Chapter 14: ChristMs

After the ritual last night we all woke up with headaches, Ron probably had a different kind of headache but some jelly beans would be enough to mend that. I turned to Harry who was cleaning out his glasses, the horcrux is the only reason he needs them after all. I wondered if long claw or rhongomyniad could destroy it but I think I need to douse them in basilisks blood like the sword of Gryffindor.

Once everyone in the group was up we went down to get some breakfast, I found the girls with their heads buried in wizard magazines off other countries. Now that they can read they can buy cosmetics that even the pure bloods can't.

*bank* the sound of hands slamming down on the table sounded out. We saw a carved up Ron who is littered with kitty claw marks. He turned to Harry "mate you told me 7th floor!" We turned to him and he pulled out a note and showed it to him.

The bite said meet at the 1 floor but the handwriting is bad so it kinda looks like a 7. Ron scrunches his brows so I chime in. "It's an honest mistake Ron, you know Harry has bad eye sight."

"Who wrote this?!? The handwriting is atrocious!" He bellowed trying to seem threatening but I can see to cushion charm attached to his arse. Mrs Norris likes little boys a lot it seems. "You got a problem with my handwriting?" Questioned Mordred with a dark glint in her eyes. He gulped and mumbled lies about not meaning it.

We heard the sound of wings flapping and watched as the owls dropped the mail. A large parcel fell in front of us curtesy of Hedwig. Harry tore into the brown wrapping paper revealing a broom. Hermione questioned it "what's so special about a broom?" But Ron chimes in "that's not a broom, that's a nimbus 2000!" This thing reminds me of an iPhone, three months later the nimbus 2000 x storm with be released.

The other Gryffindors clamour around to inspect the broom which will be used for the opening matches today. Quidditch starts in November before going on Hiatus till March due to the cold weather. First match starts in four hours and Harry is debuting as a seeker.

Fast forwarding to that hundreds of people are crammed into the wooden towers of the quidditch field, I can see some of the blast marks from when me and moe train. It's Baltic out here so everyone's wrapped up in their winter accessories. I have a scarf and some gloves but not much else. At least they are Gryffindor coloured.

The match sounded out and played like in the movie with that buck toothed Slytherin knocking wood out. Harry then lost control of his broom so we started searching for the cause. Hermione spotted Snape muttering the doubter curse completely ignoring quirrel behind him. Before she could rush off I told her to wait. I handed Mordred a pine cone which I then lit on fire.

I got inspired by fantastic Mr Fox so I thought using flame magic on pine cones could prove effective. Mordred gave it her best pitch and knocked quirrel square in the turban, some rogue sparks flickered off him and ignited several robes causing some panic in that tower.

Harry regained control then caught the snitch in his mouth. I'm a little worried with people's lack of fear towards putting things in their mouth in this society. They speak of modesty and proper decour yet pop potions and herbs like they were cups of green tea and some fresh chewing gum. He swallowed a sports ball that was probably soaked in sweat. No one ever cleans the damn sorting hat so I wonder if they ever clean the quidditch balls. The bulged still has blood stains on it.

Well Harry won so Gryffindor gets to party, some older seniors snuck in barrels from hogsMeade so I got to try butter beer. Wizards allow their children to drink muggle alcohol because its weak to them yet mention giving them some fire whiskey or Nordic meed and they get all uppity. Butter beer has alcohol in it so the students were a little freaked out by how much I can drink.

Two weeks went by and we continued studying for the exams whilst working on our side projects. Mordred was researching Arthurian legend in this world hoping to spot a legacy left behind by merlons whilst I worked on merging duelling forms with my own style of combat.

After meeting with professor Flitwick and having him demonstrate some forms i discoveries that duelling forms are either behaving like a conductor in an orchestra or mixing in some foot work so it becomes river dancing. I closed my eyes and grimaces at the spars Jon experienced against a mature Arya Stark who would come to visit. She took of travelling like that one crazy aunt so when she came to visit and speak of essos she would spar with Jon.

So after having faces river dancing so many times it was easy to reproduce. The problem was a long sword wasn't compatible so it was only useable with the wand. After running through the motions of river dancing with my wand professor Flitwick dropped his cup of coffee and exclaimed that I just used advanced duelling forms designed for facing several enemies. I just made Kermit face and explained what river dancing was.

He then suggested studying dual wielding, some Chinese warlocks figures out how to duel with staves and with twins swords. Perhaps I could dual wield long claw with my wand?

As I researched the Chinese duelling forms Hermione came and slammed down her "light reading book" and began explaining about Nicholas Flammel. When she reached the philosopher stone I grimaced which didn't go unnoticed.

Hermione asked blatantly "do you know about the stone?" To which I nodded, Susan bones who joins us frequently asked why I made that face. So I sighed and explained.

"From where I'm from the philosopher stone is used as a shortcut for alchemy. Based on how Nicholas makes a youth potion with it I'm assuming his does the same. It may also make transfiguration possible without a wand."

Hermione and Harry praised it until I explained the process of a philosopher stone. "As far as I'm aware a philosopher stone capable of extending life requires a key ingredient. The ingredient is why the stone is considered taboo." "What? Is it unicorn blood or something?" Jokes Ron until I replied "it's souls, hundreds of human souls. The one I read about uses an entire nation in the past as sacrifices to make the stone with there only being two survivors."

They all went silent and Susan went pale, I researched the bones family and found out that they used to be necromancers. They were famous for being able to identify and track someone based on their bones structure. They could also use transfiguration to make bone structures to attack with. They didn't mess with the soul very much thought hence the surname. But they did have the oddball who researched it.

I then continued "Nicholas Flammel is six hundred and sixty five years old which puts his birth at around 1332. Assuming it took 80 or 90 years to develop his research to the point he could produce a stone I would assume he started collecting them through muggle wars. Plenty of dead to harvest."

I then began listing wars such as the war of the eight saints, the war of the roses, the arucanian wars, the war of three Henry's, the Powhatan war, king Williams war, the war of emboabas, the Carnatic wars, all the succession wars, the American revolution, the French Revolution which he was no doubt apart off considering he claims to be from France, the amount of wars in the 1800's and 1900's is to high to count with there being two world wars.

Prolonging him and his wives lives for several centuries and still having power means he would have quite the stockpile in the stone. Harry came to the decision that the stone should be destroyed if that's the price of making it.

We then began to work again after the somber atmosphere died down, Christmas was approaching so we would be in a Merry mood. I have plans to do some training with hagrid though. Chopping trees! Hogwarts needs a total of 44 Christmas trees a year so I'm going to lend him a hand.
