg still in the air from kicking open the door. She promptly plopped her leg down and wobbled a few steps into the building, using her scythes as supports. She slung a lot of blood onto the floor in the process. "What! Can't a girl get a bite to eat around here," Avi said as she tripped on her own leg and fell to the ground, smashing the nearest table and slicing the floor with her scythe in the process. Avi rolled onto her back and slowly looked around at the stunned faces of the players. The building itself was rather nice, with a bar/receptionist desk at the back, stairs leading up to a sort of office-looking room, and tables scattered around the main floor. Avi slowly sat back up. All eyes were still on her, many mouths agape. "Alri alri I can tell ya don wan me here yeeshever heard o hospitality." Avi picked herself back up and raised her scythe in the air. Just as she was about to swing down her scythe, the door to the second story swung open.

"What the hell is going on here." A nasally voice rang out from the second floor office. Avi looked up to see a scrawny, tall guy with long blonde hair and a revoltingly dazzling aura. His influence seemed to cause all commotion in the room to instantly silence. Of course, Avi was completely unfazed. She proceeded to take a deep bow. "I shinsherely apologize fer my rude intrushion upon this fine facility. I did not mean ter cause any trouble. Now if yull excuse me, I think I'll be on my way." Avidia turned to leave. "Wait right there." Avi stopped and turned back around to face the scrawny man with a gentle smile on her face. The man was fuming. If he had jowls they would most definitely be quivering. "You have the AUDACITY to enter the highest ranking establishment in the esteemed Adventures Guild, destroy the precious furniture, sling blood everywhere and simply walk away in the presence of ME, Jensen Stringold, one of the vice-leaders of the GREATEST guild in Fallen Tower?" Avidia looked at him blankly.

"Well I did apologize didn't I?"

At her words, Jensen's rage boiled over as he drew a massive katana-like blade and swung it downwards at Avidias face. The whole bar looked on in shock as Avidia casually swept past his blade, slung her arm around his shoulder, lightly kissed his neck and whispered "Now now stringbean. Settle down and we can talk about this like civilized people." Though he immediately started blushing, Jensen whipped around and again attempted to slice into Avi. This time she kicked his wrist, causing the blade to fly up into the air. She then promptly swung her left scythe into the floor, while using her right scythe to hold her up, and lodged the blade between the floor and her scythe. Jensen was practically foaming at the mouth. With spit flying everywhere, he yelled, "Who the hell are you?! Show me your guild card so I can make your life a living hell!"

"Stringbean! How rude! At leash take me to dinner first. By the bway, I don even have a guild card or whatever so tha one won work." At this, Jensen scoffed.

"Ohhhhhh I see. So you're one of those people huh. You think you can clear the game all by yourself without any help from the guild yeah? You're just a lowly guildless scythe wielder. What do you think you can do that the Adventures Guild, the guild that controls all of Remedias, couldn't do? I bet you even managing to dodge those punches was a fluke you weakling." With that, Jensen reared back and attempted to throw a punch at Avi. Avi immediately caught his fist, grabbed his arm, and used it to slam his face into a puddle of blood on the floor. She placed a knee on his back and brought her scythe up to his throat.

"Now you listen here stringbean. I've been through enough shit these past three years I don't need some cocky, snot-nosed, cowardly, weak, pretentious-"

"That's enough humiliation, don't you think." A deep voice rang out from the second floor office. Avi turned her head to see a towering figure. A tall man with gray hair tied back into a ponytail, a powerful figure, and a piercing glare, stood at the top of the stairs. "Why don't you unhand my subordinate there and come have a chat with me." He gestured for her to follow. Avi glared one last time at Jensen before unhinging her scythe from the floor and following the large man to his office. She smiled as, when she entered the office, she heard Jensen say to everyone in the bar, "NO ONE SPEAKS OF THIS. NOT A WORD YOU HEAR ME."

"I apologize. He has always been a hard one to handle. Far too much pride and not enough heart. I'm Darious, the leader of the Adventure Guild. To whom do I owe this pleasure."

"The names Avi, but you'll have ta give me a sec to sober up."

"Of course, take as much time as you need. I'll be available all night so whenever you're rea-" He was cut short as Avi swung her scythe blade deep into her thigh.

"WOOOHOOO SON OF BITCH THAT HURTS," Avi yelled as Darious looked on in shock. She shuddered as her body reverted back to its original state and a splitting headache rose in her temple. Before reinitiating the conversation, Avidia took the liberty of putting on her new plague doctor mask as an extra precaution. Furthermore, she shrunk down her scythes to fit the office space a little better. It was a nice simple room, with a bookshelf, desk, lantern, and piles of papers scattered here and there, though it was a little cramped.

"So what did you want to discuss," Avi said as she sat down across from Darious. As soon as she sat down, Darious bowed his head and said in a rush,

"Please join our school!"

I'm still a little unsure about this chapter because of the direction I want this novel to take but I like the bar scene so I hope you enjoyed.
